I think it would be totally amazing to hear someone actually make this

Maybe I will.

Backatya Patty. another 'etc' weekend in the plans ?? *seriously evil grin*

Etc planned this weekend - friends over last night, kids playing outside, temp dropped to a high of 73 (avg high 83), and was 68 after dark so since winter (haha) came upon us Texans, we pulled out the jeans, long sleeve shirts, cowboy hats, the fire pit, some folks made chile, and s'mores. I know it wasn't remotely cold to you Northerners (Midwesterners), but we are so ready for a break from the heat! Course my family and one other family had spicy shrimp, corn on the cob and roasted rosemary, garlic new potatoes (w/ s&p, red pepper flakes and EVOO). About to run my 5k this am, go watch the girls play soccer, take them to some fall festivals (maybe the one my elementary school has hosted since I was a kid). Going to go to an Italian festival on Sunday - some friends who own a nearby pizzeria are competing (yeah it stinks to have friends who own a pizzeria because you can't give them as much business as you'd like when you are watching what you eat, by the way they make an awesome award winning bbq brisket on cornbread crust pizza, but I digress). Oh, and weight training on Sunday. So it's a good, wholesome family weekend. Just what the Dr. ordered.

Oh, a friend emailed a link to about 100 pics that chronicled our girls weekend. It's like watching a movie, she really caught the essence of the weekend. I'm thinking of posting that link for my Part 2 discussion. Saves a lot of time talking (1000 words x 100 pics).

Have a great day!

Hey T2!!
Just checking to see what you've been up to! MMMmmmmm, soup. I love homemade soup, not so much the canned stuff. Hmmmm, I think I know what I'll cook this week. LOL

That tomato soup sound good.
Stopping in to say hi! Happy friday, I hope you have a good weekend!

Thank you for the weekend wish and right back at ya ;) Pretty boring weekend planned here - the usual football/baseball/nascar TV hawking. I just had a bowl of oatmeal and will be heading out for my walk here shortly providing it doesn't rain.

Please tell me you have something more exciting planned than me !! Wouldn't take much, even clear out there.

Maybe I will.

I better swing on by and read part II then, sure would love to see how the other half live ;) I must say the spicy shrimp and new taters brought my salivation levels up considerably and in the same fell swoop made me weep like baby Jesus reading all things Italian food.

Another soup maker ?? This just gives me the tingles if you guys really do try it. I'd be curious to hear if anyone likes it.

Hey T2, just wishing you a good weekend :D

Hi Debi and hoping you have a weekend that brings a smile to your (always narrowing) face :) I'm shooting for 2.5 miles today. I'm still only striving for one monster walk a week. The 2 to 3 mile range is probaly getting a lil too easy for me now but for some reason I can't get disciplined enough to be a steady 4-5 miler everyday.

Hey Mana !! nice to see you out and about touring the WL circuit. Congrats on the 220 !! Let me know if the soup will make the grade for Mana's Diner Menu. It's certainly the season for it but I'm on pins and needles awaiting your decision *biting nails here*

well, as a matter of fact I do have something more exciting planned. I am working! isn't that exciting! Okay, maybe not. Tomorrow I have my first sunday off in 6 weeks. What will I do with all that time, all 24 hours of it? I think I may do laundry and get ready for my trip next week.

I hope the rain holds off till after your walk, or at the very least till the very end of it. I had oatmeal for dinner last night, you must have sensed my psychic vibrations.

disability is not fun, I know, my ex husband was on it for a few years after he broke his back (before we were married and before our son was born). And getting that office to pay for his re-education was like pulling teeth from a crocadile. Eventually he was retrained but at our own expense. now he's back on diablilty again with wife number 3 and child number 3 and addicted to oxycontin. I'm so glad I got out when I did.

Pretty harsh story Iwan. After dealing with my own "D", I'm always in favor of anyone taking the courage to do the right thing. Usually the troublesome decision of which struggle to take on is a difficult one, I think the grind of starting anew is favorable to most.

