The long and winding road hurts my fat feet

Ow that smarts. Nail guns frighten me for that very reasy. I'm so clumsy I could do that very easily and repeatedly.

Yeah, Nail guns are a little unsettling for me now too.

Ok gang, My leg is a lot better. I can walk pretty much without a limp now, but its painful after a few steps. I will be better by the end of the weekend.

Anyway, it really blows because this forces me to take a rest week. I probably was due for one, but its ruining some good momentum. Well, the local college rec center opens back up on Tuesday, so that will get me going again. I want to do something, but I have the leg thing, and then my arm is not 100% because of the tetanus shot. I dont want to chance lifting weights as to do further damage to my arms. Argh. I am feeling super fat and gross right now. I guess its kind of a good thing that I miss working out like I do.

holy moly thats gotta hurt.

You can still do upper body workouts though cant you?

Get some arm chair cardio going lol

Hey- the leg is back to being nearly 100% at least for daily usage. I think I am going to hold off the workouts for another few days. I start going to the gym again monday. I am excited about that. I have been working out at home, and miss the interaction part abotu the gym. It gets you pumped up.

Ok, I didn't overdo the cheering.

Ok, here is where I am. My gym membership just renewed, and realizing I pay money for that place has driven me to use it. My leg is 99% there. I jogged a mile on it last night. It was a slower pace, but mostly because I jogged after pretty vigorus weight training. I had been using my bowflex, which is a good workout, but the change of pace/ professional equipment has me really sore today. Its a good thing.

I have been using sparkpeople a lot. Its a really good little resource. The forums over there suck, becasue there are 1.5 billion people on them, and you never really get to know anyone, so that is why ths place rocks.

Anyway I am working hard at getting a road bike. I don't want to use my wife and I's money for it, so I am selling all my old bachlor toys. So far I am up to about $700. A couple hundred more and I have my bike. Then its only a matter of getting in shape to do a Tri. I am working on that too. I am going to get really agressive with my weightloss for a season here. I want to drop 50 big ones by 07. 17 weeks, so that means about what? 3 and a half pounds a week. I think it is do able, because I have a ton of water weight in my body right now. I think I am heavy enough too that 3.5 a week is ok short term like that. Anyway, thats that.

Hello FGT,
Good news about your leg being well on the mend! It's almost there. Selling off your bachlor toys to finance a road bike sounds rewarding! Investing your hard work towards a TRI, is fantastic too. Wanting to drop 50 by '07! WOWZERS..... Take it one day at a time and before you know it '07 will be here! Wishing you a good one!

So good to hear from you!! A tri, huh, you are incredible!!! I'm not that gutsy yet...my asthma bugs me if I try to run, but I keep trying. Have a great day!

great job man, you are really determined, selling the toys for a bike is admirable, sometimes they are hard to part with! good luck with the Tri you can do it.....believe and acheive brother!!!!!!!

I got the bike last night. The thing is going to pay itself off in gas money. I love it.

I sold a couple of guitars, baseball memorabilia, a digital recording studio...might get rid of my xbox 360....its so anti- the person I want to be. I mean laying around watching people be active on a TV....not cool.

So, I got my bike, and have ridden it about a hundred miles in the last 5 days. I love it. Seriously I am depressed that winter is coming, because I want to ride all the time. Today it is rainy and about 50 outside. Thats 7 centigrade. I don't really know if thats is right. I actually just made that up. Ok the point is its cold.

My plan is to run to the post office and ship some junk tonight, and then go to the gym, and I think my leg is healed up enough finally to swim. I am hesitant to swim though, because gym pools are full of urine and snot. Good chance that it could infect my leg...however they are also full of chlorine and bleach, so that would kill the bacteria. So I am going to swim a little. Heres the thing though, last night, at about 3 in the morning...(last night, at 3 in the morning....how does that work?) my leg had a really bad shooting pain in it. Bad enough to wake me up. Its fine today, but I think I may have gone a little overboard with with the biking.

My body is looking tighter everyday, which is way more encouraging than seeing numbers on a scale...at least for me. My diet is ok. I was bad during the ND game, but other than that I have been pretty steady.

See you need to adapt the Army system. Everytime Notre Dame scores, do a situp for every point--you would have got quite a work out Saturday. Way to go ND!

Ok, Tri training post nailgate has commenced. Monday, I ran 3 and a half miles. Last night I swam, and boy do I suck. As a result of 1. The awesome excercise and 2. My need for improvement, I have decided to swim 3 times a week this fall/winter. Its low impact too, so if gives my joints a break. I will do general cardio 2 times weekly, ie machines, and jog once a week. More later.

WOW! This diary is full of motivation! I feel pumped after reading just your last few entries! Selling the XBox...that's a super impressive move. Sounds like that bike is an awesome investment.

I really like Spark People too. I've been a member for a while, but never took advantage of the resources there, I just enjoyed the e-newsletters. I'm starting to get more oriented over there and plan to use it more wisely. I haven't joined in on the discussion forums...maybe one day.

Have a great Wednesday! :)

Well, When I swam last time, it was a day after they added some chemicals to the pool, and basically right now, 2 days after the fact, I have a burning, itchy rash all over my ears and cheeks. Sucks. I took Luke, my 2 year old son to the gym and we played basketball. He had a blast, and it gave mom some alone time. Wasnt much of a workout for me though. Oh well. I found my tri for next summer. One in May, one in June, one July, and an August. I am super pumped. I think other than swimming I could complete them right now.
