This is the time

Hey Felici your exercise looks great!

Well done on resisting that biscuit.

TomO is totally right. My Mum is one of my main inspirations for doing this. She was fat my whole life (I mean over 300lbs). And I was always very scared I would end up the same! But last year she lost 8 stone! (112lbs) She is such a great example to me. I never really believed that she could do it! Honestly, I know that if she can, this should be a doddle for me!

Right now I'm feeling off. I fell asleep after dinner (bored because I couldn't get on the computer?) and woke after half an hour or so. I was cranky, unsettled and hungry though I believe I've had enough food. I'm pretty sure this is just to do with feeling sleepy. I don't know why this is the time I should feel like this but the feeling and the connection to eating seems rather familiar. It's not hard to deal with just now. I just wanted to identify it. It used to do me such a lot of damage.

it is awesome for you to be able to recognize this and deal with it...growth and change are amazing things!!!

Great work on the sprints, Felici. As you keep doing them, you'll get better and better at it.

Have you thought about what a great example you're setting for your daughter?

On thing I learned raising our two kids -- they follow what you do, not what you say. This is especially true in the teenage years. So as you continue to exercise and eat healthy, you will imprint this message on your teenager's brain, and that's a gift that will last them a lifetime.
Actually I hadn't thought about that particular aspect, Tom. Thank you for the thought. I'm sure it's very relevant especially where my girl is concerned - she is quite conscious and open about copying me - both for good and bad.

Hey felici-
Your workouts are really great. Don't you love doing the bursts of high intensity in your cardio workouts? It has made such a difference for me. Sometimes, it'ss exhausting, but it sure feels good.

You talk quite a bit about the pulses you reach, but I bet you've seen an improvement in your resting heartrate, too (which is the real measure of cardiac fitness).

Keep up the amazing work!

Jen
Thanks a lot Jen. I sure do love the after effect of high intensity bursts. I'm sure that's what keeps me pursuing them, because just before I start my feeling is pretty much trepidation - and then there are a lot of sensations that are not too pleasant. I just love the raw chest feeling I take home with me, though.

Actually I only take my pulse to try to get an idea of how intense the work has been. I keep meaning to take my resting pulse rate before I get out of bed. However, I constantly forget - I have the habit of stretching before I start thinking and as soon as I do start thinking, I think about breakfast! The only exceptions are when I am excited about something else (not good for getting my lowest possible pulse I think). I am kind of hoping that if I ever manage a true, just-woke-up pulse it will look nice, but my ordinary, daily pulse is still 72 like it has been forever.

Thanks kezzy. That is an amazing story about your mum! I can see how inspiring it must be for you. It's true that we don't have any unalterable pattern we have to follow.

Absolutely. I am constantly amazed at the way my thinking about food and exercise has changed since I joined this place. I think I need to keep remembering that it's different, because I reckon if it could change this way, it could change back. I'm not even down to being merely overweight yet - and I want my awareness of how nasty it was where I started, to be deeply concreted into my consciousness, warning me to stay away from that place.

Breakfast 9:00 2 weetbix, 1/3 C diced peaches, 1C low fat soy milk. 1 slice wholemeal toast with minimal margarine and marmalade. Boiled egg.1 C coffee with 40 ml Hilo milk.

Snack: 10:30 Pear. White coffee.

Lunch:12:15 2 Salada crackers. 100 gm low fat cottage cheese, tomato.

Snack: 3:30 1/2 Salada cracker.

Dinner:7:00
~200 ml tinned "Winter vegetable' soup. About 30-40 gm cold chicken. ~ 3/4 C leftover spaghetti - probably with 1/2 serve sauce like yesterday but with light evaporated milk added. 1 tub apricot diet yoghurt. Handful of almonds....
Finally decided that not having a defined meal was dragging on and that I should have had salad before trying almonds so that my need to chew had been dealt with!
1 stalk celery, 1 capsicum, handful of snow peas.

Exercise:
5:20pm 20 minutes Tae Bo tape. I couldn't do the kicks properly and probably mucked up the moves - but at least I could sort of keep up!

10:12
Body weight exercises ~ 30 minutes?
As for yesterday.

LOL. I just went and looked at the box and it was Billy Blanks. It was just a tape a friend lent me a while ago, which I popped on because it seemed to fit the space in my day. I did like him! :D

Well she lent me 2 tapes - "Advanced" and "8 minute". I was going to do the 8 minute because I didn't have much time. However, then I read at the beginning that you are supposed to progress to it through 3 other videos first. However, I didn't have the first two so I decided I would just give "Advanced" a go anyway. It was a nice change of pace and I didn't feel like I was hurting myself. My son did some karate a while ago and was nearby while I did it - he found me entertaining anyway - mostly because he understood the gap between my efforts and the genuine requirements even better than I did I think. :)

Oooooh, a tough girl !! Wanna fight ??
:p

LOL, ill get the jello started (sugar free of course).. Its been cold enough here that i can fill a pool and have it set up over night (okay kiddie pool sheesh).. The cats giving me the stink eye, I have to go cram a pill down his throat for the dirty look..
ohhh tae bo, back in the day when my blood sugar would get to high i would get on my teens dance, dance, revolution game for ps2.. I think i should do that, thanks for the reminder.. On DDR they have workout calorie burner mode and i loved it, but after a half an hour i was laying on my side panting and the kids would be scared.. Are u dying mommy, no moms just giving birth to an asthma attack.. I am going to do that, I am going to buy one for my daughter and force her to workout with me on it on the weekends because her ps2 is off limits to EVERYONE during the week and I do give her that respect because her siblings destroy everything...

Hey thanks for being a support system on my diary its been some hell on me to get off the ground and i need the support since my support around me is falling apart due to things that i cant control..

Randy - You always win. :)

Autumn - I appreciate you making the jello sugar free. :)

I love walking. It is the most relaxing, inspiring way to keep my exercise going - but sometimes other types of exercise are easier to fit in or meet a different need. I found it a bit daunting trying to think of what else I could manage at first but I'm starting to feel like I have an exercise smorgasbord to pick from now and I like the feeling! (Of course I still use portion control. :D) DDR sounds great! :)

Mmmm. If I start trying to chuck people around in that jello, it should help me try to build some guns. :D (Of course it might slow me down a bit if they fight back...)
