Time to stick with it!!

I bet with school starting there is all kinds of festivities planned for the weekend! Do you have any advice for not indulging in it all?

i wish i did. Thats a constant struggle for me-i dont know if you've read the speculations juni and i were making about how eating more protein throughout the day curbs your cravings. ive recently noticed that its working for me since ive upped my protein intake. Probably has something to do with how protein helps you stay full longer. HOWEVER i just discovered a new challenge for me tonight- even though i wasnt really hungry i kept popping food into my mouth as i was cleaning up after everyone left. thankfully though because i wasnt binging i didnt get that uncomfortable feeling that comes with overeating, but still mindless eating is no good either!

you had mentioned eating some fruit before the wedding to help curb your hunger so you dont end up over eating and i think thats a great plan. I had read somewhere that when our blood sugar level gets too low we are more likely to binge-i guess because our body is starving for some glucose, we tend to go for the sugary stuff - so maintaining a constant level by having something to eat every 3-4 hours will help keep your blood sugar level relatively stable. Having a snack that includes protein and fruit (eg some almonds and an apple,) should be enough to carry you over until ur next meal.

its 5:30am and sleep has finally caught up with me-hope this makes sense, if not please let me know-hope your weekend is going great!

What a bad weekend :(

I never thought I'd say this but thank god it's the work week again! I need my routine back! I totally fell off the wagon this weekend and crashed. Friday was all right however I was so tired after work I didn't exercise and went to bed pretty early. I woke up early Saturday and did a 10km fast walk/jog (13450 steps on the pedometer) and was feeling really good. Got all dressed up for the wedding and felt pretty good in my dress. Then it all went downhill from there. There were aps and cocktails before the reception so instead of having fruit like I had planned I had finger food and wine. Then at the reception there was a huge buffet with all my favourites! Pasta, meatballs, mashed potatos and gravy, etc and I didn't resist any of it. The drinks kept coming all night too! By the time we left the wedding it was 3am and I was drunk and we got our cab to go through McDonalds!! I had two cheeseburgers and didn't even remember it the next morning - what a waste!!
Sunday morning and all day for that matter I couldn't get out of bed for the life of me. Until around dinner time when my boyfriend called me downstairs to tell me there was pizza :( I was so tired and already feeling bad for eating so much Saturday that I indulged again and ate pizza, plus no exercise again that day.
Yesterday was a little better. I woke up feeling good finally and went for a 5 km fast walk/jog. I wanted to do 10km but it was too hot out. The rest of the day I did some house work and had salad for lunch and salad for dinner and a couple healthy snacks.
Today I hope to get a good work out in after work and get some groceries so I have no excuses for eating crap! I don't think I'll be down at the weigh in tomorrow and I just pray I'm not up. I have no energy yet today so I'm going to make some green tea and hope it gives me some life. I'll be back later to see how everyone else made out this weekend. Hopefully better than me :nopity:

My weekend did not go much better and it did not help that our trainer had us take off both Sat. and Sun.

I too was glad to come back to work.

We will do better this week

:iagree: I wish I could get on a routine for the weekends instead of crashing and burning all the time. I'm finding it so hard today to resist temptation. The only thing keeping me away is knowing the scale will tell the truth tomorrow :smash:

It was a good start to the work week! I have more energy already this morning and am excited about the healthy lunch I have packed. Here's how yesterday went:
B - instant regular oatmeal (not nearly as good without berries - I was all out)
Snack - 2 cups mint green tea black
L - big salad w lots of veggie, chick peas, oil & vinegar (I ate this around 11am because the oatmeal just wasn't doing it for me)
L - frozen life smart brand meal - spagetti & chicken (only 4 WW points - the salad just wasn't cutting it either so I ate this around 1pm.)
D - 2 corn on cob w light margarine, 4 oz piece lake trout breaded with corn flakes
Exercise - 10 km fast walk/jog - I must have jogged at least 8km of this!
3 sets abs routine
Snack - 1 point WW bar - peanut butter
Total Pedometer steps - 16400

Feeling much better about the week now that I've got a good start. I weigh in at noon today and I hope to be the same and not have gained any from the horrible weekend I had. If I did I'll just have to push harder. I'll check back after lunch.

