This is the time

Saturday
Breakfast 7:00 1 slice wholemeal toast with plum and cinnamon jam. 1 boiled egg. 2 weetbix, 1/3 C diced peaches , 1C low fat soy milk. Coffee with 15 ml Hilo milk.

Lunch 12:15 Toasted open sandwiches: 2 slices wholemeal bread 20gm fat hard cheese, 2 thin slices ham, tomato, mushroom and olives. Coffee with milk.

Snack 5:00 4 Vive crispbread. (In the car).

Dinner 8:00 My husband grilled me a big looking rump steak with a pepper cream sauce, microwaved potatoes, carrots, and fresh asparagus with a little low fat hard cheese. I was pretty hungry by then so I don't even know how much potato it was. I just ate it! I didn't eat all the sauce though. 4 fresh dates. Coffee with milk.

Exercise: No. I did other things. Again. I did find the stretches video. Which I totally need by now.

My day was exciting for me. I weigh 70.0 kg! I have lost another kilo. I haven't counted calories, but I suppose they are too low this week. I am not worrying just now because I know I will be around maintenance calories a lot on the holiday, so I think I should still be okay to lose again afterwards. How confident that sounds!! I hope it will be around maintenance! It will be hard to know without taking those shopping centre scales with me!

I just checked back in this diary to see when it was that the scales started to change. On that basis it seems I must have been weighing 72.5 last Saturday! I lost 2.5 kg in a week. 5 ½ pound. [edit: no, this is a mistake - should be 2.5 in 2 weeks - which is still the most I've lost in 2 weeks I think!! 1.5 in a week is very high for me still! :D ] I really haven't done anything much different to before. One day, when I have more time I will look into all the calories and things. Maybe it is just that sudden drop after a flat spot that I sometimes see other people talk about.

Also today I had the good news that my daughter did exceptionally well in one of her dance exams. I was only hoping for her not to be disappointed enough to cry. Instead it seems some of her dancing was nigh on perfect!!

And we went shopping. Usually I cannot find sandals which will fit my orthotics for under $200. Needless to say I wear the same pair everywhere. Today I found some $20 shoes that fit them. Needless to say I lay-byed every colour they had!! :D And I finally bought a bathers. A tankini top, boy leg bottoms. And then, when I saw the skin on my thighs  I bought some beach baggies to go over them!! Well the upside is that the hipster baggies were only a size 12, and I also bought some size 10 shorts. I decided it's time to give away the size 24's that I was only managing to keep on because of the drawstring!! :D

And I took my son's computer to the only man I thought could help. It was very inconvenient. However, at least he was able to help us immediately! And he did help me fix it. And he did teach me how to do it myself!! So now I can type on here and not worry about the boy. I might even have worked out how to salvage the other old computer I have in my back room. Not that I will be doing that for the next month though! :D

So here I am. Another Saturday done. Busy as ever, but with lots of pleasant busyness and satisfaction in it. :D

Thank you, Brandy!! :)

I had another look and I see I got the numbers wrong in yesterday's post. I checked something else today and realized that my loss for this fornight was 2.5 – which I already realized, but that it was 1 kilo last week and 1.5 this week – which is a bit better really than it all being in the past week. :) Interesting that I could make this mistake. When I first started losing weight it would have been impossible!! Just now I am happy about it, but most of my attention is on other things. It's nice to see that I can lose weight despite not being so focussed on it. I think this mistake also says something about my sense that time is speeding away from me just now!! :D

Sunday

Breakfast 9:00 1 slice wholemeal toast with plum and cinnamon jam. 1 boiled egg. 2 weetbix, 1/3 C diced peaches , 1C low fat soy milk. Coffee with 15 ml Hilo milk.

11:00 Coffee with milk.

Lunch 12:30 Toasted open sandwiches: 2 slices wholemeal bread 40gm fat hard cheese, 1 thin slice ham, tomato, mushroom, capsicum and olives. Coffee with milk.

Snack 5:00 2 Vive crispbread.

Dinner
7:00 Snapper. (~ 120 gm. We bought fish and chips. I took the fish out of the batter and weighed it. This was 2 medium sized, thin pieces.) A quick and special salad – ½ zucchini, 1 tomato, 1 mushroom, ½ small capsicum, 100 gm tin of 4 bean mix drained. Dressed with about ½ tspn sweet chilli sauce and a little lime juice. A very nice, quick, bulky way to convert the take-away into a decent meal for me. 4 fresh dates. 1 coffee with milk.

