Tyler here :) Enjoy the new diary. I am saying right now I won' be weighing in till a month has gone by but I don't know if I can wait that long LOL. I hope to update regularly for yall.



-- How much weight do you want to lose? 75 pounds

-- What is the time frame for reaching your target weight? No timeline...when I reach the goal...I reach it.

-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)? No fast food, Sugars, Sweets, cokes, smaller portions, boxing and strength training. The usual stuff.

-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal? No one can help me but everyone can support me. Only a few people in my family know I am doing this and NO one knows my dad is going to stop smoking while I do this. It's really win win

-- How realistic is your goal? Big picture type of stuff 75 lbs is just half of what I really need to lose. 75 pounds is very realistic goal.

-- When will you start? Started 7 days ago on, June 26, 2011

-- What is your current height and weight? 6 feet 3 inches / 375 pounds

-- If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be? 250 pounds

-- At what weight would you like to be at four months from now? 300-325

-- Why do you want to lose weight? I am going on a cruise in December and I was told I was not allowed to Zip-Line because was to heavy. That happened 8 days ago. That for some off reason...was my turning moment.

-- What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals? Veggies....that is the biggest thing from losing my weight fast....and slow lol.

-- What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight? Keeping my self busy. Cook at home and just taking it meal by meal with making proper food choices.

-- Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back? I would half ass the diet and be 100% hard on the workout. A 12 pack of nuggets here and small burger there. Never giving up Cheetos...never half ass it.


-- Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook? Chicken, Rice, Varies lean meats I keep it EXTREMELY simple and plain.

-- How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go? I go out for lunch everyday and I go to subway and get a 6 inch sub with baked chips and a bottled water. I haven't had a single piece of junk food in the past 8 days.

-- What are your three favorite foods? Hot Cheetos, Chick-Fil-A, Pickles haha

-- What are your three favorite restaurants? Texas Roadhouse, Chick-Fil-A, Local Bar and Grill.


-- Do you eat when you are not hungry? I used to..now I can't

-- Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)? I used to..not anymore

-- Do you hide your food or eat in secret? No

-- Do you eat when you are sad, nervous, or depressed? Yup

-- Do you eat as a reward? HELL YES

-- Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer? Another HELL YES

-- What do you normally eat for a meal? It was Chick-Fil-a everyday, the meal would cost me like 12 bucks...SO MUCH FOOD.

-- What type of snacks do you eat? Kashi Bars, apples, peaches, peanut butter, wholegrain cereal, grapes, varies fruits, etc.

-- In terms of exercise, what, if anything, are you currently doing? Currently I am boxing in my home...I was taught by who is now a professional MMA fighter and good friend. I train in my home 5 days a week.


-- What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise? Boxing, Heavy bag work, strength training

-- What is your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly motivation to move towards your goals? My main motivation? Is to look 6 months ahead and say....do I want to say wow or do I want to say, man 6 months already gone? I wonder what I would look like now if I had stuck with it?

-- Do you have rewards for certain goals? Mah, I will do something SMALL every week. Everyone needs a treat. So instead of treating myself to a normal fast food meal...I will probably cook something my moms makes alot.


I am doing this slow and steady. But one thing that will never change is me being a gamer and while many already doubt I can do this while being such a hardcore gamer...all I can do is prove them wrong. I am not sure If I will update everyday but I will keep everyone posted on my progress.

I don't want to be skinny or buff. I just want to be alive when I am 65.
 
Welcome and wow waiting a whole month...I can't go a day..even tho I only count Sunday weight-in..thats some will power to not see a visual on the first month...Kudos :)
 
Good luck mate, sounds like you got some real focus going on there! What kind of gamer are you? FPS or MMMMMORPG?
 
Hey yall, not much to repot... actually there is lol. Sunday we had a big 4th party at my aunts house. Burgers, Chips, pies, cookies, cakes, watermelon, etc. I was GOOD and brought my own whole grain bread, bakes chips and apples for dessert. I was tempted and ate 2 nacho cheese Doritos haha and ate a really nice hamburger...all in all not a bad showing if I say so myself.

