ok, i think im back.
it must have just been fluid after all that. How crazy is that. Its pretty much disappeared as quickly as it arrived. I took today off work and slept the entire day, feeling much better.

YAY!
I'm so glad you're feeling better, wishes!

Hey Wishes, I just sent your video to my sister who is starting up at a gym. I sent her a few motivational videos I've collected and yours was at the top of the list. Thanks :)
Wooo that would be cool. I think i had some somewhere once i bookmarked (if i can ever find em).

Well i managed to sleep last night without sleeping pills, and i slept well. Weight is still up, but nowhere near what it was. Im feeling back on my game again, and in fact its kind of prodded me to loose those last couple kg.

So yeah, back to logging the calories for a couple weeks, tightening the belt, and going for it.

On another note, in the news today the govt is apparently putting a report out that we need to focus on exercising more rather than diet for the obesity problem ... wtf kinda losers are they?
They keep going on about how most people are apparently over weight because they eat just a tiny bit too much, like an extra couple cookies etc or some shit and it slowly creeps up on them. I hate to say, but from my experiance thats a load of bullshit.
That might be correct for the average white house wife, but its completly wrong for the majority of seriously overweight people who predominantly live out in the bronx of our country. Not being raciest but majority of poor black people are seriously overweight, and not because of a few cookies! Its because they have massive feasts of KFC and McDonalds etc.
if somebody was to say to them 'hey heres an alternative way to cook your traditional food so you loose weight' and remove the takeaways, there would be a lot more happening.
And of course there are the ones who gain weight from sitting in front of a computer sucking back donuts and coke of course, thats hardley cookies either :)

it needs to be a combination of both - and i suppose it's easier to tel people they have to move more rather than they have to watch what they put in their mouth...

One of the problems in our country with the diet of poor families in general is the lack of access to grocery stores. If you're buying your groceries at the convenience store your diet is going to be messed up and that also leads to a lot of takeout. In general though, I agree that most people try and improve their weight by dropping the calories and not by exercising more. I think that exercise is a key rather than people who are constantly trying to live on 800 calories a day. I think that's why some women diet so much--its because they don't move at all. I also think the ammount of calories we are consuming today has not increased nearly as much as the ammount of physical labor we're doing. Gradma used to bake all the time, use real fat, and not use any diet products. She also had to walk everywhere and push a heavy carpet sweeeper or broom instead of a vaccuum cleaner designed to glide effortlessly. Modern convenience has made many of us (myself included) lazy.

Aaarrrrgggg!!!! Great, now some poor moron is doing to finish downing their Mickie D's and head off to the gym to lose weight. Won't it be crappy when he realizes that he can't even possibly work off the couple thousand calories they've consumed in ONE meal. Morons, morons, morons. Doesn't the gov't realize that fatties-in-denial loooove to hold on to crap like that. Its as bad as when studies come out saying that obesity is a genetic problem. Yup, suddenly their are millions of people out there saying that they're genetically fat...not fat because they're been eating takeout their entire lives. If the gov't keeps this crap up, I just might become an anarchist!!!

I'm with you, Canon, on most of it!!

lemon - hit the nail on the head!
I agree with Mal, you need both, but diet is the key, its 90% diet. No point going to the gym if you're eating McDs
I have a friend who walks 100m up the road and then wonders why she doesnt loose weight. She eats Mac and cheese every night for dinner, or pizza (and they have 4 large pizzas for 2 adults and 2 kids)

I agree that its 50/50, but I just work surrounded by women who are constantly dieting. When I ask what they're doing in terms of exercise they look at me like I'm insane and say either "oh I don't have time for that" or "I don't want to bulk up." I know of a lot more people who diet without exercising than I know that exercise without dieting. It may just be that I'm surrounded by women all day and my male friends are either not overweight or contentedly overweight and not trying to do anything at the moment.

i hate how people seem to think because ive lost weight that they have to justify everything and talk about it all the time.
Whenever i go to a friends place all i hear is 'oh ive lost weight this week! i havnt weighed myself, but my clothes are baggier so i know i lost weight!' even tho shes worn those pants all week and they've STRETCHED!
And she will tell me how she walked a whole 100 mtrs up the road! and only ate 3/4 of a pizza instead of a whole one!
The thing is, she things that she has to talk to me about this shit because i lost weight and so therefore it must be the only thing im interested in or something. Or maybe she feels like im judgeing her because shes massivly overweight.

