That's the part that freaks me out, when I was my heaviest, no injury - six months later and 110lbs+ less, whammo !! I think I stayed in those old sneaks too long.

I recommend new balance. they feel good and they are pretty light weight.
I'm sportin' the nikes right now.. they're just ok. Pretent that the budget is unlimited![]()
Trucker: My hair is super longHope your walks are going well!
Hey T2!
This weather is soooo awesome and like you said
when the leaves change color and start to fall even makes it more
beautiful to walk. I actually look forward to walking more now than
ever alot having to do with weather!
Now winter "BLAH BLAH YUCKY POO" a little snow for thanksgiving and
some on xmas and don't drop below 50 and winter could be perfect!
Enjoy your walks and keep up the good work. t a m m y![]()
Seriously, I hope M2M chimes in. She might have the 411 between herself and her walking buddies. Maybe than can hook ya up with "the good stuff"
I'm getting ready to go to bed, and wasn't going to read diaries tonight, but I had to stop by here first...
I'll pull out some info tomorrow once I get the chance - but I wanted to mention real quick is about New Balance...
While that's what I am currently wearing, the biggest caveat I have against them is that the heal cushioning breaks down *quickly* much quicker then the sole support.
T2 - I remember a long time ago you mentioning how many miles were on your old NB 608's - IIRC, you had a lot of miles on them - which would explain your heal problem.
The heal cushioning is simply a foam (and not a real high quality one at that) - once it breaks down, it's gone. The recommendation is to replace them between 400-600 miles.
But what's the weight limit on those miles? I know at 200+ lbs, I'm going to break down the cushion of those heals a lot sooner than 400 miles then I will at 150lbs.
That being said, what I like about NB is the size of the toe box - my feet feel like they can breath whereas the Nikes (180s) fit tighter around the frame of my foot, and tend to be smaller in the toe box - but the heal support is phenomenal.
I think it's really important to go someplace that knows athletic shoes and have your feet properly fitted.
When I started walking, I was wearing Land's End mule sandals that consistently rubbed my feet raw in places.
I was not smartYour feet MUST be protected and pampered, we pound them into the ground *all* the time.
OK - now I'm going to bed![]()
I just bought some New Balance shoes today...they feel good so far. I love that they are a tiny bit wider, to accomodate my slightly larger feet (why, oh why do feet grow when you have kids?)
I definately have to say get new sneaks!! I trade mine in every few months, believe it or not. A friend of mine told me her sister ended up having a hip replacement from running way too long on an old pair of sneakers!!
*OHD waves good morning!*Got my forum love in my hip pocket, just as you prescribed!

Have a great Tuesday!![]()
I like New Balance.
Have short hair now.Have gone back and forth, but short works for me. Of course Cat is hot, hot, hot, tho she probably has someone to do her hair for her.
Wish we had leaf change here. But we have just two seasons - blazin' hot and not-as-hot. Though it was a cool 57 degrees during my 6am walk here. High of 87 forecast here. I'm glad I'm getting up and catching these cool mornings to walk/jog. Makes it more bearable here.
Hope is all well with you T2. Just came by to say 'Hi'.
In a man's world, keeping sneakers ranks up there with T-shirts and underwear. We always aim for at least 10 years of ownership as rule, many of us have made the 15 year mark on sheer pride alone
OMG - I don't want to imagine the closet smell! EEEEEeeeekkkk!
That being said, a shoe can still look really good, but once the heal cushion degrades, there's no going back and considering the pounding our heals take, we've got to take care of them. Especially if this is something we love - because when we can't walk, it hurts in more ways then one.
And T2, you're so right - for many, myself included, this was my first romp into serious athletics with the exception of my martial arts studies - however, that wasn't full blown cardio except during sparring.
Oh yeah, also, I'll never underplay the seriousness of walking gear again. I really need to get a second pair and rotate as I've read this is the smart thing to do. I've read some even have a 3rd pair in their rotation, you know these people know the score and their advice/experience should be acknowledged.
WoW 87 in late September ?? way the hell up there ?? I woulda never guessed you'd see temps that high till next August.
(
I'm sorry to hear about the short hair story. I'll be depressed all day now
(
Ancient chinese secret huh ??The secret for mens undies is: have a large rotation/inventory. I bagged up my 3X's last month and had 42 pairs of tighty whiteys and not a hole in any of them *PROUD* I am currently trying boxer briefs, I'm kinda diggin it too. it really 'brings things together' in a nice way
No, I'm in Houston.
hahaha. Nah, it's all good. One of these days (when I get there) I'll post my before and after pics, with frumpy long hair and extra weight vs short hair and trim me. It's stylish now vs. always a ponytail before.
omg you are too funny.