NOW that night haha, I was hungry and I decided I would make a half a sandwich but I wanted milk too. So I drove to the store and on the way I was like fuck it...I want some Cheetos. I pull up and low and hehold I forgot my wallet! I took this as a sign, went back home and had a peanut butter sandwich and waited bout 2 hours before I went to sleep.

I am worried I eat to many carbs and won't lose any weight. I worry that just cutting out fast food, sugars and cokes won't be enough. I fear my 1 month weigh in will show a lose of only 5 lbs or even worse a gain! Arg...where is the far loss button when you need it.

For jjjay: I play most every game out there. WoWAddict for 6 years, League of Legends, Mass Effect series and any Bioware game for that matter. Civ 5, Cities XL, Borderlands, you name it I have probably tried it...on the PC that is. I don't console only PC :) I just built a new rig in march and i LOVE IT! Handles Crysis 2 with the new DirectX 11 / Texture pack like a breeze.
 
ooooh I love WoW. I haven't played it for since the new expansion as I was a bit addicted and it was unhealthy!! But I keep meaning to go back and level my top chars up to the max and gear up for raiding...I do miss my guildies! Probably need to upgrade my pc though, its a couple of years old now. I don't console either - it just doesn't feel the same!

Well done on the party - planning ahead solves a lot of temptation issues. LOL at the forgotten wallet - definitely a sign that Cheetos are not to be bought! Keep it up mate!
 
I just went back to WoW. I quit in January, because it was so time consuming. Now, I am more responsible. I'm trying to get my priest geared and my mage to 85. Just hit 84 yesterday. >:)

I played up until my account got hacked about 3 months ago maybe longer lol. Had a pretty good thing goin to before I got hacked. I was 3rd to max archaeology on horde side my server and I was the first to get the Vial of the Sands recipe on the server as well. I think I made about 200k the first week offa that recipe haha

Just cooked some hamburgers...it was yummy.
 
Playin the lotto tonigth with my coworker lol. I feel fatter than usual too. Still fast food / coke free.

Dinner will be a hamburger (90/10) I cooked last night with a serving of baked lays and pickles.

I want to weight myself but I am trying to say NO! I think waiting till the end of the month will be good and bad. Good because I could lose alot and be super happy or bad because I might lose barely anything and a whole month has gone by...thus making me sad and depressed and irate. So I will either be happy or pissed. Lets hope for happy.

I am doing the work too dam it! Good healthy foods and water. How can one go wrong? Lets all pray for happy
 
Been draggin ASS today. Was up a tiny bit to late last night haha. Other than that I started eating Quaker Oatmeal squares for breakfast and I love them!! They keep my VERY full until my mid morning snack at work then I feel perfect for my subway lunch.

No idea what I am gunna be for dinner tonight. I ate that hamburger last night...then 2 hours later worked out. NOT a good idea. I was burping and yuck, yuck, yuck. I will eat those on days I am not working out haha. Once I get my Slap Ya Mama seasoning in I will start doing chicken and rice as well.

Pants still fit well but I am so used to constantly looking for a difference and when I barely "see" a change I get nervous and worried. I need to RETRAIN my brain to just go with the flow and hope the pounds come off.

We shall see.....10 day done...day 11 bring it!
 
Man lunch KILLED me today. I had a nice sandwich from Jason's deli but damn I am so FULL!!! Now all I want to do is sleep haha.

After work I get to clean out my apartment and make room for me weight bench. And if all goes right I will get to workout quite a bit this weekend! Also need to get rid of some chairs I don't use anymore. I am excited just thinking about it :)
 
Worked my ass off today haha. Helped my mother put together a 100 thousand dollar wedding. Running around lifting and sweating my ass off in my cowboy boots sucks! But I will count that as my daily work out. I only got in 2 meals and a snack...but everything was healthy and it feels like soon...maybe another 2-3 weeks I will be needing a new pair of jeans. I feel good, looking better and I acutally was NOT out of breath today!!!

