Hi,
On a previous post you were talking about going to Curves and the staff chatting and interrupting your routine.
When I get a massage, I like quiet. What I do is I just tell the masseuse that I do "imaging" in my mind that helps me relax and let go of my worries,a and that I am usually quiet, and that my being quiet is normal. It is really difficult for me to ask for things I need but I am learning a little bit.
What I might do, (if I had the courage), is to talk with each staff member, before the work out, and just let her know about an "article" that I read, that talks about focusing on the work out and the increased calorie reduction when focusing intently. That I love chatting with them, but sometime get in a "groove" and focus on the work out and keep mentally focused. I'm sure they have been told that before.
Then, to keep things fun and comfortable, I would greet each person warmly on the way in and the way out each time.
I too don't like to be interrupted or chatted to when I work out. I used to wear my walkman in the gym, while at the gym, and to my car. I like to feel invisible.
Anyway,,,,it is easy for me to give advice, I hope you don't mind my telling how I might handle it.
Good luck! Keep up the good work.
