This is the time

I think coffee iin the uk is white coffee.. .

theres a new yorkism that always befuddles people - in new york and new york alone - a regular coffee is coffee w/ milk and two sugars.. :) always...
I'd never heard that one. :) Well that won't be helping the New York section of the obesity epidemic will it!! :D

Morning Feli!!
You said you had a pear yesterday, mmmmm I love those and I'm glad you posted that, because it reminded me that I need to go to the store today and buy some fresh fruit for the office. What fuit grows well in your neck of the woods?? Do you have a lot of fruit in season right now?? I'm heading into the kitchen to grab myself a cup of white coffee. :) Have a great day today!!!
~hugs~
Kim
We get heaps of great fruit. Seasonally this is the time the summer fruit is disappearing but the best time for fresh apples and pears. I go in for citrus more now too - I don't know if it's better now or if it's just that it's more noticable with the other things going.

Mornin Felici! How are you this morning...just making my rounds! :)
I'm glad you're able to be around a bit more now. :) I am fine this evening. I should be tired out like I was today - so then I would make sure I get to bed early the way I should!!

I find it's easier for me to do this if I aim to do it all the time. But I have missed a couple of beats lately. I can't get too upset about it though - that would be unrealistic and I honestly don't feel that those times have been warning signs or anything - just a couple of days when things didn't pan out.

Hmm. That's just reminded me that tomorrow I am planning to go out for the evening -despite also planning to work, take the boy to the bank, collect the girl from dancing, buy fish, and cook dinner. :)

Well that's not really going to work is it? I don't really know how I manage to keep those incompatible ideas floating around in there without noticing, but I constantly do.

OK. Boy is time shifted to Friday. Therefore there is a nice clear space between 3:45ish and 5:30 for exercise and shopping, and a squashy little space between 6:00 and 6:30 for cooking. :)

Well I dont really think you ahve missed many beats you are doing great - you've always been cosnistant - soemtimes thigns jsut fdont pan out the way we want them too - part of life - and beign a mom and so on...your always dead on with eatign and exercising that I can see for the most part tha tis awesome and takes dedication...

Oh and I love your last two lines !!! HA HA HA

Hey Felici. You always do seem spot on to me. The thing in the US I find so funny is the local dialect for soft drinks. Where I'm from their called pop and a soda is something with ice cream, but that changes very regionally. There are about a dozen terms used for the stuff in the US alone.

We call it "cool drink". :) Soda is not such a strange sounding term to me, but I always feel funny trying to use the term "pop" to explain what I mean because it sounds like "lollipop", ie a stick with a sweet/lolly/sweetie/candy on one end.

I hadn't realized there were differences from one part of the US to another, I thought the words were interchangeable for you all.

Hi Felici!

:hug2:

You food looks delicious as always! Hope you're feeling good :)

Kez

Thanks Kez. I've had a bit on the last few days and not been visiting here much.

I'd like to say I'm feeling as good as usual, but actually I am a bit off. I have been letting myself get by without enough sleep lately and now I am very tired. Also today I am getting a cold - maybe because I haven't had enough sleep. Anyway I am tired and impatient and cranky and hungry. Also feel I have been neglectful here, but this is not going to be the time to fix that as I need to have an early night. The tiredness and my impulses towards the food I have decided not to have, are for sure connected. Tomorrow is Mother's Day here. I have arranged to go with one of my sisters, and my daughter and my mother to a coffee shop for afternoon tea. This has turned out to be bad timing.

Though I have eaten the way I've decided to without a lot of lapses these last few months, and I'm confident I will continue with this, I am cautious about putting myself in a position where it's hard to do. I have a lot of experience in treating eating well as a challenge that I am trying to deal with through will more than wit, and it's shown me that wit is required. It will take a bit of will just now though.

My weight.
Today is Saturday. I ate carefully beforehand and timed my weighing to correspond fairly well with last week, though it was unavoidable that by the time I was weighing, drinking/not drinking water could have had an impact. I worked out the calories I'd used in the same way as last week and had a deficit of 6165 for the week. However, I weigh exactly the same as last week. So that's 3 weeks in a row with little or no change. I redid the tape measurements. They randomly look a bit bigger, a bit smaller, or just the same.

I don't know. Practically every figure I use is a bit dodgy. I think the estimates for calories in food and exercise are conservative. Is the BMR I'm using correct? Maybe not. Maybe the BMR I should be using is the one for a sedentary lifestyle. I taught school for 4 days, washed, cooked and cleaned (a bit) for 7 days - but I still sat down a lot during the week. Even if I calculate using the lowest possible BMR, then my deficit for the week would be 4258 cal - a little over a 1 pound loss I think. Then again a pound is only a couple of glasses of water - the amount I drank an hour before I weighed myself (which I really needed!).

I feel ok. I feel like I ate ok, and exercised ok. There were 2 or three things that weren't really what I wanted but I don't think they would add up to not losing weight by themselves. I want to change something though. I'm going to try continuing with what I was doing but up the exercise by including more jogging on the trampoline. I tried it yesterday and decided it's not so noisy that I couldn't do it inside. Also, I could do it without taking time away from anything else I do. So that's my plan for now. I don't want to change the food much because I can't tell whether that would make things better or worse. Adding jogging might help and can't hurt, as far as I can tell.

