This is totally amazing Nicole !! I'm completely proud of your effort as well. I can't wait to meet you !! I totally think our 250 lb combined loss deserves a shared event of some magnitude :)

I didn't mean to slight you in my last reply, you posted while I was doing my multi-reply, but hey, with such great news you deserve your own reply !!

Congrats Nicole !!

Good morning weight losers and supporters :)

Thank you all for the generous birthday wishes. The thousands of dollars you all sent was way over the top !! *teary-eyed* Who knew you all carried soooooo much ?? *chuckles*

meh, no incredibly drunken stories, not even a great birthday dinner story to share with ya all. The weather was really shitty here yesterday and I had to feather in a walk in between thunderboomers and spent the rest of my time online with my internet family being silly and getting into great discussions.

I told you all I was just serious about this 'going out' thing. It needed addressed and it has been done. It's a beautiful morning here, sunny skies and whatnot so that can only mean for me to get out the door and take a long bike ride. I love the 'ride', it's a great place to think and contemplate
future goals and dreams. I love having found this opportunity looking me square in the face - the 'what next' phase. I know my only limits are unconquered fears now.

"Wherever I may roam"

Well enjoy your ride and most of all the freedom you have that allows you to do it. i am under too much stress and have too's to be able to do anything, but wish this were over so I could. I am glad the the thunder boomers quit. I hate being stuck inside. Mainly cause it's with all 3 of my kids . Not fun. I love them but WOW being stuck inside all today is totrue!! Hope you have a great day!!:hug2:

Hi Randy! I'm glad you enjoyed your birthday despite the bad weather fouling up things. I hope you are having a great ride today and you come back feeling refreshed and inspired! Have a good one!

Ah, if only more of us faced our "unconquered fears". If I faced mine, I might start on the road to Pharmacy college, but I'm not a math whiz. Who knows what could happen.... Glad you enjoyed your birthday, and bike ride. I was researching bikes yesterday, I might want to add that to my exercise repetoire. Any news on the school front???

So maybe not now you can have that 'free range' I do, and I do feel your pain, but if I could have 3 kids all over again, I'd trade in a New York minute. This moment (last year and a half) is nowhere near as rewarding as when I was with my daughter at home. I'm sure three doesn't compare to my one but it wasn't my decision to stop at one. I woulda embraced 12 more kids given the chance.

Enjoy it while it last, Mechelle !! It goes by waaaaaay too fast !!

The day had a special aura about itself. It just felt right even though the mundane was the order of the day. Hard to explain, really.

Thanks for caring, too :)

heh, thank me for having the wisdom to not dish out stupid advice. I know when I'm subject-challenged :p

The bike is a great choice, beckster. I highly recommend it (obviously). I grind off a shitload of cals on my super-rides though I know you don't have the time I do. I think you'll love the low impact once you grow your bike-ass, like I did. I'm a sucker for tranquility, biking out in the woods just fills my plate with peace and harmony.

The 'what-ifs', well some we can fix via 'it's never too late', which I'm sure you're an advocate of, some just remain regrettable. I'd really be in fear for my life as a Pharmacist in this day-n-age. Blessing in disguise ?? maybe...

School (for me) is certainly going to be a rush-rush announcement, I'm sure of this.

Hope you had a good birthday!

- Sunny

Hello Sunny :) Thank you for the well wish. My b-day was fine-n-dandy :)

-------------

So kids, I got my 26 mile bike ride in today not to mention I took an hour walk tonight. I'm not sure what's fueling this drive other than boredom, nerves and it's too hot in here. During my 'break' I assumed guilt, I felt my exercise was almost like a meal. Maybe it's a sign of habit *shrugs* I just feel more comfortable having something to do than sit here all day doing nothing and yet I still feel like I have lots of time to do, well, nothing.

I took a break on my ride under a pavilion that are located on the trail at various intervals. I looked over and saw a lil green snake. He slunk over to take issue with me for occupying his temporary domain. Crazy, I know, but he looked annoyed. He started gnawing on my sneaker in protest. I gently ushered him off the concrete pad and sent him on his way to seek out much smaller prey :)

I dodged another snake bullet later when I happened upon a 'slightly big twig'. I generally ride around decent size branches and stuff and this particular one didn't seem to have alarming reason to avoid. I was too close to do much when I noticed it was way too straight to be a 'twig'. We surprised each other instantly, I hit his tail, he coiled back at my ankle - by the luck of gawd, that ankle was on the upstroke and his strike missed my bare ankle. He struck so rapidly, his momentum flung him under my back wheel. I gave him a solid crush. I turned back to see the snake thrashing and wriggling. I kept going. Sorry for your luck, snake. It was a Copperhead too, that woulda been trouble.

cycling and weight loss

Hey I see in your diary you're biking. I too am taking 30-35 k rides. Hadn't checked my weight in weeks but looked the other day and I have maintained my lowest weight of 180. I guess its helping keep it down.

Anyway, care to share if/how cycling has helped you? How long have you been at it?

My brother just gave me some cycling shorts. That was a big help. TMI?

I sure enjoy your posts, your humour.

Congrats on hitting your lowest. I have to assume biking is a huge contributor to this result.

I got a stationary last September - which I truly hated thus completely under-used the machine. The conventional mountain bike has been in my possession since early May. I totally fell in love with the mountain bike :)

How it's helping me ?? It's allowed me to increase my hours spent exercising. My 25+ mile rides usually keep me active for 3+ hours at a time where my walking was usually half that time or less. I'm truly a lazy guy so impact (or running from it) has been my achilles heel. If I find something I enjoy, I tend to stay with it. Low impact, high duration is my target exercises. The muscle group areas are different from walking also. I've had great results from biking in the lower ab region.

It's only TMI if the man shorts have a pee hole and you're actually using it :p

I sure enjoy your posts, your humour.

Thank you, Kelly. I try.

Good morning Randy! wow, your second snake encounter gave me chills...I probably would have fallen off my bike! Glad you avoided a bite. Have a good day! :)

But the first one was so cute !! he tried to gum me to death !! I had to laugh !!

Good place to bury that pic in my av. I posted it full size on my diabetes forum thread. You'll notice I don't spend a lot of time there.