Exercise: 35 minutes walk at Warwick! I interrupted this a little with lots of stretches, and of course a little orchid browsing. I feel entitled to go for 40 tomorrow though. Yay!! And the walk was sooo relaxing too.

Still no photos. Worse than having to read the manual first, is having to read the manual first when it has been left out of the box!! I have the advanced manual but not the start up one. I tried a bit of educated guessing, but I have to format the memory card or something. Shops here aren't open on Sunday, so I will have to wait till tomorrow to follow this up.

Monday

Breakfast 9:00 1 slice wholemeal toast with plum and cinnamon jam. 1 boiled egg. 2 weetbix, 1/3 C diced peaches , 1C low fat soy milk. Coffee with 15 ml Hilo milk.

11:00 Pear. Coffee with milk.

Lunch 12:30 Toasted open sandwiches: 2 slices wholemeal bread 40gm fat hard cheese, 1 thin slice ham, tomato, zucchini, capsicum and olives. Coffee with milk.

Snack 4:00 2 Vive crispbread.

Dinner
7:00 ~ 30 gm grilled veal.
Big slice of wholemeal Vienna loaf.
Grilled eggplant, capsicum, tomato chopped up and mixed with microwaved carrots and broccoli. (Tasted quite tasty and satisfying).
9:00 100 gm tin of lite tuna with lemon and cracked pepper.

Weird dinner. I cooked for my husband and girl and ate some food thinking that I would eat more meat when I cooked for my son after I got him from work. Except he'd had some food there and just wanted salad. So I ate some tuna to get the protein. I am just flat out and constantly thinking about making everything organized, so I pretty much have no interest in my food right now. It's just a kind of habit to stop my stomach hurting. I like it when I eat it, but if I could swap eating for sleeping right now I absolutely would.

Exercise: Yesterday, I honestly thought I would walk today and walk further, and yet tonight I felt sure it would be better not to go for a walk at all. I'm just needing to take more account of the physical things I do that aren't "exercise" these days, because they're having more impact than I want.

Ah well. I'm sure this is all temporary. I am definitely getting more sleep tonight than last night!! I just remembered how short it was. No wonder I feel like I've been run over by a steam roller!! :D

After many phone calls today I found the camera manual had just been caught inside another book. The real problem seems to be that the extra memory card I bought isn't working properly. Another batch of worms to add to tomorrow's stew!!

Who would have thought being this privileged would generate so much whinging!!! Well, it will be over soon. I doubt I will be able to post much after Saturday, whether I feel like complaining or not!!

Thank you for listening. :D

Hey, I'm looking forward to the photos. Its funny about the camera manual. I don't know how many times I've done that and lost something in the silliest place.

Hi, Cannon. Well the booklet arrived in the box, jammed invisibly inside the other manual. It wouldn't have mattered as much if the memory card had worked, but it was faulty and it was hard to establish that at first, without being sure what the instructions were!! Finally the machine works. However, the saga continues...

I have tried to get a new photo. More difficult than you would guess!! However I'm pretty sure now that there's not much to see, even though I'm 10 kilos less than in my last photo. I think my face may have changed a little, my hips look a bit slimmer and that's about it. Hopefully I can get into some decent exercise next month when we get home again and do something about my tummy. Well I'm hoping that I can influence it anyway!! As of this moment I still don't have a useable photo. I have a bunch of video clips (how did my daughter manage those?), 4 stills shot from above by my son who has grown too tall, and which make my legs look twice as short as they are and my head look twice as big as it is, 1 with me looking at the ceiling and one with massive blur!! It is only the one of me looking at the ceiling which gave me the info I wanted about how I look compared to before!

I have updated my measurements. I didn't take them when I started losing weight. These measurements are for March 17 (~83 kg), May 15 (78 kg) and July 9 (74 kg). I have added tonight's, September 18. I weigh 70 kg. I have dropped 4 kg which is the same as the weight drop last time. However the loss in measurements is less than that time.

Left upper arm (9.5cm from inside elbow): 32.5 32 31.5 30.5
Bust: (not measured) 102.5 98.5 97
Waist (narrowest): 96 89 87 86
Waist (belly button): 105 96 93 93
Hips (13 cm from b/b line down side): 111.5 108 103 101
Hips (at leg band): 113.5 107 102.5 101
Left thigh (largest point): 67 61 59 58.5

The waist measurement – as for last time I tried the posture I'd use if someone said stand up straight, tummy in, hips tucked under. I also took one at sucked in as much as possible and tight as I can – last time this was 80 cm (31.5 in). This time it's 74 cm which is 29 inches. So that changed more than the other one? I suppose that's why I bothered to take it – because the other is so fickle and easy to change by the way I stand.