Just stopping by to read your diary. Great start with the 7.6 loss. You must feel great!!! I see you are doing WW. Although i am not doing the plan, i have always liked it and think it's one of the best out there.

Also, i'm with you on the weekends. They have been so hard for me. Hopefully now that the summer is over it will get a little easier.

Keep up the great work

Matt

Thanks Matt! Now that wedding season is over for me I hope the weekends get easier.
My weigh in at lunch was sad - up .6 pounds :( this week I will just have to push harder.
I'll let you know how today goes tomorrow - so far so good!

Still pushing through the week. Yesterday was ok but I was too busy making pickles and visiting with an old friend that I never got a chance to get any exercise in. I wish I could for once wake up early and exercise before work but my snooze button has a hold over me. I just love my bed and the warmth too much sometimes. I bet if I would have woke up yesterday morning and exercised before my weigh in I would have stayed the same at least. Oh well next week I will be down 2 pounds! Here is how yesterday went:
B - Instant regular oatmeal w 1 cup strawberries :drool5: so much better with berries
Snack - 2 cups green mint tea - I drank these before my weigh in so I could have just been retaining the water too! excuses, excuses my mom says, lol
L - 6inch veggie sub from Subway on 9 grain bread - lettuce, tomato, onion, olives, mustard and no cheese
Snack - 1 point WW pecan and caramel treat, grapefruit
D - Tuna melt on two pieces WW bread (only 1 point for 2) 3/4 can tuna, light mayo, sweet pickles and small amount of cheese. Half of can of tomato & rice soup, made with water - no crackers, I was trying to be so good.
Snack - Another 1 point WW pecan caramel treat and a 1 point WW chocolate mint bar
When I went to the pub to meet my friends I resisted the urge to sip on a drink of instead I had water and lemon which is why I had another 1 point snack when I got home - it was my reward for being good. Most alcoholic drinks are 2 points each and some three so I was good by turning those down.
total pedometer steps - 6500 - this totally sucks, lazy day. But I spent an hour and a half bent over the sink scrubbing cucumbers if that counts for anything. Maybe just a sore back today.
Anyway I hope to get a 10km fast walk/jog in tonight since I have been slacking on the exercise. I'll update you tomorrow how that goes.:auto:

Great job resisting the alcohol. That is always a toughie.

Do you post on the weight watchers boards also? Like i said i dont do their program but i rear them everyday. There is some great info over there.

Enjoy the day!

I haven't really checked them out yet. I don't have a computer at home and I don't get too much time during the day at work to read all the forums I would like to. My mom is also on the WW program and she has gotten some good recipes from there which is nice because they have the points already calculated in. I get the newsletter sent to my email and I enjoy reading the success stories - I find them very motivating when I see someone the same height and weight as me and knowing they can do makes me know I can do it too. They usually have some good tips too on how they got to goal.

Oh man I love pickles I am so thankful my Mom and sister like to can.

I think your doing ok with the eating because it takes time to adjust to new habits, just need to get the work out bug.

Hi, thanks for stopping by my diary! Looks like your doing great! Just remember, if you ever fall off the wagon, get right back on with the next meal instead of the next day. The sooner you catch yourself the less "damage" you'll do. I know you'll get to your goal and be a beautiful bride. Just stay committed...like I plan on doing now lol :) Hope to see you around!
~Ashley~
P.s. I give you kudos on skippin the alcohol. Tonight after work 2 of my friends were sittin at my bar and were like "have a drink, finish watchin the football game with us"...so I ordered a water with lime. :)

Didn't it feel so good turning it down and sticking to the water? I was so proud and it just made making choices like that easier. Your right about getting back on at the next meal instead of the next day - that's a big downfall of mine. I'm always like "well today's already a write off so I mays well have one more". Thanks for stopping by Ashley.

Tgif! Tgif!

