Race? what race?

Only thing i saw in the news was more aussie fires and more dead. I presume that you mean something about that americas cup thingee thats going on somewhere (heck im not even sure where let alone whos winning/losing!).

And nah i get cravey when its PMS time ive noticed, i just happened to have 2 banana cakes in front of me and a co-worker who also craved.

Leg is feeling better today, ive been walking on my heels to stregnthen muscles that should be stronger (the ones at the front of the calves. forget the name now). Pain is gone mostly but ill leave it till friday at least before running again.
Today is a new day anyway. its supposed to get up to 29C here today, that means the actual heat will be mid 30s-40s (terribly humid as well)
LOL! I'm sorry wishes, my inaccurate wording - a half marathon is not a race? I meant that as you have hurt your leg and can't run the event you wanted, the way you wanted it, you couldn't have been feeling too up when the cake temptation hit.

My husband says I'm a "sporting dessert" = "knows nothing about sporting events" - I don't know anything about the America's Cup right now. All I see on the news is the same as you. More horrendous fire stuff.

Humid heat is so much worse than dry I reckon.

I'm glad your making progress with your leg, though. :)

Ohhh i have a month left yet, im not totally down and out. Ill just downgrade and do the 10km not the 21km.

Ohhhh we must be twins! To be honest i dont even watch the news much either :/

Thats good to know ... :/
The figure definatly looks like its changing though which is what im more interested in. Just not the scale.
Whilst i have you here though Steve, whats some good stretches for legs? I think i have most of the usual ones sweet, but just thought you might have hookups for some webpage with cool ones that get the minor muscles i might be missing :)

Hey Liz, sorry, I've been MIA.

For leg flexibility/mobility, I generally do these calf stretches:

For quads I do the typical and and

Hamstrings I do the typical and

Most of my work is done on the hips and glutes where I (and most others) tend to be the tightest and have the biggest limit on mobility. For these I do things like:

I also do a lot of dynamic work pre-training that includes:

Snap. :D

Yep. We are twins. (I mostly just hear bits of news while I'm doing something else.)
Thats what news is for online! :D

sheesh over achiever eh ? hehe nah thanks heaps! I have done a fair few. Ive found one of the biggest things that help (other than stretching) is walking on heels to strengthen the front of the leg muscle. Its more of a preventative to balence the leg from running.
Though most of my problem is overdoing it, and i knew i was pushing the fine line trying to do too much too soon :)

Hey Liz! Sorry to hear about your shins/legs/hip issue. But fuckin' A, I checked out your website and MAN OH MAN are you organized!!!!!!!! :eek2: WOW!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, your last before/after pic blew my socks off--your skin look GREAT for the amount for reduced volume, if I may say so.

EH--3000 calories = refeed = good thing, once in a while :) Uh, as long as it's not 3000 cals for days in a row!

Heal up, woman! :smash:

hmm heres another post in my diary which has been going i realized since i first started out here - dang!
Wonder if its the oldest diary on here yet still in use? :)

Anyway, legs feeling fine, gonna ease back into running monday morning with a 30min run.
Been eating icky a bit today and the other day, but not overly too much. Need to get that back in check.
My bike finally sold - this means i can buy a hybrid . Both mountain bike, comfort bike, and road bike. This means i can ride long distance riding and a bit of mountain biking as well as keep up with road. Diversifying is the mainstay of keeping up with exercise i tell you.

So ive been keeping up with the Photography, today went to the in-laws and had a go with my newphew.
I would love some feedback guys :)

So tomorrow im off out hunting for my new great bike, and banking the leftovers to pay off some debts! huzah!
Also another weirdness
I got a random email from a chick going 'hi! i wondered what happened to you! its been a long time how are things? i got married to x and saw your name on a mailing list hes on. bye'

So i recognized the name, i could even visualize what she looked like, but blowed if i knew anything else. Couldnt recall where i knew her from or how. I thought hard for a day or so, went over all schools, work places, other friends.
Eventually i emailed and asked. Turns out she was the girlfriend of my ex-step-son. I think they were together all of 3 months. She got knocked up, and had my grandchild (i was a step-grandma at 24 or 25). Anyway we got along well but lost touch because my marrige broke up soon afterwards amoung other things and she moved.

