Heres a funny thing i saw in the news paper ...
Q. Why are bike seats are so narrow and uncomfortable and seemingly designed to cause maximum discomfort to the nether regions of both male and female.... ?
A. the design of the cycle seats is for safety reasons. "Cyclists often need to suddenly brake and loudly warn motorists who haven't seen them. The shape of the bike seat in conjunction with the sudden forward motion of the cyclist, under severe braking, allows the rider immediate access to a very high tone of voice essential for ensuring clear delivery of chosen warning language to vehicle drivers."

bwahahahaha!! ain't it the truth !!

Went to a wedding on the weekend, did have plans to wear one dress which was nice bit a tad black and i was thinking funeral. Then i saw a sale on and got this pink one for $40.
It looked better on me in the shop i swear! not the most flattering style and having a super skinny husband makes me look twice as big as i am lol :)

Anyway wedding was fun, we over ate, family had arguments, high strung sister-in-law overheard me talking to brother-in-law she doesnt get along with and automaticly assumed it was about her so stormed off in a hissy fit.
Im just sitting there gob smacked thinking 'hang on, in all the years we've known each other, never had any disagreement, and suddenly she thinks the worst of me?'
I figured a wedding wasnt the place to get into it so just left it, ill email her later. Perhaps she was having a particularly bad day.

Loving the pic wishes. I bet you still get a buzz out of seeing a frock like that in the shop and thinking you might be able to wear it. :) You look great! No need to worry about looking big next to your hubby any more. I love that pink on you - and the longer do as well.

So was everyone drinking at this wedding? I mean family spew is standard once the booze gets the best of the party. Every wedding I've ever been to creates a story for the next wedding with a "Do you remember when _______ slapped _______?"

Meh, you look right sexy in the dress, so stop fudging excuses. Think back 3 years - you'll float back to earth, trust me :)

I think i still look chunky in it, i didnt show you the yuck pic lol.
And yeah lots of drinking and no food made for fun drunken times. We left before it got too bad at 10pm (its an hour drive home)

Heart Attack Grill! I've been planning to visit there as soon as I get to the States for a while now. I thought I'd try the quad, but seeing as it's 8000 calories... that's just a bit TOO crazy for me.
Yeah i would probably go just for the fries in lard .... hmmm nom nom nom

So it was my4th week into my half marathon training program this week. So i started in at the 10km mark for my run. I did it find, got home ok, felt great!
admittedly i did it with a slower speed not wanting to overdo it, avg HR of about 152 instead of the usual 168ish of the faster pace.
This is what my program looks like
Week 1 - Mon Weds Fri - 3km - This gets the muscles all past the sore stage and working
Week 2 - Mon Weds Fri - 6.5km - Get used to longer runs
Week 3 - Mon Weds Fri - 6.5km - Plateau time so no shin splints
Week 4 - Mon Weds Fri - 10.5km - Upping the distance * this is where im at now
Week 5 - Mon Weds Fri - 10km
Week 6 & 7 - Mon Weds Fri - 15km - upping the distance
Week 8 - Sun - 20km - 1 week out from the race do race distance then 2 days rest
Week 8 - Weds Fri - 3-5km - short fast paced runs to keep the legs going but recovery in general
Week 9 - Sunday - 21km - Race day!

:) You're really getting there. How cool to extend yourself like this and be so close to achieving something special in a whole new area.

Damn Liz, you're kicking ass! Good for you. How are you liking running compared to biking?

Hating it as in Running really isnt my thing, but its a necessary evil, good for me and also since im over cycling.
However in saying that, its good in the fact that i have a new mountain now to climb, a new goal to work for, and im totally kicking butt.

Oh long time no see! hows it going?

I get that. I'm driven by the "challenge" aspect too.
Thats exactly it! I came i saw i conquered, now lets try something new ... :)

And in a humourous note not meant to offend - i found this quote describing religion ...
"A cosmic Jewish Zombie, who was his own father, can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.

I'm amazed you gave up cycling for running JUST LIKE THAT but right on, then! :cheers2: :hurray:

I LIKE that cute wedding pic--you DO look hot :cheers2:

Good luck on your half marathon training  I ran one back in October and it was lovely, but at about mile 10 I thought "just be fucking done already!!!" Miles 11-13 were particularly rough :drooling: I spent the rest of the day icing my knees, drinking champagne and eating cookies and ice cream :)

Liz ... you're inspiring.

After reading all of this I have come to the realization that I'm lazy. You guys can all dance circles around me!!!!

Good luck with your half marathon!!! Ain't no easy feat! :)

And for the record ... I dont have shin splits ... and dont plan to have either :)

I laughed both times because you were so polite. I just have one question: Was this 'Liz the Moderator' or 'Liz the Poster' that bit her lip ??

Thats exactly it! I came i saw i conquered, now lets try something new ... :)

This is one act I won't follow. As influential as you've been to me, and I truly admire your heart, I'll never be a runner. I had it erased in my memory banks to be a runner, I think, that and I loathe running.

No offense. Sounds about right to me :willy_nilly:

Hmm yeah i have had sore knees, so im gonna get some thing for that pre-emptively.
As for the cycling, im not completly giving it up at all, im just gonna get a hybrid bike so i can do some mountain biking as well and get some money back on the thing. Im just giving up the competitive stuff - it wasnt a quick decision either, since we moved town i dont have the guys i used to hang out with. Nobody to compete against really or clubs down here. Its just not the same :)

Lets just say the first post that was very minimal originally wasnt going to be .. it was edited, re-edited...re-edited then deleted and i said what i said .. think before post ... think before post .... think before post ...must think before i post ...

fucking aye, im not much of a runner either. Im doing it, and im love/hate with it. I dislike running, but im loving having the challenge if that makes sense?

Now i got challenged by an ex-co-worker to do the marathon in 3 months time ... the full monty ... i said ill see.
Unsure whats happening regarding kidney operations yet, and ill see how the half goes also. Ill train for it, but enter at last possible moment pretty much :)
