The Spoon, Puck and Me

Veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrry bad!!!! But I don't think what you did counts. It is best to spread your meals out, but if you eat a big meal and are still full, then the food is still going through your system and you are still processing it (probably getting nutrients and cals all the while) so your body isn't going to feel starved. The worst thing is to skip breakfast, because then your metabolism will drop, along with your blood sugar level and, for me, that is when I finally eat something and it opens the flood gates. So I think you did good ;)
Plus there was that guy that lost heaps of weight eating nothing but Subway sandwiches.

Don't be embarrassed, I like a lot of questionable music aswell. We are just open-minded :D . Mind you, I nearly didn't get that second one (who the hell is heminhem??? :D ). Got to go to bed now, can't wait for the alarm not to go off tomorrow

Shall do smallerbytheday, thanks!

Mrs Bear, I think only you'll understand this next bit. I felt hungry, so went out to get more cereal from the local Sainsburys-formly-known-as-Jacksons. Normally, that area just outside the shop is crowded with chavs, but it was empty on the way in; a rare treat! Even though I should have bought some more Special K or something sensible, I went for Kelloggs cornflakes. Do you know why? Because they were 2 for £2, so it worked out cheaper, and the boxes are bigger. Student = no money!

And when I got home, it turned out that I had enough for one last bowl of Crunchy Nut, so I didn't even need to leave the house. Stupidly late to be having tea, but at least it's not the masses I used to have on a friday night; chips, pizza, onion rings, chocolate, crisps (Kettle variety, and Walkers Sensations...) and that ol' vice alcohol. I haven't have an alcoholic beverage since 2005, and I don't fancy drinking again. I was never an alcoholic, but I'd have anywhere between 2 and 4 double vodka and cokes on a night out. The thought makes me feel ill now...

I'm incredibly sorry, I ramble far too much. Just to tally today's eats:

Breakfast: Special K
Snack: apple
Lunch: footlong Subway sandwich (tuna with "light" mayo, cheese and honey mustard)
Snack: apple
Tea: Crunchy Nut

Really, someone lost a load of weight through eating just Subway? I guess I can believe it if you chose the plainer options and have plenty of salad with it. Though I can see it becoming incredibly expensive incredible quick. Especially since the Sub Club Stamps are being made invoid.

Heehee, I did look back on the "coughemcoughincoughemcough" and wonder if you'd get that! Though for the sake of my reputation it would have been better if I'd wrapped both names in a code, wrapped in an enigma. There's variety, and then there's slipping a bit too much. I have my reasons though; I didn't even realise **** ***** did that song. I just liked it a lot, very sweet :) I like variety though, it's more exciting than saying "I love r&b, therefore I will only listen to r&b. Forever. For the rest of my life, even."

*yawns* I aught to head bedwards as well. For a start, there's a hungry guinea-pig up there who wants some salad. I always look so healthy when I buy guinea-pig food :D

Til tomorrow (probably)

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/03/02/48hours/main603484.shtml

This is the guy. I have read a couple of things about him, and they all say the only reason he was losing weight was because he was eating only 1000 calories a day ..... no ... never!!... . What did they expect, a magic weight loss ingredient in a sandwich!! :D I think the point subway were making, is that their food is fast food but it is a healthier option. And if he was eating a 6 inch sandwich for lunch and a 12 inch sandwich for dinner, and lots of salad and veg, I bet he was feeling nicely satisfied and not getting hungry.

Hey, you want to be careful banding about words like 'chavs', you'll confuse the americans :D . And well done on the alcohol ... its one of those things that can add a lot of calories without you even realising.

PS - buy one get one free on ice cream is my kryptonite - especially as I just can't seem to leave ice cream in the freezer overnight - it all goes

Edit: I have actually just read the article, and unlike the other medical journals poo-pooing it, this one says he was eating 2000 calories a day, not 1000. And it also says that he has kept it off for 5 years!!! That is the holy grail, losing weight is not nearly as difficult as keeping it off, take that from a girl who has lost around 25-30 lbs 3 times, and NEVER kept it off!!

Wow, that article is... well, a little strange to say the least! 2000 kcal is meant to be the daily allowence for women (though if i started eating extra Xs with my Ys I don't think I'd lose half my body weight) and I guess with Jarad's original intake being 10,000 kcals (erk!) any major step down will make him lose weight fast.

Just walked through the kitchen, and the scales my brother just used were left out. I was tempted to see if I was wrong yesterday, but then I remembered the FSD power :D And I knew I couldn't just step on then lie and say I hadn't, because if I'd dropped some weight, I'd need to change my ticker :p

Just had breakfast; cornflakes. Same kcals as the Special K, more fat though. Not as flavoursome, but at least I'm not picking out bits of red fruit blark in a morning. Either way, only two boxes to get through :D Then I'll need to start thinking about meal alternatives. I can't live off cereal forever. Well I can, but I'm not sure how fantastic an idea it may be. Mr Kelloggs recommends a fortnight, and I've already exceeded that. If I can keep on cereal for breakfast, then think of something else for tea, even if it's just a collection of fruit or something, then I can think about changing to a more realistic lifestyle in the long term.

