since we moved town i dont have the guys i used to hang out with. Nobody to compete against really or clubs down here. Its just not the same :)

Aha! Adjusting, I see. You had your homies to challenge and take the piss out of, and now you're the New Kid on the block.

Male runners never cease to disappoint me. I've always (until now, I recently found an awesome boyfriend) had a harebrained fantasy that I'd meet my Dream Guy at a race and we could go running together. FAIL! Everytime! :smash:

Not only that, but i happened to move to a town where everyone is an olympic athlete. So they take it serious, theres no joking about or going for an easy 50-100km ride, its all about going hard and fast and no talking and no coffee afterwards lol.
I do RPM classes with Sarah Ulmer (gold medal cyclist) as well as sit in the gym with Mahe Drysdale (Got a bronze dispite being sick with food poisoning), and the Evers-wadell twins (gold medal i think in rowing), amoung many others i dont even recognize. Its a town of 16k, and everyone knows or is related to some famous athlete. Its nicknamed 'The Town of Champions'.
So yeah, Cycling here just isnt as much fun :)

so, ive done 77km of running in the last 10 days apparently according to mapmyrun , thats good!
Frustration = doing that much running and not loosing any weight dispite eating well (and yes im logging it!) and drinking and doing everything right. Its seriously annoying to think perhaps you seem to be down a lb or 2 only to weigh in and be back up those 2 lb or so again!
The shins are a weeny bit achy AFTER runs, not at all during. So im cutting back to 8km runs rather than the bigger jump to the 10km as i was doing for a bit, stretching 3-4 times a day or whenever i remember to (pretty much any chance i get), and iceing the one shin that was giving me a bit of pain after running as well as arnica, deep heat etc and anything possible to prevent it before it becomes a problem.
Ive adjusted my stride according to things ive read so its a smoother, slower gait which looks a tad funny but has way less impact. Basicly run as silently as possibly (heal to tow, no slapping of feel .. kinda looks like speed walkers more lol). Also where im running (looking for flatter grounds, staying off concretes if possible).

Today i bought an ipod touch so that will be awesome to play with! My husband complains that apparently my cat cries when i go for a run and im not there , lol, shes such a cutie :)
so other than still running and stuff, things are good here.

OMG. That would be somewhat intimidating ...

Sometimes it's nice to just go at a leisurely pace.

It's supposed to be fun, isn't it? Do you find they take the "fun" out of what you're doing because it's so freaking competitive?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against competition at all. But these people are at a different level. They can't possible expect everybody else to be able to come up to their standards. It's unrealistic.

Well i dont mind competition, but on a fair scale ... as in the social cyclist against the social cyclist. I dont have the time to spend doing 6 hours a day cycling to get even near their level lol.

To be honest though, its really intimidating thinking how many km ive run in the last 10 days! i had no idea it was that much!

That's fucking crazy. Did you know this when you moved there?

All that running... it's not uncommon to hold weight, especially females.

Yep, On the plus side, down here there is a lot more respect for cyclists, people let you have the right of way and give you plenty of room! Often honks as in 'hi' as well. Downside is that nobody is really impressed with a 100km morning ride - its just the norm :D
In the city you would be shoved off the road and things thrown at you, even if you had the right of way people ignored it a lot. It was why i rode out in the country rather than in town a lot. Even still i used to get a bit of anxiety about it and stop riding for several weeks at a time occasionally.

Thats good to know ... :/
The figure definatly looks like its changing though which is what im more interested in. Just not the scale.
Whilst i have you here though Steve, whats some good stretches for legs? I think i have most of the usual ones sweet, but just thought you might have hookups for some webpage with cool ones that get the minor muscles i might be missing :)

That company you keep is mind blowing, wishes! I started reading that comment about everyone being an olympic athlete and thought you were being figurative at first - not talking literally!! Amazing.

On the plus side - there you are - moving where they move, doing things they do - not hiding out in your house! There is a very, very cool aspect to that!

Congrats on the k's and the care. Good luck.

hey girl how are you doing? I was in the neighborhood and was wondering if you still had the link for that NO CALORIE SOUP we did a long time ago?

Yeah its cool to be 'friends' with Sarah Ulmer, shes really nice as well as retired from cycling lol.

Hmm i put a copy up on my website ...

Dang i googled sacred heart and mine was first hit, totally bonus :)

Hmm so i noticed the other day i have pain in the shins so stopped running immediatly thinking it was shin splints, but then thought back a day or so later why. Ive known my right leg (the one with pain) has been different for a while now. When i cycled i noticed it didnt go straight up and down but out to the right more.
I checked my stride and noticed it also angled wrong which is whats probably brought on the shin splints. But then i recalled an accident i had which happened right before i started loosing weight. In fact it was one of my prime motivators.
Going down a water slide, i landed in the pool and my legs automaticly go down as i come off the slide to stand up. The pool was particularly shallow however and i impacted my heel severly with my entire fat self weight.
I was unable to get out of the pool and in fact had to have 2 guys try and carry me whilst i hopped, because i was far to fat to get carried, to the Medical room. I eventually went to hospital but it was seriously embarassing that 2 huge guys couldnt carry me and this happened in front of a pool full of people. Either way the end result was not the broken leg they thought but tendons ripped off the bone - eg instant really bad cast of shin splints.
So im wondering if this has impacted how my legs move and perhaps why ive only got the problem in this leg. This was also the same leg i had planter factitis when i was overweight also, and the foot pain in my sole occasionally rears its head (well it did until i got super fancy shoes).

Either way, its rest time now which peeves me off. Theres no way in heck ill be able to do a half marathon in a month i dont think. I may be able to do a 1/4 however. Ill see how it goes.

forgive me for i have sinned .... lots...... possibly as much as 3000 calories worth .... damned banana cakes ... both of them! :(

So darned cravey, i bet i have my monthly shite in the next day or two grrr

Bummer. Yesterday's bad news about the race wouldn't have helped with the cravings either - is it a good time to cool off in your pool or something? Fingers crossed for a quick recovery.

Race? what race?

Only thing i saw in the news was more aussie fires and more dead. I presume that you mean something about that americas cup thingee thats going on somewhere (heck im not even sure where let alone whos winning/losing!).

And nah i get cravey when its PMS time ive noticed, i just happened to have 2 banana cakes in front of me and a co-worker who also craved.

Leg is feeling better today, ive been walking on my heels to stregnthen muscles that should be stronger (the ones at the front of the calves. forget the name now). Pain is gone mostly but ill leave it till friday at least before running again.
Today is a new day anyway. its supposed to get up to 29C here today, that means the actual heat will be mid 30s-40s (terribly humid as well)

It sucks to have a bum limb. I hurt my knee playing ultimate frisbee and there is nothing you can do except let it heal and keep off it, though that's difficult to do when all you want to do is lose weight and exercise. About the cravings, I know what that's all about. Don't give in to them! And if you do, well tomorrow is a new day.

:grouphug: AWWW Sorry to hear about your leg but good to hear its feeling better :) Haha I am horrible and weak when cravings attack lol just look at my recent 9 month preggg i had no self control which is making it hard now ,but girl u r tough and you will get thru all of this!