So today i got to break the news of something i had kinda forgotten to tell my 3 younger kids. See they never talk about their real dad. They dont know him or their other brothers and sisters. And to find out today that they had a nephew! who was almost as old as them!!
Anyway as luck would have it, they are coming over to visit tomorrow for a BBQ because they are local :D
So double woot for catching up with people! And the kids are excited to know they have more a nephew! :D

ok 2 weeks of no running, need to get back into it. legs are all good now. Havnt done a lot of cycling or anything else but i have been active in life (running up and down stairs, went to a bike meetup and 10km bike ride on a tridem etc).

Went to a talk given by a guy off a programmed called 'downsize me' which is similar overseas programs only he comes to their house and tells them how shit works and they go on a diet.
I thought i knew a bit, however im always open to new ideas and i figure this guy has qualifications and knew a bit. I wasnt disappointed at all. He was excellent. The one problem i had was that he was probably a bit over the top of everyones heads explaining things in a fairly complex way.
I understood but i could see others had no idea. It went over their head and they were bored. Information wise it was fantastic.
Second problem was that he had aligned himself with some chick, who offered a crapload of money to somebody in her club if she couldnt loose weight. So she consulted with this Damien guy and lost the weight (a wapping 20-30kg lol) and now shes somehow magically qualified to help out prople professionally who are paying over $1000 for the program.

Now im really becoming anti this guy, purely based on the last fact. I can understand a customer testimonial. But i cant understand how this chick is now getting paid to give advice she doesnt have or know.
Secondly, the guy is asking people to completely change their diet. Which i understand is a good thing in the long term, but often a very daunting challenge for somebody so overweight and so stuck in their ways of crap food, that its all but impossible.

In an ideal world we would eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, healthy nuts, lean meats and very few breads, takeaways, and fats kinda thing. But in reality, its not gonna happen quiet that way. You can give it your best shot for the most part, but if you are at major significant health risk, and loosing a crapload of weight fast will start you in the right direction, then often you can sort that out slowly over time and adapt your life to eating and doing this.

wow! Those photos of your nephew are really good! The "grey" one especially but his face in the one with the white background is my favorite! The "grey" one has such great contrast but his face is half in shadow which is a bit intense, at least for a baby pic. I think the white would be my favorite except the background is draped weird. Not sure how to explain it better but if the background looked soft like the part he is sitting on I thought that might look better but I just have issues with the way the folds are going. lol I am probebly just full of crap but figured I'd give you an "artsy" comment.
He is the cutest thing though!! What did you do to get him to act like that or is he just naturally happy at the right moment;)
It's funny because you mentioned the random hair coming up off the carpet in his face and until I read that I thought it was something on my screen. I kept trying to wipe it off:p lol
Glad that your leg is feeling better!!

hmm so i gotta start back into running. 2 weeks off was really too much and im being lazy again. My old bike has been sold and new bike not bought yet so running it is. Must hit the gym perhaps even today :/

Fingers crossed that your shins keep behaving. I guess that sort of thing is always lurking when you are trying to keep your exercise on that nice line (the one you so often pick), where things are improving. :) Good on you for your line and your vigilance, and good luck.

OMG YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY!!!!

I went to the shops after the gym yesterday, and FINALLY they have brought back high waisted jeans! ive been in a drought for years now. ANyone over a size 8-10 (US 2-4?) shouldnt be seen dead in low cut low waist hipster jeans, especially anyone whos lost weight and just muffin tops BAD!
Ive had to fight to find anything that looks good and holds the skin rolls in. Im down to one pair of jeans now hence why i went to the shops. Not only did i find more than 3 pairs of pants that were high waisted, but i could go down a size because i fit them properly (low cut made me buldge so i ended up wearing a size bigger which then slipped down more etc etc ..)
Anyway im so happy. Today is payday, im going on a shopping spree today! :D
