Welcome back Oaks. Great job on the marathon. I still have that one on my bucket list. Congrats on the upcoming marriage. Looks like you are going to have a great 2017!

That is kind of nerdy, but I'm not dismissing the idea. How much time do they take? And is freezer paper something you get next to wax paper?

Snack bags are a good shout my babe. Myfitnesspal is making me eat nothing that I can't scan using the barcode scanner thing. Becoming slightly obsessed with scanning everything. Scan scan scan.

P.S. Added you to weekend warrior on fitbitch x

Hi Cowboy! I'll do another marathon (probably the same one) eventually... It was tough but so rewarding.

LaMa it's weird how excited I am about those bags, haha. LJ they don't take long at all, maybe ten minutes to get a few done, and then the next ones fly by. Might be good for your kiddos, too. You can write on the bags (love notes, calorie counts, whatever floats your boat). And yep, freezer paper is near the wax paper. Let me know if you try it out!

Hana, I want an app that lets me take pictures and just knows (using magic, obviously) exactly how many calories it is. We can't be too far off from that technology, right?

Spent forty minutes just now talking to a co-worker about my wedding plans. There is so much to think about! Food and photographers and hotels and shuttles and a bartender. Oh my. What did I get myself into??

I know, I know, I brought this on myself LaMa! But eloping won't get my family together - my immediate family has only been all together once in the past ten years, so that's the thing I'm most excited about. We're actually using wedding planning as a tool in my therapy, to learn how to overcome fear and procrastination in planning and decision-making. Fun stuff right there.

Words of advice on planning:
  • Tell your guests you care about them by having an open bar
  • Focus on making it fun - we did, and we didn't care so much about the little things that weren't right.
  • Don't care too much about things that go wrong, they will, and no one but you will care.
  • Your fiancé's opinions matter, including when he says "I don't care".
  • Did I mention the open bar?
  • Make sure you have a good, party-ready DJ or band. I used to be anti-band, but went to a wedding in Mystic CT that was fantastic (I can look up the name if you're planning on Massachusetts). A good, party DJ/band will read the crowd and adjust accordingly.
  • Don't spend half your money on flowers - spoiler alert, they're going to die.
  • Can't go wrong with an open bar. More booze = more dancing.

We are definitely going open bar, LJ! The place is a small DIY-type venue and we won't be having a band because we're going to have to move tables out of the way as people leave just to make room for any potential dancing. Ain't no room for a band! And I totally agree on the flowers. I was very much considering funny lawn ornaments as centerpieces until I realized a centerpiece should look good from all sides. Now it'll probably be pumpkins.

I forget if I mentioned but we're going casual. No suits worn by anyone, BBQ buffet for dinner. Lawn games if the weather is nice. My MIL keeps asking what the moms will be wearing and I'm like "probably pants."

Your wedding sounds like it will be lots of fun. LJ's advice is good. Very good! It's your day & should be enjoyed :)
(PS We eloped.)

LJ I'm going to let you take partial credit for the fact that I'm not eating candy right now. I was killing time at the pharmacy and eye intercoursed the poop out of the treats as I was standing in line to pay. I walked away with some soft head wraps that I will likely never wear but as far as I can tell there's no calorie counts on those even if I do.

As much as I don't want to admit it, Cate, I do like being the center attention for short bursts of time! I had someone ask me not too long ago if I was secretly married, though. They just assumed that's how I would go about it, haha.

:D That is exactly why the idea of a "real" wedding makes me break into a cold sweat - and I'm not even in a relationship. Glad you're looking forward to it, even in secret, and well done on limiting the candy intercourse to a peep show.

Your wedding will be awesome :D Pumpkins sound great! We spent loads on flowers and then we had to give them all away as we had no idea what to do with them afterwards. We had a picnic instead of a three course meal and it was gorgeous :D

It's Friday afternoon so I figure I should check in with my goals. It's been 5 days since I started logging my after-dinner alone time activities, and I successfully kept my sneaky eating at bay. I've still been enjoying a treat each evening, though. I'll worry about changing that habit at another time.

S: don't recall
M: Cheez-its
T: Glass of amaretto
W: S'mores flavored pretzels* (est 350 cals)
R: S'mores flavored pretzels (est 350 cals) + 1 hard cider with dinner

As far as exercise goes, I did Cross Fit twice and ran 1.5 miles, so I've got a weekend run to complete. I'd also like to make a little time for jump roping. Three day weekend for me!

*I have an obsession with buying anything s'mores flavored that I spot in the store. So far nothing has been worth a repeat purchase, but the obsession continues.

Well, my eating yesterday (Saturday) was a little heavy but nothing crazy for most of the day. G was heading up for a shower after dinner and I decided I'd throw on a TV show and go for a walk on the treadmill, in the basement. About 20 minutes later it suddenly sounds like it's raining indoors and I discover the pipes are leaking. I run upstairs and see that the kitchen sink is clogged and the entire room is flooded. That's what I get for being healthy! We did some clean up, made a trip to Home Depot, tried unsuccessfully for hours to unclog the pipes, and I ended up shoving my hand repeatedly into a box of Cheez-Its at 2:30 in the morning in tired frustration. It's 2 pm on Sunday now and we've got a plumber here as I type. Hopefully we get this taken care of soon!