All it does it annoy the shit outta me. Mind you, her hubby is a bit of a bullshit artist also :)

Hahahaha!!! The "stretchy pant diet". I know that one. I never make that weight loss judgment until I know that the pants have made it through the dryer. Otherwise, it feels like you gained ten pound every time you do laundry.

As for talking about weight loss all the time: doesn't she know that if you want to talk about it all the time, you join a forum. LOL.

You must be feeling better. Your forked tongue is coming out of hiding. :D I've missed it!

well i got up at 5am, had breakfast, rode my bike up to work (8.5km) waited for my riding partner, then we left there at 6am and rode 40km stopping only for coffee and got back at 8am. I waited in case anyone arrived at the usual 8am meeting place but nobody did so i rode home. Glad i wore my winter gear - it was a freezing morning!

Got home and made pancakes with fried banana and bacon, awesome breakfast. Nice weekend weather, and i have to go spent most of it installing and setting up a friends computer :)

Far out - that is an early start for a Saturday, wishes!! I am amazed that there was even one person for you to rendezvous with. Is it light at 6 am? Is your daylight saving finished for the year? Kudos to you anyway!! I bet you're feeling great and ready to have a wonderful rest of the weekend - despite the friendly work.

Ewww! I might wear a pair of pants two times and then wash them (and that all depends on how long I wore them the day before), but all week.....

Yeah i hate getting up early, its dark and freezing cold. Daylight savings is still in effect but not for long. Sun doesnt come up until about 6.30am. We have lights but they only work in the normal street lighting where you have some light already - not in the country. We had to ride slow in the country for a while until the sun came up. Glad i wore the winter super hero suit (matching cycling gear that looks like some kinda super hero costume .. keeps me warm though).

Hehe i have my fav pair of pants, they fit perfect and look totally hot when ive just washed them, within hours they look and feel to baggy and annoy the hell outta me :/

Tomorrow im doing a long 100km ride, i have a 90km race at the end of april and a 100km race at the beginning of april also, so need to make sure i can do it, and do it fast.
Last year i just wanted to finish, this year i want to be in the top 100 at least and do decent times.

...does it come with a cape?

100km! That absolutely flabbergasts me...that's right flabbergast. Totally amazing. My head can't even compute that distance. You're pretty damn incredible!

100km is about 60miles at a guesstimate. It takes about 4 hours .. on the other hand think of it this way.
Sitting on my ass having conversation with amusing cycle fellows for 4 hours whilst burning about 3500 calories in 1 day ... then stopping for a coffee and cake afterwards!

yeah i keep thinking i should get a red cape to go with the cycling outfit.

Must take a photo posed or something - it really leaves nothing to the imagination!

I could think about it that way, if those racing bikes had comfy seats a la a motor bikes - but in fact they have something that strikes me as more of a perch-on torture device.

It's awesome anyway wishes. It's totally great that you've found a sport that so pleases you and which you're still improving at!

well god darn it grrrrr!!!!
it 1am, some dickhead is having a party up the road and all night there have been youths screaming obscenties at each other. they finally shut up about midnight and then i just started falling asleep when my husband came into the bedroom and woke me up again. Since then i gave up. Now its 1am so even if i do fall asleep there is no way in hell im gonna be fit for riding at 6am.
Not to mention now im not even remotely tired, im overtired and hyped up and angry.

So i took a sleeping pill, cup of milk, slice of toast. now im just sitting here reading hopeing like hell they take hold soon because i can feel the munchies comming on real bad :/

well im using fitday atm for the last few days just to double check my numbers arnt creeping up.
To a point some things are (the coffees and odd cookie etc seem to never get counted), but on a whole im eating pretty much in the range i want to be, and fairly healthy.
Ill continue keeping it in check anyway.

Since i couldnt sleep last night i ended up baking apple crumble (apple cobbler to americans?), had that with custerd for breaky and a tiny bit of ice cream. Then lunch was uber late and more of a snack of spagetti on toast (like your spagetti-os i think).
Dinner is roast chicken and potatos and tons of veg to bulk it out.

Im tired - unbelievably tired. Still feeling out of sorts as i have been for the last week or so - no idea why. Better not be bloody pregnant! (had the tubes tied so not to much chance of that).
Other than that boring bored tired tiring blah blah ... i have 3 itchy bites next to my belly button which are driving me insane :)

Oh that is not the weekend I wished for you ...

soz about the lack of sleep ... it wasn't the party I was at ... we were loud but far away from non-party people.

Roast chicken and potatoes and lots of veges sounds nice but. :)