What about the dodgy measurements? I don't know. I could buy scales and then just wonder about whether I should have trimmed my nose hair shorter... and wonder about it on a daily basis instead of once a week...

EDIT: OK. I bought the scales. Five day rolling averages here I come. Truthfully though, I think the scales were right already. Sure they could have coincidentally, for a succession of different reasons landed me on virtually the same number three weeks in a row even though they never have before  , but probably they are just showing that I'm not losing right now.

Hey you - it happens to all of us the weight loss is easy in the beginning or easier I should say to a point nzd then we get plateaued - you have been going hard and strong for a long time now and loosing consistantly...Maybe your body just needs a little rest or maybe you need to shock your system a bit - I wish I had the answers Ive been plateaued for months - even though Ive been indulging a bit here and there it isnt enough to through me off track...your totally not in this alone - there are quite a few of us stuck in ruts or not losign weight and babling plateaus...

It will happen though - you will move than scale again soon girl :hug2:

Hey Feli!! I hope you get the rest you need!! You sound really tired! it's weird how you can sense that even by reading a post. Your doing everything you should, so don't be frustrated by the weight. I'm in my 3rd week now of my 2nd month and I've only lost 1.5 pounds, that's sad because last month I dropped over 10. but...... I've lost more inches this month. So I just take it anymore with a grain of salt, and let it happen. I think maybe your going through the same thing. Just let it go and soon, real soon you will be seeing it in your clothes again, they will once again become baggy and you will be like "WOW" how did that happen. Just get the rest my friend, that is MOST IMPORTANT!!! for body and mind. I hope you have one marvelous MOTHERS DAY!! with your family. I love this time of the year, it's so sweet! Enjoy your day! I'll be checking in later to see if you got that rest.
Kim

Hi Felici I agree I hope you got lots of sleep!

I'm also a bit sleep deprived now, exam stress and all

And I haven't lost any weight for 2 weeks either  it's so frustrating when you know you've been good.

I think it was probably wise thing for you to have bought the scales though. At least now you will know for sure, one way or the other. And if you get 'addicted' to them again, you can always give them to a friend to look after!

As for the trip out for mothers day, don't worry about it. If you want to be 'good', just keep reminding yourself of all the times you have resisted temptation in the past, and if you did it then you can do it now! Otherwise, maybe you should treat yourself a little, without feeling guilty, maybe it's just what you need! Either way have a great day and happy mother's day! In the UK Mother's day was in March, I didn't realise everyone else didn't have it til May!

:hug2:

Thanks Cerella. I know I will need to start being patient. At least I have lost enough weight to normally feel much better than I did and to really value the exercise.

Thanks Kim. I had a massive sleep (13 hours minus half an hour when I got up and received some nicely chosen Mother's Day gifts), and felt heaps better for it. :)

Thanks kez. You are doing amazingly well - I have been seeing how good you have been with your food and exercise and really think you have even more reason than I to feel aggrieved about the lack of cooperation from your scales - but I know your focus is on your exams right now! :)

I ended up having my cappuccino and feeling happy about it. I think that nice long sleep had fixed me up to feeling much more like I normally do. Those display cases of cakes do look amazing and sometimes I feel like - "Is this the time to indulge?" or "I've been good for ages one thing won't hurt." But the truth is that in lots of ways I'm not that keen. What if I chose something and it wasn't out of this world!? I mean it would have to be, to make it worth changing my plans for. And then I would have to handle the confusion about not wanting it and liking it at the same time... I have had 2 people lately try to actually persuade me to eat something verboten, on the basis that it's too small or too nearly healthy to matter. That's probably true as far as calories go but not as far as messing with my mind goes.... I have set rules for when I can break out and today didn't fit. (Not a birthday and not Christmas and not going to make me feel deprived if I miss it. :D)

I hope you're feeling better today :)

Cheers !!

I am!! Thank you for the kind thoughts. :D

HAPPY MOM'S DAY!!!
And Happy Mom's Day to you too. :)

I actually like doing the Egg McMuffin thing myself when I'm running late in the morning. If you watch the fat and sodium in your other meals its not a nutritionally horrible fast food alternative. I hope you had a fantastic mother's day.

Thanks for the Mother's Day messages. The McMuffin was part of the Mother's Day breakfast thing. :) Best of bad options I hope. I loved some of my gifts. My boy was very chuffed because I told him exactly what I wanted, but said for him to tell Dad. I knew that hadn't worked out so I had given up on getting it. My son bought it for me one day then quite unnecessarily covered his tracks the next day by asking me what I wanted and suggesting a very different option. He was very pleased with himself, and I was pleased too. Everything else in the day was also smooth and happy. Considering I have at times heard stories of extreme Mother's Day disgruntlement, I have to consider that I did well.

It's after work on Monday now. I have worked hard with some little children who just started kindy (the youngest level of school here), 2 weeks ago and are not well socialized. My throat has taken quite a dive, but I am still expecting to go back tomorrow. If I don't post tonight that will be why. I am still hopeful about my exercise for today.
