Oh, almost forgot.

Run Streak Day 5 [12/1]:
1:25 miles outside. Temp was 51 even at 6:30 am. Nothing exciting to report.

Seeing all these lovely messages from you fabulous people is what's making the running easier! Thanks for all the motivation :)

Run Streak Day 6 [12/2]:
3 miles outside. Temp was 33. It was hard to get out of bed. But knowing that my other option would be to run after work in the dark or on the treadmill, that's what got me moving.

My eating yesterday was so perfect during the day. Smoothie, banana, salmon, wheatberry salad, almonds.... And then I got home and ate the biggest plate of pad thai imaginable. And we eat dinner at the coffee table, so I immediately sprawled out on the couch and groaned for a few minutes before I was willing to get up. But it was soooo good, G cooked the shrimp perfectly and there was just the right amount of spice and bean sprouts....It hit the spot. Maybe next time I use a smaller plate.

Rice noodles are good run fuel. It was in the 30's here too, but yesterday was humid and mid 60's so it really felt cold today. Great job! You're racking up the miles!

I had to tame myself on the leftovers today...It was tough. Those rice noodles are delicious! I had never had pad thai before last year, with the exception of a time many years ago when someone ordered it for me. I couldn't decide what I wanted, so they picked pad thai because it's typically a safe bet. They did NOT warn me it was going to come covered in peanuts. Gross. The G-man keeps his peanuts on the side when he's cooking for me.

Side note - I got sick of typing the word 'boyfriend' all the time. So I may begin to refer to him as G, G-man, Mr. Oaks, my personal chef, or Miss Daisy if I'm annoyed that he's making me drive him around to do our errands.

How about Biff Plankchest? Dirk Muscleman? Brock Tricep? Those are names I often demand my wife call me. She usually rolls her eyes, but I think it's because she's embarassed she didn't think of those names herself. I like the name Miss Daisy, I sometimes mutter a Freeman-esque "Yes, Miss Daisy" when I have a backseat driver who's bugging me.

If you're cutting out the peanuts, I think that you probably didn't do too bad.

G must be a lucky letter to have snagged such fine specimens as you and I, Cate ;)

Random discovery of the day: my office apparently stocks two kinds of almonds, a 100 calorie bag of natural* and a 160 calorie bag of roasted and salted. I didn't know this until I went for a bag today after yesterday's tasted so darn delicious. Turns out I was excited for the natural ones! I love discovering foods that I actually prefer untouched.

*I originally wrote "raw" instead of natural but apparently all US-grown almonds are processed in some way, so I don't want to use that term.

I'm a J and I have an E.

It's not pad Thai without the peanuts. Pad Thai literally translates to "with peanuts"*.

*Complete lie. It actually means Thai stir fry.**

**Asterisks are fun!

I hope you have/had a good run today!

I was inspired to use the asterisk by Biff Plankchest. It IS fun.

Couldn't drag myself out of bed for a run in the rain this morning. But I'll be doing a mile after work regardless of the weather.

Run Streak Day 7 [12/3]:
1 mile outside, in 10:19. Temp was 50 but it was dark and rainy. I decided I'd dress for a colder run, thinking I wouldn't warm up, so of course I was ridiculously hot. Also, I wear glasses most days but put in disposable contacts if I have reason to.... But a one mile run after work wasn't a good enough reason. That decision resulted in me running blind because I fogged up my glasses pretty quick. I'm calling this run a learning experience!

My appetite these past few days has been out of control! Maybe it's because of all the running. If I'm doing well with snacks I go overboard at dinner. If I eat one snack during the day I have trouble refraining from that point on. There's a cup of cucumbers, tomatoes, and wheatberries with my name on it sitting in the fridge at work, but I chose both chocolates and some sort of chocolate mousse cake instead. Eeek! Gotta calm it down.

Also, my trigger point for sneaky snacking just occurred (shower time for the G-ster) and I found myself rummaging through the pantry and fridge. I settled on a dried banana. Coulda been worse for sure, but it was that urge that was troublesome.

I still get in a sweet during lunch - If I'm smart I get a Hershey's Special Dark at 190 calories. I keep a BJs box of them in my trunk, so I need to remember to grab one. If I'm dumb I get a cookie from the cafeteria - according to LoseIt, the calories on a 4" chocolate chip cookie is 190, but I'm thinking it's probably double that for these puppies.

I think I'm a sneaky snacker, too. J-Dawg was at the library and the kids were in bed, and god forbid I just have a big glass of water, or even a small glass of milk while I watch TV or read a book. No stress involved, not even boredom, just the thought that no-one's looking hee-hee-hee-hee.

I have a co-worker who keeps a candy jar, so I get to steal chocolates from her when I need them. How she avoids eating them all day, I don't know, but I'm glad they are there for me when the chocolate cravings really hit! I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets the urge to eat when everyone's gone.... I've been doing that since I was a kid. My mother tried hard to make sure I know it was perfectly acceptable to eat ice cream sundaes with sprinkles and magic shell before everyone else in the house went to sleep. But it didn't change much.

I made a conscious decision to tell E-Money everything I eat while she isn't there. That really helped reign in the sneaky snacking. I didn't tell her my plans so at one point she just asked why I kept telling her. I even tell her if I eat outside of my diet when we are on the road. Bonus points if you do it peri-shower.

Oaks: *Loudly bangs on door
G-slice: (startled) What!?
Oaks: I'm eating a dried banana!
G-diddy: WHAT!?

Also that run sounds awful and dangerous. Our weather has been surprisingly similar except for snow. This morning was warm enough for no breathing protection and single layers. It was nice. I think about 55 and fairly humid. It's supposed to start raining and possibly storming tomorrow though. It may be time for a gym run.
