Bust out the coloring book and tell your shins that I said to knock it off.

I relayed the message, Q, I'll let you know if they behave! I'm feeling loads better today. Still working on the physical part but mentally I'm mostly back to normal. So.... partially crazy and definitely weird, but that stuff I can handle

Well, I managed 11 miles on the treadmill Guess those shins listened to you, Q! They didn't hurt at all, the knees definitely felt angry towards the end but I can't really blame them. I did take short walk breaks every mile or so starting at mile 5. I really wish I could have gone outside but G told me no. Something about yesterday's wet, heavy snow and the well-below freezing temperatures..... Someone has to be the voice of reason, I guess.

Tomorrow is the Superbowl. We are not going to any parties, so that's not a temptation day for me. However, we are going to a craft beer festival tonight, which will be just as bad. I'm pretty excited, though.

I've been sick for days but I think I'm officially on the mend! I'm still congested but my head doesn't feel like it's going to explode. Overdid it a little on Saturday with running and being out and about (32,590 steps that day!).... and I paid for it on Sunday. Officially lost my sense of taste yesterday, so I'm sad about that. Hopefully I get it back quick, although eating purely for fuel isn't a bad thing. Haven't exercised since my long run, I'm going to hit up the elliptical tonight because I feel a little pain in my shin that I definitely haven't been taking care of lately.

Fell Better Soon! :grouphug:

Stay warm!

We haven't even had a winter at all!!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Man, the bugs and insects are gonna be sooooooo bad this summer...

We're expecting lows in the negatives and 20 mph winds this weekend, Stacy, but our winter is short and easy this year for sure.

Cowboy and LaMa, I'm feeling better each day!

I've been having a little trouble getting tired at night lately and have subsequently fallen back into a bad pattern of late night snacking. Yesterday's 90 calorie sweet treat was then followed by 200 calories worth of chocolate chip granola bars and a few hundred calories worth of cheez-its after G went to bed. Must fight this.

I can't be critical of late night snacks, that's for sure, Oaks, I understand the short-term appeal. At one point, I started brushing my teeth after dinner, that way I wouldn't want to sneak snacks in the interest of avoiding brushing again. Laziness is usually a bad thing, but why not use it to help you when it can?

That's my problem, too. Eating late. I find that if I just stop eating completely after dinner then my appetite doesn't stand a chance to open up again.

We missed you, LJ! I will shyly admit that I do not brush my teeth at night. I know, I know, that's awful, but I haven't had a cavity since I was a child and the G-dawg still lets me kiss him now and then.... What else do I need in life? So perhaps I should heed your advice for multiple reasons!!

Hi Allicat!!! I'm the same way, it's either all of the snacks or none of the snacks. Sometimes I have better luck if I'm eating to satisfy a true craving, but if I'm doing inventory of the pantry to decide what looks good I should know by now that means it's not real hunger that sent me to the kitchen.

Jen, that ugly snack monster, what are we going to do with him? Actually, let's face it, the monster is probably a girl. I think the one that visits me is, anyway. Telling me to eat any and all of the sweets I can find.

For those following my marathon/shin splint journey, I have a picture of what I got in the mail yesterday. I opened it up and immediately cried. Partially because holy ish this could be awesome and partially because holy ish I haven't been able to run more than once a week lately. But mostly the former.

Oh Oaks, that is very exciting! GO YOU!!! Hope you're feeling a little bit better this morning xo

Quick update since I haven't posted in a few days!

1) Long run today, 12 miles in 2:39. Temp was 16, couldn't keep my heart rate down, walked a ton, but covered my miles.
2) Cut off at least 6 inches of my hair on Friday. I hate it. Luckily my hair grows fast.
3) Watched a video yesterday of Jacques Pepin de-boning a chicken and it blew my mind.
4) I'm eating way too much cheese these days.
5) Despite not leaving the house on Valentine's Day we kept up a level of good-busy around the house and I didn't get bored.
6) Got my gait analysis on Saturday and was told my current shoes are perfect for me and there's nothing to change about how I run.
6b) I bought new shoes anyway because it's hard to resist when you're standing in front of a wall full of color.

That's all I have for right now!
