Happy Thanksgiving to all my Thanksgiving celebrating friends! I'm popping in quickly to formally announce that I'll be joining Q for the Runner's World Run Streak.

That's 36 straight days of running. Whoa.

Day 1 [11/27]:
1.75 miles on the treadmill. The temp was fine for an outdoor run, but yesterday's snow left the sidewalks dangerous. I would have skipped today for sure had it not been for the RWRunStreak. It felt good to run, and the gym was packed.

Run Streak Day 2 [11/28]:
3.5 miles outside. Temp was 31. Most of the sidewalks were clear (it snowed a little overnight but not much). First mile felt good, but then I tortured myself with a hill. Tomorrow will be an easier run.

Alright, yesterday was Thanksgiving. I drank and ate to my little heart's content. We took home one full plate of dinner leftovers, and I brought home a small plate of desserts for me. One piece of pie and some trifle. Just my absolute faves. Here's the most annoying part about this year's holiday - the boyfriend requested that I make a ricotta pie. Oaks has never made a ricotta pie. So since this was for a family gathering I made an extra just so we could try it before bringing it over. I asked Google if I could freeze it. Some sites say yes, some say no. I'm going to give it a shot anyway. Worst case scenario I freeze it and it is gross later and I throw it away without feeling too guilty. I'm kind of hoping that's what happens!

Nice run! I just did the minimum mile today, but I'll do more tomorrow. I've never had trifle or ricotta pie, but I looked them up and they both look great.

Have fun making food for other people ;) I couldn´t even be bothered to do so fo me if I could get someone else to do it for me, but the advantage of cooking for others is that the calories are spread around.

LaMa, I love baking! I can't be bothered to make dinners, I'd live on tuna sandwiches and frozen chicken tenders if I didn't have someone to cook for me. But cookies, graham crackers, muffins, granola bars...that's my jam. I've started wrapping up treats in little single serve packages and passing them out to the girls at work. My cube neighbor now asks me on Mondays if I baked anything over the weekend! It's definitely an easy way to spread out those calories.

Run Streak Day 3 [11/29]:
1 mile outside. Temp was 33. My tummy didn't feel so hot, but I thought it would be fine for one mile. I was wrong. Also, I didn't plan well and ended up on a long stretch of icy sidewalk that I should have expected.

:( Sounds crummy indeed. About the cooking/baking: I love watching cooking shows, absolutely love it, but repeating stuff for myself (or even worse: others)? Nah. Everyone´s always talking about how much they love cooking but I can´t seem to catch the bug no matter how often I do it or how much I love the food I do cook. Weirdlings...

Wow, I can't believe you have so much motivation to go running. Must learn from you. If it were that cold where I live I would be hibernating all day long, probably be unhealthy too as I literally wouldn't go anywhere!

The stomach issues were short-lived, thankfully! My body doesn't react well to all the delicious things my taste buds enjoy.... I believe it was the sugary treats that did me in. Yesterday was a much more normal eating day, so my body is happy.

Run Streak Day 4 [11/30]:
5 slow miles outside. Temp was 53, which was quite a pleasant change from yesterday. Total time was 59:29, and I managed to run all the way up the hill I consider my challenge hill. I slowed down a lot, but I didn't stop!

Thanks Cate and LaMa! LJ, the pie was pretty bland. The family said it was good, but they all knew if was my first try so they could have been lying. We should have made some sort of caramel sauce or something to put on top. Oh, well. We haven't touched the one we made for ourselves since before Thanksgiving so it will likely get tossed.

Alright, as great as it was to have five days off from work, I'm looking forward to getting back into the normal routine. The last two days have been pretty solid, though. I split a bottle of wine with Mr Oaks both nights, and last night I had a splash of amaretto in a glass of pumpkin spice coconut milk, but that's it alcohol-wise. I tend to drink a bit during the day on the weekends but made a conscious effort to avoid that. After dinner snacks consisted of roughly 250 calories worth of shrimp chips on Saturday, and a 170 calorie snack box yesterday.

And before anyone asks, shrimp chips are, in fact, shrimp flavored chips.