Waitrose was mentioned in the BA thread. Dad and I are going there now :D *squee!* So I'll breeze around again, then go shoppink! Plus, with the whole family on a weight-loss vibe, I'm not going to be the only one wanting melon slices :)

A few points on the Subway situation---Subway really is only marginally healthier than other fast food. In my fat days I used to joke about a foot long steak (really grissle) and cheese as being diet food. I could do the same thing at any fast food restaurant. If I ate a McDonald's salad for lunch and a girlled chicken or quarter pounder for dinner and that was all I ate, I'd lose weight. What amazes me about Jarad is how boring he must be as a person. This is somebody who ate the same two sandwiches every day for over a year--Me I'd be throwing up by the end. Yet they have him endorsing how good their sandwiches are. I figure if he had any taste buds to begin with he killed them off by neglect anyway. As for keeping the weight off, I'm also not that impressed. His career has been as a weight loss spokesperson and he's made good money doing it--I think it'd be very easy to keep the weight off with that kind of incentive.

Cannon, I suppose it is that compulsive thing that makes a compulsive eater gain weight. So he just changed to eating Subways compulsively instead ... creature of habit I suppose. Maybe if he had tried to eat a varied diet, there would have been too much temptation and he wouldn't have lost the weight.

I know what you mean, Bronsk. I walked up the stairs yesterday after work and started taking all my clothes off, and thought .... right, I'll have a pee then get on the scales. Walked into the bedroom starkers and thought ... hmm ... where are the scales !!!! I'd put them in the cupboard. I honestly weigh without thinking sometimes. But you are right, it is much better to 'weight' until Friday (Did you like that one? :D ).

Bronski, just wanted to stop by and lend some support. Good for you for remembering FSD Power! :). I'm really going to try this week too to stay off the gosh darn scale! Hope the rest of your day is great!

Hey ava, thanks for the support :) And there is a power in the FSD, without it, I'd be weighing myself every few minutes just to see what was happening.

On the Subway man, I know what you mean Cannon. I've read through the Subway leaflets and nutrition guides and some of them aren't that great. For some reason, they recommend now having the tuna with light mayo during a diet :| Different. I try to keep Subway an occasional treat, and with BOGOFs and half price vouchers, I tend to make it as cheap a treat as possible.

It is a weird feeling, the urge to step on the scales. Especially since I was pretty reluctant to until I joined the FSD. I love the pun, Mrs B! Weight, hahahaha!

Well, shopping was fun, if harder without making stops at the usual chocolate, crisps and fun stuff aisles. But we've got so much fruit and salads it's untrue! Our fridge looks so pleasingly healthy :) And we got FOUR melons *gasp!* And a pineapple *gasp!* I think I was annoying my dad a bit though, every time he picked up something like cheese, or pasties, I'd talk him out of it. It's my fault we have have fruit in :D My plan is going to... plan!

So far, I've kept off the snacks (go me!) But one of the things we did get from Waitrose was sugar free jelly, so I've mixed up a batch. Though it doesn't install a lot of confidence in me with the slogan "Fruity, Wobbley, Crumbley"... :| Hmm... Either way, it's about 10 kcal a serving, so it's all good!

Lunch was pretty OK, though I overdid the fruit though; I had 2 clementines (2 = 1 portion of your five a day!) an apple, a slice of low fat cheese, a Chinese Chicken sandwich (grease alert!) and a strawberry and banana smoothie (small cup of.) Not too great, but it'll keep me going til tea, which will be (*da da-da-da DA*) cornflakes.

Off for a shower, stink of guinea-pig poo.

Later gang!

My thoughts exactly!

Today's been a bit lack-luster. I would liked to have exercised, and should have when the house was empty; I could have fitted in a good 200 skips before shower. No excuses; I messed up.

No matter, I can make up for the with sit-ups tonight before bed. Then tomorrow I'll go for said walk or (and there's a choice in the matter) I'll head to the pool. Will all depend on pool times and bus times, buses are a trial on Sundays.

OK, had tea (cornflakes) and seen my beloved one. He was worrying about general new-housey things and time management issues. And he got me worked up, and then with everything else that's happened recently, and other issues deeper in that, I am ready to eat all of that fruity, wobbley, crumbley jelly. And for the record, I've tried some, and it tasted nice, and certainly not crumbley!

Am clenching teeth together very tightly to stop any flow of jelly passing my lips. What I am going to do is find the other packet of jelly, and see if it says the same thing.

I don't like to double post, but this requires a new thing in itself.

I'm considering taking part in Camp America. I've felt very bored over the summer, and in need of something like this. However, it clashes with several things I was hoping to take part in. And reading this requirement has spooked me a little:

Be able to prove to the American Consulate that you have reason to return to your home country (e.g. student status or employment).

Soooooooo... if I wasn't a student, I could never leave? Ever? It's kind of bizarre that the American Consulate wants to hold people hostage, what if I'd just finished Uni and was no longer a student? Just... a person...

I ordered the info leaflet before I read that.

Off jelly.

