OMG LIZ!!! you had the surgery! Where've I been??? wow, sooo impressed! Your such a hero on so many levels, I hope you realize that. I wonder how many thousands of people have heard your story and were moved enough to make a difference in their own lives.

My hats off to ya Liz! I hope your recovery is a quick one and you get to feeling better soon!

hmm so i got a call back "are you ok? are you having trouble breathing at all?" etc type thing.
I say "No i feel fine, why?". Apparently my tests came back with something slightly raised which means i had/may have a blood clot or something.
So pretty much i need to stay active and keep doing things as I am, stop eating the garbage foods (awww but i was enjoying it!). No smoking and more exercise (already been walking heaps!)

Nah dont appear to be. To be on the safe side im gonna head down to the gym and do a few more workouts to get the blood flowing.

well, I bit the bullet, went to the gym and got my membership re-enabled 4 weeks early. That 4-6 weeks recovery be damned, im feeling fine except for the pain under the left ribs.
The walking was getting tedius and i wanted to change things a bit. So i went to the gym tonight and spent 35mins on the cross trainer (low impact, easy level, HR at about 145avg), and then another 25 mins on the recumbant exercycle with a avg HR of 125.
So Happy with an hour of decent exercise, low/no impact, and good HR, And the best part is that the sore part under my left ribs is much better! woot! :D

Okay after a slew of blood tests and visits to Dr and finally the hospital today, no i dont have a blood clot (no shit!).
Better safe than sorry. Heading back up to Auckland to visit my brother this weekend coming up, hes doing well also.
Im itching to do cycling or running, ive been eating lots of food, but in small portions lots of times a day. Lots of crap food too i admit (cake and cookies! Arg!). Drinking my 2.5ltrs of water a day, in fact the kids and I have made it into a game now and everyone checks to see whos drunk the most water in the day and if they have drunk it.
We all go around with bottles of water.
Interestingly we were comparing the changes that we had. Oldest is no longer constipated, and finds she sleeps better at night. Shes also less hungry (usually eats like a horse and we're struggling to teach her good habits so this is a good thing). The others just started today trying to jump into our competition.

Speaking of Competitions! I got entered into one for some HDTV gadget thing, and im one of 3 finalists.
[link removed now - competitions over! i win!)

I think im going to start hitting the gym in the mornings, bike there, gym, then bike to work. Have to be sure i can bike though (havnt tried yet!)

Anyway thats my update for now :)

:hurray:

Hi Liz, glad to hear you're doing well.

I voted.
I WON!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D

Went to Auckland to visit my other kidney for the weekend. Brother is doing really well. Im able to eat now but unfortunatly thats ALL I've been doing all weekend :/
I swear I have eaten at least 1kg worth of calories just in the last 2 days. Its insane. Im not even gonna bother with dinner because im so full from the HUGE breaky and lunch i had today.
Let alone the 4 tacos i had last night, i was so stuffed to bursting point. Then the hotel we were staying in had a herd of elephants arrive in the room above outs at midnight just as i was dropping off to sleep, and they decided to run the bath.
Now the bath in these places is a HUGE spa bath thing, so it takes FOREVER to fill up. We're talking over 30 mins easy. Finally they fill the darned thing, piss about getting in it, and then ..... decide to turn on the bubble pumps! Oh yeah!
By this stage I had re-opened my book trying to read again. After an hour of them froicking in the spa bath they decided to go to bed, finally ....... and then proceeded to do the 'wild thing'.
So needless to say, I did not get much sleep last night!

Got the new toy, gave it to husband. Hes completely pulled the home network apart and we had no internet or TV for some time.
I still cant get the darned thing to work. I think im probably too tired and would get frustrated and pissy.

Hmm let me revise that .... it *felt* like i ate lots of calories ... having gone over it in my mind, yes i did eat pretty bad food, i actually didnt eat that much.

Breakfast was out at a cafe, french toast (2 sandwich slices of bread+egg) with 2 slices bacon + fruit ... it FELT like 5 slices of toast smothered in copious amounts of bacon, egg, ice cream, cream, etc.
Lunch was tomato soup with couple slices bread.
Dinner was skipped because lunch was lateish and I was too full (i did have a muesli bar as a snack though)

wow your weight loss is incredible. you should be tickled pink over your success! sometimes i get down because i feel like its such a large amount i want to lose (75 pounds), but you've lost almost twice that. Very inspiring. keep up the great work and you look stunning

Thanks! for a second there I had to look twice, I have a friend called Miriam M whom ive known for years. Shes not very techy though :)

Well this year i decided to give the Lake Taupo a miss and do the Auckland Marathon instead .... scarey!

Daughters want to also join in and do it with me. Training starts next week!
