Lollipopkid!!!

I restarted my journey on January 1st, 2007. Yup, another New Years resolutioner :p . I am not entirely new to the diet world though. I started when one day about 2 years ago when I stepped on the scale to watch it tipping 300lbs and I started my very first fad diet:

The Subway Diet: I went on this diet first and some pretty good results. Within a few months I was down about 35lbs and I after I dropped the plan I gained 10lbs back brining me down to 275.

Atkins Diet: Everyone was doing it, so why not me? It was about 3 months after I got off the Subway diet; I lost about 15lbs in a month and put it all back on. The problem with the Atkins plan is its just not realistic. One day you are no longer going to be on the diet and you are going to go back to carbs, since Atkins fails to teach you about lifestyle changes, it fails as a true diet.

Weight Watchers: This one worked very well for me as far as permanently losing the weight I lost. I January 2006 and I was doing the flex plan, however, I was not a meeting attendee, I just ninja’d the plan from people who were members. I lost 25lb in about 6 months and I gained only 5lbs back before I started my journey again last month.

What I am doing now is a life style change! No plans, no gimmicks… I’m in it for the long run; that being the rest of my life. I know that my body just doesn’t do pizza or burgers and that if I want to be a healthy weight I need to live a healthy lifestyle. I have a huge family history of diabetes and heart disease. That doesn’t have to be me.

I am slowly adding physical activity into my routine, perhaps slower than I should, but this way I can make a realistic introduction without just burning me out. I already find it hard not to go for my daily 3 mile walk… soon I will be incorporating a 3day cardio and 3 day strength routine into my day.

Since I restarted in January I have lost about 14lbs

I would LOVE to get my protein up a little bit but I don’t want to take in any more carbs and I am really not a meat eater.

Sounds like your off to a great start! Congratulations on the 14lbs! I love skinny cow too :) I'm a ice cream freak! Except I use to eat the whole ben & jerrys! So every once in awhile I want some!

im glad to see that youve realised that lifestyle change is whats needed - in the end it sobvious because you want to keep it for life..not just the length of the diet or plan you are doing.
congratulations on the weight lost so far - thats a lot! well done :) hope to see you around here more - we are always here to offer help and support

what about tofu?

Shiritake noodles, which are made from yams - could give you a pasta fix - super low in calories, and i think it's 2 grams of carbs a serving - I prefer them with a really strong flavored asian themed sauce but i know peoeple who've done them alfredo-esque or wtha tomato based sauce.

eggs -- especially egg whites would give you protein too..

hey lollipo :) welcome and congratulations for 14 lbs. you're on a great path. i get my protein from eggs and fish if i want to skip milk. as for carbs i do heavy ones (i call them like that - pasta, rice -all brown) 3-4 times a week, the rest i have veggies.
congratulations for making a decision to change your life :) Lena

Lazy day :*( more so than I like to admit... Just to get some activity in I am going to the local Meijer's (like walmart, but bigger and better).

I have been looking into buying a MP3... at first I was thinking the IPod, but that doesnt have alot of features I was looking for; with the price they want I need more. Then I looked into XMradio and Sirius satelite radio, they were both looking great, but my biggest problem is they want a fortune for the radios and then they still charge a monthly price; most companys that have subscriptions GIVE AWAY they products. Then I discovered the Zune... wow! Everything I wanted; Huge storage (30gb), FMradio tuner, bigger screen then the Ipod and cheaper to boot. Not to forget the social aspect that you can sync wirelessly with other Zune users and share music... the call that 'the social'. Anyone thats in a 30ft radius or so will come up as a tag on your Zune and you can search there shared items. Perhaps the best thing of all, at least for me as I am not a music collector, is the Zune membership plan allows you unlimited downloads of almost any music you can imagine. The down side is the Zune is very new, but considering its Microsofts baby and Apples worst enemy it certainly will get all sorts of attention. And the Zune is completly upgrade/date-able... no need to buy a new zune every 6months. There is also a rumor that XMradio is working on a deal to add subscription service to the zune in a download.

No matter what I pick, its a major investment... but after some work I managed to get a Zune with a protective case/armband/beltclip, high quality ear piece, and a screen protector for ~$260... the Ipod similar without the case, ear pieces, and screen protector would be $249, and the Satelite radios were around $250. I plan to purchase tomorrow.

Well... thats about it for me :D good day

Oooh, that sounds like a great purchase! I use my cellphone for an MP3 player right now, but it's not really that hot because I can only load like 20 songs in at a time even though I bought a 265MB memory expansion. I can load all the songs I want, but only the first 20 are recognized :( But still, it's rather helpful in making the time pass when I'm on the bus or not at the gym (I got to Gold's which has TV's on their cardio machines).

Congrats on the 14 so far, and here's to the other 85 you're aiming for!

I stepped on the scale and saw the pretty 240.0 ... i had to step on 3 times just to make sure it wasnt a mis-read :p 239 here I come!!!

I did stick to my diet very well today, Im pretty much to the point now where i have very little craving and mostly eat to fill the nutritional need to eat.

I also purchased the Biggest Loser volume I and II workout videos off amazon... i look forward to starting.

What kind of math are you in? I took Calculus my first year of college and I swear, I studied 15 hrs a week for that class, I'm not kidding either. UGH I hate math!

Woot 238.4!!!

I could hardly believe what I saw!!!! I played with scale, moved it, leveled it... but every reading said the same wonderful thing!!! I think I told every single person I saw today :p . I have not weighed in at this wait in as long as I can remember... at least my freshman year of high school! 229 here I come!!

On a side note... i was slightly naughty today... I had 2 cups of cream of broccoli soup at work and some bread... I took it as a meal though... and I know that I did not exceed my caloric needs for the day... but I also know that today was not very balanced due to the adjustments... oh yeah... and I had a Coke Zero... I felt so guilty :( .

Thanks for the support everyone!!! You are why I know I will get to 155!!!!!!