Bronsk

My understanding of that is that you have to prove that you want to go back home, because otherwise they would suspect that you might be an illegal alien who might not go home.

'Off Jelly' - is that a statement or an order. Be gone foul, crumbly gelatinous fiend!!!! :D

I don't think the American Consulate wants to keep you hostage - they might just want to make sure that you have a reason, and will go back home.

Illegal immigration has been hitting the press here.

Ooops, I hit send before finishing my thought...

that being said, What is Camp America?

And you're doing great! Do you REALLY want that jelly?
;)
If so, have it, but COUNT it in the daily calories, or figure out how much walking or swimming you need to do to make it go far, far away - that or just chuck it and be done :D

Sorry, my internet screwed up and logged off twice in a row. I was posting, honest!

What was I saying...? I was very bad and gave into the jelly. It's sugar free, so only 15 kcals. It's at least one shade of guilt free. It wasn't out of any form of binge, I just felt a little peckish. Tea was earlier than normal and was slightly rushed. I'll be walking tomorrow; was going to do sit ups, but getting too late now.

For a foul, crumbly gelatinous fiend, it was pretty damn good Mrs B :p I'm afraid I'd have to recommend Hartley's Sugar Free Jelly to everyone here. Hate to say it, please forgive me, but it wasn't even crumbly :D

M2M, I'm sure the American Consulate just wants me for my greatness :D

By the way, Camp America is a camp... in America! It's a 9 week experience filled with archery, riding, climbing, canoeing and the like. Think Parent Trap, that's kind of the idea. It's for 6-16 year olds, and I'd be going as a counceller I believe they called it, though more like a group leader; someone to look up to.

Although it'd be amazing the following draw backs (apart from not being able to go home) are: I'd miss my Uni summer job, I'd be missing a camping trip with friend and, most urgently, I'd miss mine and my boyfriend's anniversery. That would be most uncool. So still debating, but it would be such an amazing experience to have if I could do it. Well, I could (travel's free) it's whether I chose to do it.

Well gang, me's knackered, me's heading bedwards.

Love and hugs to all!

Bronsk

Have you been to America before? It sounds like this camp would be good for exercise and outdoor experiences. I tried the Welch's grape sugar free jelly...I didn't like it too much. I think you can use family as your reason for returning to your home country and it is acceptable. Your doing great...don't worry about missing the skips today.

Hey Pineola! I've never been to America, but I'm planning a trip to meet some friends I made *ahem* online a few years back. That's not going to be 'til 2008.

Maybe if I said I missed Yorkshire puddings they'd let me back. And Angel Delight :D

On the jelly front, I'm not sure if I'm getting this the right way round, but the jelly I'm thinking about is what I've heard the Rugrats call "Jello". I think I've seen Welch's, it definitely rings a bell. That's what us stubborn Brits call jam. Personally, I'm not that big a fan of grape flavoured things. I like grape, and I like Schloer, but just grape juice I'm not a fan of. And the grape flavoured Jelly Bellies leave a lot to be desired.

Right, I've had a slightly bigger bowl of cereal than usual, as I'm going on my 6 1/2 mile walking route. So this is me just swinging by... kinda :D

Mrs Bear, I've finally found a working Dongle, and made it work, and here's a picture of Vincent:

Shouldn't be too big, it's only a camera-phone picture...

*hugs* to everyone!

ETA:

Damn, it's not as easy as that then. Well, the link works anyway. It's Vince saying hello :)

What a cutey!!! Did you manage to use the links I put in. If the first one didn't work I added another one that should. I tell you what, me and technology  !!

It is so confusing with the differences in our languages. Like their cookies are our biscuits, and their biscuits are our scones (I think?), and the whole 'chip' thing. No wonder wires get crossed!!!!! :D

6 1/2 mile walk ... that's a good slog, isn't it! That's why I use a bike, I get to sit on my butt!!! :D

Just finished the walk. Apparently it's a little more than six miles; I did an alternate route last time which wasn't as long. Either way, just finished it (in two hours; having difficulty believing that!) And am in dire need of a shower. And a drink. We got a load of new water from Lidl (Aurele) which tastes *gross*! It ain't Bron Water (yes, there is a source called Bron :D)

So me's off for a nice, long shower, then I'll make up a nice, tasty lunch. May snaffle some strawberries from the fridge *arf-arf!*

Mrs B, Buster is so cute! I'm going to register later so I can see the videos aswell. But the opening pic is so sweet :) Can't wait to see the rest!

The slight changes in languages are really confusing. When I was little, pants used to confuse me (I watched a lot of Rugrats) A character would say something like "I like your pants" but be refering to their trousers. Took a very long time to work that one out...

Their biscuits are our scones? Now that's confusing! And as a thought, if their fries are called fries, then what do they call *chip* chips? Like the fat fish-and-chip shop type chips? I may need a course on American-English before I do Camp America.

My ex form tutor from when I was in Year 7 (first year of high school) lived in a America for a while, and he convinced a small of group of Americans that the English alphabet was recieted backwards. I might carry that with me when I'm being a role model to the children :D Then I need to learn the alphabet backwards!

*hugs* to all! See you when I stop being smelly!