I can't even begin to explain how I feel about becoming disable because of obesity. Injury I can understand, but geez louise, I just got real fat and real sick with no reasonable excuse - oh well, I'm moving on with it, not much more to say about it really..

T2, I get the feeling that you're facing some demons. In the immortal words of Pumba (the lion king)---put your 'behind' in your past. What's done is done, you've made the changes and now all you have to do is look forward to the future! :)

Evenin Tooter - just droppin by to say so far the soup smells mind numbingly yummy. It's been cooking since 1p!! I got to butcher the gaint whole shoulder roast and nicked my finger. :( We're skipping the noodles in the soup and having corn bread muffins with it. Wanna come over for supper? ;):D

Anyway! Have a great evening!!

Sorry Kaitie, wearing my heart on my sleeve is one of my Achilles Heel's in the game of life but on the upswing it's made for an interesting diary at times (I hope), I brought the whole seesaw in here be it a good thing or a bad thing.

Thanks for the boost. John is a lucky man (I've sid that from your very first post)

Mmmmm. I can't wait to hear about the taste test. I flippin' stoked you made this. Corn bread muffins will compliment the soup nicely. Our staple was buttered white toast for dipping.

I must say, I never had it with human body parts in it - Ouchers Peq !!

I hope you and your family enjoy it as much our generations have. :)

Hey, some of us need to be hit by the train to realize our lifestyles are the source of our problems. Nothing wrong with that. Live and learn. You have done an amazing job of learing that lesson and then coming here and letting us all learn from you. You took a negative and turned it into a positive. Thats some powerful stuff, it takes alot to do what you did. To stand back and say, this needs changing and I'M GOING TO CHANGE IT!

I always tell my "clients" that everybody has a rock bottom. Some peoples bottoms are way deeper than others. And some people take alot longer getting back to the surface no matter how deep the hole. The point is to get back to the surface. I think your back Randy.

*waiting on the darn rice to cook* :D

Listen to Iwan - smart lady right there!!

I tend to believe that everything happens for a reason from life itself to death. And for what ever reason, you were presented with some rough obstacles. But you are learning from them and I'm sure you're a better, stronger person for them.

It just can't be said enough: You are an inspiration. I don't think I could have done what I'm doing without you and a lot of the people on here, that are just doing their thing, trying to get their lives back together too. You make me feel like, if you're strong enough to do it then maybe I can find my strength somewhere around here too.

Anyway... time to check the rice. :D

Hello T2,
Sorry to hear about you feeling bad and sad but that's
what it took to get ya where you are today and I am glad I
am not the only 1 that felt that way, the out of breath from
walking a block, the putting the kids off on going out to public
places such as swimming amusement parks camping ect, do to
depresion and out of shape I was! I knew it was a "BIG" problem
when it starts to effect my kids and thier happyness.

What turned it around for me 1 day was my son drew a pic for me
at school and 1 side of the paper was Dad &2 sisters and brother and
him the other 1/2 of paper was "MOM" this big huge circle with legs
and arms and I said to myself geeesh is this how my kids see me!
Also the pink cordaroils I was wearing on xmas 2 years ago I was
so big I had to weigh more than 255 in that!
Anyway we are all on the right track now and we are getting fit and
healthy for all sorts of reasons!
Have a great Saturday !!! Tammy:D

Sounds like a familiar story - you sure we wernt married to the same guy ?!

My first husband hurt his back, but it happened long before i met him. He would be fine all week and suddenly as soon as he went to a docter, he would start walking funny and holding his back etc. I dont think it was intentional - he just got so used to being on disability he had convinced himself he had a problem.

Long story short, i put up with it for 5 years then i grew up and wanted more from a guy than sitting on a benifit feeling sorry for himself.

Now im married to an awesome dude and have been with him for 7 years. The kids are very happy and so am I!