This week went by quick! I guess it was a short week to begin. I'm tired though and just want to go home after work and relax. Tomorrow will be my cheat day :hurray:
Yesterday was a good day in my books. Here's how it went:
B - regular instant oatmeal w 1 cup strawberries
Snack - 3 cups mint green tea
L - big salad - spinach, onion, tomato, chredded carrot, ff tomato oregano dressing
D - 1/2 cup baked beans in tomato sauce, brussel sprouts w red onion and a little bit of olive oil, 3 oz baked chicken (bone, no skin) w cantilope and low sodium chicken broth.
Exercise - 10 km fast walk/jog - I think I'm getting a little faster and can jog for longer without switching to fast walk.
Snack - tomato (that I grew) & salt, 1 point WW peanut butter bar & 1 point WW choc. mint bar:drool5:
Total pedometer steps 16800

I felt so good this morning and woke up before my alarm. I had to be at a United Way kick-off breakfast and they were serving bacon, sausages, croisants, pastries, etc. and I only had a small serving of scrambled eggs and sliced fruit! I love sausage too! That was hard for me to resist. But I know the weekend is around the corner and I'm saving all my extra points for the week for Saturday because I will be drinking and eating more than normal.
I'll update you Monday how the weekend went - I'm hoping for a much better result than the long weekend. I want to be down this week at least 2 pounds come weigh-in on Wednesday! Wish me luck :cheers2:

Hey girl! Way to go for not giving in at the united way breakfast!

Waking up before the alarm goes off DOES feel great! Nothing more annoying than being jolted awake...

You’re doing an awesome job with your eating and your workouts! You should be proud of yourself! Have a great weekend and enjoy your free day-you earned it! :)

Not so bad but could have been better!

Darn it's Monday again. Where did the weekend go? I had a bad cheat day Saturday but besides that I was pretty good. Here's how it went:
09/11
B - sliced fruit, 3 roasted potatos, onions, pepper, 1 scrambled egg (i turned down all the bacon and sausage at the United Way buffet - I really wanted that sausage too!)
Snack - 1 cup mint green tea
L- frozen chicken primivara meal (only 4 WW points)
Snack - 1 triscut & cheese
D - corn on the cob w margarine, bbq chicken thigh, salad w veggies & ff ranch dressing.
Exercise - 3 km fast walk
Snack - 5 WW tricuts, 10 green olives
Exercise - cleaned the house top to bottom for 2 1/2 hours straight
Total Pedometer Steps 9900

09/12 - Cheat Day :cheers2:
Before breakfast I knew it was going to be a bad day so I did a 25 min step aerobics dvd - kathy smith
Brunch - 2 Weight Watchers Whole Wheat pieces of bread toasted - no butter, 2 scrambled eggs, 1/4 can potatos w ketchup & onion
From 1:30 - 6:30 we were in a gold tournament and this is where I started cheating. We used a cart too so I didn't get much exercise golfing. I wouldn't have been able to walk because it was the hottest day so far this summer and if you keep reading you will see why I couldn't walk the course.
Snack - 1 point choc. mint bar
Booze - 1 light beer, 1 reg. beer w clamato, 2 Mott's ceasar's, 3 Mike's Hard Cranberry coolers, 4 shots - tequilla, polar bears, 2 rye & diet coke
D - beef on a bun, potato salad, spinach salad
Despite all the drinking our team came in third!!
We were home and passed out by 9pm!
Didn't wear the pedometer because I thought I might lose it - plus we weren't walking so I knew the steps would be low.

09/13
Water, water, water
Exercise - at least 10km walk with my friend.
Brunch - 2 veggie burgers, 1 tomato, 1 whole egg, 3 egg whites - all scrambled together with ketchup
D- 1 whole yam sliced into chips, little oil & lots of spices - baked for 20min, pork shoulder bbq'd, salad w veggies & oil & vinegar
Snack - 1 point choc. mint bar
Total Pedometer steps 18006

So no where near as bad as last weekend - where I wasn't even tracking because it was sooo bad. I still think I might have gained a pound with all the booze I drank Saturday - I'm still drinking tons of water and tea today to try and flush it all out!
Tonight I start a new aerobics class that runs MWF 5-6pm and tomorrow I start a spinning class that runs TTH 6-7pm so I will have no excuse for not exercising! I'm going to be busy!

I wouldn't worry about it - that wouldn't even register as drinking here in Ireland! And I can honestly say from experience that alcohol doesn't do half the damage to your figure as junk food does. Not that I'm encouraging bad behaviour of course! :)