The A4 file with my travel documents in it - receipts, tickets, insurance etc. is 7/8 inch thick. This is not counting passports! The last time I went overseas I carried my passport and a few little flimsy slips of paper about 5” x3”. I swear. I bought a new shoulder bag to put the file in. I was thinking, everyone else must need one the same size as me. I will be inspecting shoulders at the airport to see what other people are carrying. But maybe all this is because of me doing this on the net. Maybe a travel agent still gives out the flimsies.... * Thinks fondly of flimsies * At any rate, it is nearly as full as it will get. Which is a VERY good thing!! :D

Tuesday

Breakfast 9:00 1 slice wholemeal toast with plum and cinnamon jam. 1 boiled egg. 2 weetbix, 1/3 C diced peaches , 1C low fat soy milk. Coffee with 15 ml Hilo milk.

11:00 Coffee with milk.

Lunch
12:30 Toasted open sandwiches: 2 slices wholemeal bread 40gm fat hard cheese, 1 thin slice ham. Tomato, mushroom, capsicum, eggplant (precooked with a little EVO oil), olives and zucchini. Coffee with milk.

Those open grilled sandwiches are VERY tall now!! I use 2 thin slices of zucchini on top, like another piece of bread so that I can hold them.

Snack 5:00 2 Vive crispbread.

Dinner 7:0 ~ 140 gm grilled lamb. Grilled mushrooms. Salad of butter beans, tomato, baby spinach, zucchini, yellow capsicum with a dressing of coriander (cilantro?), fresh lime and fresh chilli. 4 fresh dates. 1 coffee with milk.

Exercise
: 5:45 pm. 40 minutes walk at Warwick. Yay! Even better than last time! I actually had no pain at all the whole time! And I found 2 new Sun Orchids (not open of course, cos there was no sun :)).

Michelle!!!! Hello!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's so great to see you. I was about to say that I am looking forward to you posting in your own diary to catch up what you've been doing, when I realized that you might have started a new one!! And I see you have. I wonder why your old one doesn't work? I was just thinking about how long you'd been gone yesterday and starting to wonder if you had problems being able to get back to the net. Anyway, I'm so glad you're back on line. :hug2:

Feli, Your waist is 29 inches?? Did I read that right??? And you lost 1.5 pounds this week?? I'm a little behind I think or I missed something here. Please refresh me on your stats, I'm a little confused. If your waist is 29 inches, YOUR SKINNY girlfriend!! HAHAHA How many total "inches" have you lost off your waist since you started??
Kim

You read right Kim, but not the small print. :D

Just like my waist has shrunk, but not shrunk enough!! My waist is 29 inches if I suck it in as far as I can and pull the tape as tight as I can!! Like I used to years and years back when it was genuinely small. I started taking the measurement because it is hard to change. The more realistic measurement is easy to change by just holding my tummy a bit differently, so then it's hard to say how much it's changed from one month to the next. However when I did the super tight measurement as a teenager, there was no fat being compressed, and my muscles were pretty firm, so it was close to my normal waist size. Now those conditions have changed a lot!! So it is the waist measurement in with all the others that will give you the clue how skinny I look. The other one though, maybe does say something about how my fat has changed since last time.

I lost 1.5 kilos last week, which is 3 pounds.

yeah i reckon, i have the same problem when measuring.
I TRY to do it the same tension everytime but .. yeah.. lol
i generally go by clothes size :D

Ugh !! the 'suck in' !! that's a wicked game at this stage for me and one I can't pull off. The true 'measurement' is when I'm sitting down and if it fits, I buy it. I'll never buy anything again based on a tape reading. I can't hold an 8 year old making .36 cents an hour to know the difference between 38" and 40"

I didn't even do any measurements at all when I started, and I wish I had. However they are like scales I think, in that they give real information - much more than nothing - but just not very precise!! It's fine until you start wanting it to be more exact than it can handle. It's just that old thing I vaguely remember from high school, when they started talking about meaurements not being exact, always +/- some amount, which boggled my brain a bit at first, back then. (I have always had a tendency to the literal and the plus or minus idea wasn't one that had occurred to me). So too it boggles my brain a bit in the weight loss area, even now!

I have to try everything on too! As I'm still losing I try to buy what's a little too tight, hoping (so far successfully :D), that in a short time it will be a little too loose!

