This Trucker Fights Back

if i recall correctly it was 800 calories + veg etc which probably rounds up to a resonable amount because i think he lives on em! :)

Did you say you eat only 800 calories a day? Are you still eating that amount?

Pretty much what Wishes said. I'm pretty steady with 1200 to 1500 with about 500 of it in catabolics. Not everyday is a perfect number, winter definitely brings on the 'snackies'. It's taken a lot of diligence to keep my numbers at a break even or better level. I do take great pride in using fruits and raw veggies for snacks. It's really not so bad if you make this decision at the grocery store. I don't answer the call to go drive somewhere to satisfy my cravings of something that would do me harm - which really decreases over time.

Pour some sugar on me (naturally) - hold the grease).

A Return to T2's Tips and Whatnots.

With the influx of new members, I thought it would be nice to go back to what I occasionally use to do on my diary (and really slipped away from :() and let you walk through my mind.

Nothing screams out in the dead of winter like a LARGE pizza brought to your front door piping hot, lift the lid and dig in. No warming up the car, no ice scraping, and you probably have a coupon for a nationally advertised 3-toppings pie for 9.99 (not counting the delivery vig and tip) sitting on your counter top.

or...

you could...

for about the same dinero...

have this...

all weekend...

guilt-free...

and...

loss weight while enjoying bowl after bowl :)

With a planned trip to the store, you could assemble this in less time than calling your pizza shop and waiting for the pie to arrive.

1 Jar of Del Monte Red Grapefruit (slightly sweetened) $2.82
1 Can of Dole Pineapple Chunks (100% Natural juices - no sugar added) $1.04
1 Pound of Strawberries (wash, top and one slice down the middle) $1.98
1 pound of any seedless Grapes $1.98
2 Apples (diced up and LEAVE THE SKIN ON !! - FIBER !!) $1.00
1 - 3.2 qt or bigger Tupperware bowl

After everything that needs washed, start dumping in the bowl (DON'T drain those juices !! we NEED those in the Tupperware bowl !!) and Viola !!

Of course this gets better when it chills and the strawberries start absorbing those luscious juices but now you have a whole weekend of snacking that you will lose weight with (providing you do other things right) every time you eat it because it's all catabolic :)

The sugar content isn't bad here because we're dealing with (mostly) natural sugars, this is ultra low carb and contains good intestinal sweepers. To add some extra health, lob in some blueberries for antioxidant properties and/or slice in some bananas at the time of serving for potassium. **Bananas tend to get funky if you keep them in the mix for a few days :( Each time you eat a filling bowl of this you will burn more calories digesting than what you took in eating it so have a negative balance of calories.

A couple little things I like to do to jazz this up is add a tiny amount (and I do mean tiny !!) of Sweet-n-Low or Splenda and at the time of eating, pour over some Diet Cherry 7up ;)

Enjoy !! and lose a pound or two for your effort

I'm getting there. In someways I'm way ahead of schedule, in others ways I've learned there will just be certain things I can't control and no longer need to try to control - just accept.

I've accepted this journey isn't the 'fountain of youth'. I'm going to age, all I can do is prolong my aging perhaps a bit longer than I was destined to be a short year ago.

My body is a tired body - as a generalization. 20-some years of avoiding daily usage of all the muscle groups have taken it's toll and the diabetes has certainly done its damage as well. I can accept my limits and I further acknowledge there isn't a Mr. America body waiting for me at the end of this journey, a better body - maybe but my plan never included a high maintenance sculptured greek god physique so anything from 'thin-ish' to normal would suffice me just fine.

After all, I'm doing this for me, me is all I need to please. 'Pleased' is a fairly accurate adjective for me presently but I think 'pleased' doesn't change even when I hit my goal weight, I've been 'pleased' for some time during the many different phases so far especially the fact I'm still on my journey. This is what I can control - the journey itself, the support here is just a beautiful bonus. There are times when what you people say and do mean so much more to my mission than you'll ever know and a lot of times never write about.

For the first time in many of our lives, we have our own cheering section and to some it makes all the difference in the world be it we use it to be the 'star' or to brag or plain 'ol accountability and the fear of 'letting everyone down', it individually means bunches.

Thanks for all that you say and do for me on here. You all have made this a great journey.

When I first joined this forum, yours was one of the first diaries I read. It inspired me. I have been fighting these last few lbs for a while now, but when I read your diary, I just knew I could make it. I get discouraged and frustrated along the way, but I know with the help of everyone on here, I acnm make it. BEcause I can!! So I know where you are coming from. Sometimes just being on here pulls me out of a rut. I am cheering for you!!:)

problem with cravings is that you actually crave it, not just being hungry :)

A bowl of fruit or vege is sooo not gonna get rid of my cravings for pizza :D
I just jiggle my calories around so i can have 1-2 pieces of pizza , enough to satisfy the craving then go back to eating healthy for the rest of the week :)

I think one of the great things about eating yummy healthy food and really enjoying it, is that it mostly stops the cravings before they get started. After such a long time of being controlled by them, I love the light airy feeling of their absence!! :)

g'morning & g'afternoon - I'll be back later today, but wanted to get a hello in :D

Have a good weekend Randy and I hope it's walking weather!

I'm sure we all have moments of discouragement and frustration along the way, it's what our minds and hands do at that moment that make us or breaks us. Your position is unique to me because I'm not that close yet but extensive reading on here has left me well aware that the less you weigh, the harder it is to lose. My only thought is your decisions amplify greatly and the same diligence is needed to to lose 5 lbs vs. 150 lbs because I'm guessing one sees more 'wiggle room' when losing 5 lbs whereas a 150 lb loser really accepts a long term event is in there face and settles in for the long haul.

You can do this Mechelle, just be kind to yourself until you get to where you're gonna be the happiest weight-wise.

That's certainly an option - for some. I'd just as soon face my mental demons and put them in their place but that's just me.

MMMMmmmm! I love fruit!

Well living on the Nile one probably has to get use to eating figs and whatnot :D

Agree, beating the cravings to the punch has served me well and I do it with foods I enjoy. I tried those Lean Pocket pizzas on this journey once and they tasted so terrible after such a long absence that I found no pleasing reason to purchase them again. Even though they satisfy the calorie levels per day safely I still desired to cleaner, healthier foods that I know I've come to enjoy daily.

Good morning Debi :)

I snuck in a walk yesterday even though it was a short one and as I look out the window, we finally got our snow overnight. It's bitter cold out and with the wind blowing today looks like a bust.

Enjoy your day Debi :) all 75 degrees of it

ha !! I just picked a safe number. I'm sure it's gonna be nicer there than here today - enjoy it !!

location location location !!

Grrr...
You got my hopes up!

High of 62 today :p

Of course, that might not SEEM cold to someone who's blood is a little thicker ;)

Well, I'm NOT complaining - I stepped outside in my blue & white sky & cloud flanel pj's and it's cool and crisp, but clear and with the makings of a gorgeous day :D

Granted, I'm glad I'm not out there swimming ;)

At night, after practice when the kids get out of the water, it's SO cold!
Back East swimmers have INdoor pools ;)
