Great work on the sprints, Felici. As you keep doing them, you'll get better and better at it.
Have you thought about what a great example you're setting for your daughter?
On thing I learned raising our two kids -- they follow what you do, not what you say. This is especially true in the teenage years. So as you continue to exercise and eat healthy, you will imprint this message on your teenager's brain, and that's a gift that will last them a lifetime.
Actually I hadn't thought about that particular aspect, Tom. Thank you for the thought. I'm sure it's very relevant especially where my girl is concerned - she is quite conscious and open about copying me - both for good and bad.
Hey felici-
Your workouts are really great. Don't you love doing the bursts of high intensity in your cardio workouts? It has made such a difference for me. Sometimes, it'ss exhausting, but it sure feels good.
You talk quite a bit about the pulses you reach, but I bet you've seen an improvement in your resting heartrate, too (which is the real measure of cardiac fitness).
Keep up the amazing work!
Jen
Thanks a lot Jen. I sure do love the after effect of high intensity bursts. I'm sure that's what keeps me pursuing them, because just before I start my feeling is pretty much trepidation - and then there are a lot of sensations that are not too pleasant. I just love the raw chest feeling I take home with me, though.
Actually I only take my pulse to try to get an idea of how intense the work has been. I keep meaning to take my resting pulse rate before I get out of bed. However, I constantly forget - I have the habit of stretching before I start thinking and as soon as I do start thinking, I think about breakfast! The only exceptions are when I am excited about something else (not good for getting my lowest possible pulse I think). I am kind of hoping that if I ever manage a true, just-woke-up pulse it will look nice, but my ordinary, daily pulse is still 72 like it has been forever.
Hey Felici your exercise looks great!
Well done on resisting that biscuit.
TomO is totally right. My Mum is one of my main inspirations for doing this. She was fat my whole life (I mean over 300lbs). And I was always very scared I would end up the same! But last year she lost 8 stone! (112lbs) She is such a great example to me. I never really believed that she could do it! Honestly, I know that if she can, this should be a doddle for me!
Thanks kezzy. That is an amazing story about your mum! I can see how inspiring it must be for you. It's true that we don't have any unalterable pattern we have to follow.
it is awesome for you to be able to recognize this and deal with it...growth and change are amazing things!!!
Absolutely. I am constantly amazed at the way my thinking about food and exercise has changed since I joined this place. I think I need to keep remembering that it's different, because I reckon if it could change this way, it could change back. I'm not even down to being merely overweight yet - and I want my awareness of how nasty it was where I started, to be deeply concreted into my consciousness, warning me to stay away from that place.