I had to come on just now, though I don't have the time! I am so excited and happy about the stretching tape I just did, I have to talk about it!! It's the one I said 2 weeks ago that I must hunt for, and about 1 week ago, that I did get now, and this week I kept thinking, well you should exercise first to get the most out of your stretches, and then exercised first and didn't get around to the tape, and finally today I put it on and followed it.

At first I was horrified to find that after all the leg stretching I've done lately and all the physio, my legs are still heaps tighter than they were last time I followed this tape. And then I was pleased that I can put them so much closer to everything than when I first did the tape, because they're so much thinner. But by the time I finished, I just had the same feeling I got the first time I did the tape, which was WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel sooooooooooooooo goooood!!!! And I'm thinking whatever made me think that I could skip stretching to focus on other aspects of my exercise and health. Maybe other people can but not me!!! I seriously can't imagine that I would have had all this long slow down with a succession of little injuries and pains if I had stuck with the stretching. I kind of agreed with her little spiel at the beginning of the stretches the first time I heard it, but I agreed with it 100% this time. It was just too easy to say I was too busy and skip or skimp on the stretching. However, without it I am never going to have the easy moving body I want, and also keep it moving easy!! Anyway... another deep breath. Time to go. I just had to share this!!! LOL :D :D

Hello!! It seems like you eat a lot of fish, do you?? If so, that's excellent fish is so good for you! I'm still sitting here scratching my head and trying to figure out the hole waist measurement thing. SO your NOT REALLY a 29inch? so what are you then?? LOL LOL LMAO I'm still thinking about this one and it's not working out for me, I'm so confused!! Enlighten me girlfriend, as I'm sure I'm not reading something right and I'm making something more confusing then it is. LMAO!!!

I hope this is a bit clearer Kim. I just realized I had never actually shown the conversion of the more realistic measurement of 86 cm, as being 34 inches, and maybe that's what made this so confusing.
... [Edited in green]

Left upper arm (9.5cm from inside elbow): 32.5 32 31.5 30.5
Bust: (not measured) 102.5 98.5 97
Waist (narrowest): 96 89 87 86 86 cm is 34 inches.
Waist (belly button): 105 96 93 93
Hips (13 cm from b/b line down side): 111.5 108 103 101
Hips (at leg band): 113.5 107 102.5 101
Left thigh (largest point): 67 61 59 58.5

The waist measurement – as for last time, I tried the posture I'd use if someone said stand up straight, tummy in, hips tucked under. [This one is 34 inches]. I also took one at sucked in as much as possible and tight as I can – last time this was 80 cm (31.5 in). This time it's 74 cm which is 29 inches. [So I can kind of squeeze down to 29 inches, but I don't really think this is too realistic as I can't actually breathe at the same time]. So that changed more than the other one? I suppose that's why I bothered to take it – because the other is so fickle and easy to change by the way I stand.

...

Just like my waist has shrunk, but not shrunk enough!! My waist is 29 inches if I suck it in as far as I can and pull the tape as tight as I can!! Like I used to years and years back when it was genuinely small. I started taking the measurement because it is hard to change. The more realistic measurement [34"]is easy to change by just holding my tummy a bit differently, so then it's hard to say how much it's changed from one month to the next. Now those conditions have changed a lot!! So it is the waist measurement in with all the others [ 34 inches], that will give you the clue how skinny I look[- not too skinny! LOL]. The other one though, maybe does say something about how my fat has changed since last time.

...

So what do I think my waist measurement is? Very roughly 34 inches and last time it was very roughly 34 inches. However, I suspect that last time I had it sucked in a bit more, and this time it wasn't sucked in as much. :D I think if I could have managed to stand exactly the same way, with it sucked in exactly to the same degree it would have gone down a little bit. The fact that there's such a big difference between the way it normally looks, and the size I can get it to sucked in, is why I think I need to do some work on my tummy muscles and tighten them up!! Like you have!! Only not until I get back from New Zealand, in about 3 1/2 weeks time (+ all the extra time it will take me to actually get myself organized again, because I'm always slow to actually make the changes I think of).

I guess I eat a fair amount of fish. I aim to eat fresh fish once a week and tinned fish at least once a week. I do also tend to eat it when I'm busy sometimes, or when I'm trying to keep my calories on the low side like I was this week. A tin of fish is like instant lean protein and a tin of beans is instant complex carbohydrates, so that makes it nice and easy sometimes. (I don't feed that to my whole family though! Even though I quite like the taste myself, with added veges of course, I try to put a bit more effort in on what they eat.)
