Time to get going!

So I thought it was time to move across from the newcomers section. I want to lose around 30 kg so around 66 pounds. I weighed myself today and officially lost 1 Kg!!:hurray: I have been good the past couple of days with what ive been eating and had a really great work out at the gym yesterday, but today has not been such a good day. I had a long and busy day so I indulged in a bag of candy. Anyone got any ideas for pick me ups that arent filled with sugar?

OK so started out well this week at the gym but I've struggled a bit for the past couple of days.

Firstly, i learnt the hard way that you need to satisfy your cravings. I denied myself chocolate for a couple of days and finally thought on the third day when I was desperate for a bit that I would allow myself a couple of pieces. Needless to say i ate the whole block.

I also seem to have come down with a cold yesterday morning so have spent the past two days feeling sorry for myself and eating comfort food and not going to the gym. Woops.

However, this morning I did do some exercise at home in a very tiny top and tiny shorts and seeing my belly flab hanging out was motivation!! I'll be back on to it as soon as I feel better.

In the mean time any suggestiond for comfort food that doesnt contain 1000000000 calories?

Well I am now over my cold so feeling heaps better. I did binge on junk food over the weekend (mainly chocolate - my biggest weakness) but I didn't gain any weight!! I stayed exactly the same so I'm happy with that.

Today I had the best workout at the gym so I'm definitely feeling motivated. I also ate about 1,400 cals yesterday which is below my current goal of 1,500! So it looks like I'm definitely back on track.

Weigh in day tomorrow. Am thinking its not going to be a good one as I had a VERY busy week last week and ate dinners late etc. I also only managed to get to the gym twice but did go for a long walk sat. This week I have decided to start going to the gym 5 days and went today so good start. Today I ate:

Brekkie:
Scambled egg on whole grain toast

Lunch:
Tuna salad sandwich

Afternoon:
Iced coffee with no sugar

Dinner:
Casserole

So not too bad I guess. Hopefully tomorrow won't be a gain but I wouldn't be surprised if it is!

Hey welcome to the forum :)
I like this for comfort food and a portion is only 153 calories! So what I do is make a quarter of that recipe as a main meal. It turns out to be quite big and is really nice!

Congrats on the exercise. Thats the hardest bit for me actually getting my butt moving lol.

Hey Kirsty thanks for the recipe - looks pretty yummy so I'll have to try it.

Anyway today was good news after all. Lost 0.9kg and now I'm super motivated!!

Hopefully after next week I'll be able to break into the 80s!

Well I had to weigh in a day early this week and it's not good news. I didn't lose or gain. Im getting in this pattern where I seem to lose aroun 1kg one week then nothing the next. I want to get out of it and lose every week! My week last week was really bad. I started off well, but then I had some major assignments and some issues in my personal life so I've been really stressed and not exercising and eating crap. I don't even want to talk about what i've eaten :blush5: I'm now on holidays for uni so I'm going on 2 trips - 1 is skiing tomorrow which is meant to burn a lot of calories. I'm going to make it my goal to lose in both of the next 2 weeks!!!

Hey caro!

I share your love for chocolate :drool5: and def agree that its best to satisfy your cravings in small portions than to deny yourself altogether.

I'm in univ as well-we'll be starting again in sept. I'm soo looking forward to it. All this free time is making it really hard to not snack!

We've been having some really hot and humid days here that skiiing sounds heavenly. Enjoy your trip!

Hey night runner. Yea I'm getting better with only having small servings of chocolate but i still love it. I know what you mean about the snacking - I'm always snacking when I'm bored and seeing as the mountain was closed and I couldn't ski I did a lot of snacking :( I would trade my winter for your hot and humid days right now!

So this week hasn't been very good so far. I better get my butt into gear this weekend if I want a loss to show up on tues!

Hi Caro,

I think you are in NZ to eh? One thing I've found to eat instead of choc is a Horley's Sculpt bar, flavour choc and raspb... its a protein and rice bubble type bar but is chewy and choclatey as well. Its got 180 cal, but i've found i can fit it into my daily cal as a snack/mini meal.

it's got a bit of that protein grittiness going on which aint great but the flavour is pretty nice.... in the nutrition section at the supermarket.

I haven't been up the mountain all season. Hopefully might soon!

aww too bad the mountain was closed. I hate it when i get psyched about getting a workout in and then something comes in the way...

Don't worry about the snacking. We all have those days. It's a new day!! focus on that!

Yes I am Anna. I'll have to try those bars. I kind of find protein bars scary though - the packaging always looks unappealing. This was my 2nd time up the mountain so I did get some snow in last time.

Had a super long day of work today which was good because I didn't snack too much.. Am going to hit the gym tomorrow.

OK so I missed my weigh in day last week because I was heading away on holiday. Turns out holidays do not agree with me at all! I gained 500g  This was totally expected though because although I exercised heaps I also ate out a lot and it was not healthy food. Bad me! I am back at uni now and this week has started off well. I've decided to really push myself for the next two motnths in the lead up to summer so will have to see how I go!

The past few days have been good for me! I have been eating well and exercising. Not sure if I'll get to weigh in this week because TOM but can feel some changes. i hadn't been wearing my NZ sz 12 jeans because they had been feeling a little tight and instead had been wearing my levis (us sz 10) because they are comfortable/loose. Anyway I wore my sz12 jeans last night and they didn't feel very tight at all! Gives me some more motivation because the scales haven't been showing too much of a change.. Also can't wait for the challenge to start on friday! Hopefully I'll get motivated by it.

Well done Caro,

Sounds like you are going pretty well

I'm looking forward to the challenge too, it'll be pretty motivating.

Hey Caro,
Chocolate is my addiction too, and pretty much the only thing that made me over weight over a short period of time. I ate chocolate for every meal sometimes ate a huge 250g bar and nothing else the whole day (THATS A HUGGEE FUCKING PEICE OF CHOCOLATE LOL!)...best way to give up chocolate addiction is slowly wean off it. Make a resolution to urself that u can eat chocolate, but only dark chocolate. OR you can only eat chocolate when it is in a drink (low fat nesquick maybe?) ORR you can only have chocolate as a treat in one of those snacky bar thingies!!
Its worked for me. Now I dont even crave chocolates anymore. lol.