Who knew cutting out fast food and cokes would have this much of a positive effect. Lets pray that my weight loss continues and that God will grant me willpower. I want to become a new man without eating veggies LOL. All those pretty ladies at the wedding gave me new found motivation!
 
Well today is 2 weeks! I have only cheated ONCE (today) with a small bag of hot Cheetos with my sammich.

Took my week two pics. I had to take them on my phone...yuck. My good camera was broke for some reason. I think it was the battery. Anyways, my size 50 jeans are dam near falling off of me haha. It's pretty exciting. Dunno when I will post progress pics. I dont want to do it to soon and get to big for my breeches. I am trying to stay as humble as I can through out all of this.

It sounds like you're doing pretty well so far, have you looked at keeping track of your calories? Learning about how to count calories was one of the best things that happened to me, once I learnt the science behind things the weight loss was predictable and steady.

In fact it did become a bit of a game for me, it's like stats tracking from WoW or Diablo or something, I think that actually made it easier for me because it put weight loss in a context that was interesting to me and that I could understand.

In a nutshell (and I apologize if you already know this), your body naturally burns calories each day based on your age/gender/weight/activity/height. Your maintenance calories is the amount you need to eat/drink per day to maintain your current weight, if you have more then you gain weight, if you have less then you lose weight.

The maths is very simple, 1 pound of fat is approximately 3500 calories, so you need a total deficit of 3500 calories to lose 1lb, spread over a week that's (3500/7 = 500 per day) that means if you eat 500 calories less than your maintenance each day, you'll lose 1lb in a week, and it scales linearly so 1000 cals less is 2lbs a week and so on. Any exercise you do, if you know how many calories it's equivalent of then you can subtract that.

You can keep track of your calories manually pretty easily but you might find it helps to join a website which offers a tool to help, I personally use it has a feature called myplate you can plug in your stats and your target weight loss and it will calculate your daily cal limit, you can graph it all over time to see how you progress.

Anyway I started at 250lbs and about 2 months in I'm 225lbs, this system works really well for me and I think I like it a lot because I can relate so well because i've more or less made it into a game, if you obsess over your calories like you would over WoW stats then you'll be healty in no time :)

I quit WoW ages ago, started playing Rift recently, I actually like it a lot.
 
I know I take in around 2000 calories a day. Maybe a little more depending on how much I work out or how hungry I am. But it stays at a steady 2000 most of the time.

I also know my maintenance, which is 4700 give or take a 2-300 calories I would imagine. That calculation isn't exact. I eat 2000 a day because I just can't eat over 3k anymore. My stomach literally gets to full. I eat whole grains, lean meats, the usual healthly stuff. It's going really well acutally. No craving as of yet and I am losing a good amount and it's only week 2.

I am sure that is due to the fact I am soooo over weight though. It will slow I am sure and that's a good thing...I don't want to have TO much loose skin. My main goal is 250 lbs. and my first small goal is 75 lbs. I don't have a time frame because I don't believe it that. It will come off when it comes off. If I stick with a healthy diet and regular exercise it will come off everntually.

Thanks for the post man! I love hearing about other gamers out there. I played rift for about a month. I am starting to get away from MMO's all together. I play League of Legends now :p
 
Everything ia going pretty well, eating right, exercising, etc. I weight myself on the 29 and that will be 4 weeks of work. I am pretty excited about it! I am trying not to put a number in my head because I don't want to be disappointed. But I would be pretty stinking happy with 10-20. We'll see how it goes soon enough.

Thank god there is a subway within walking distance on my office. That what I eat everyday for lunch. 6" club on 9 grain Honey Oat, Oatmeal for breakfast, etc. Things are lookin good.

I sure hope so I am just generally really hard on myself. I am trying to get get a number in my head of how much I want to lose but I am looking at about 15 pounds. But most likely it will be around 5-8 which won't be horrible by any standards. For the last few day though I "feel" as if I am not making any progress. Don't know what that "feeling" means I just feel that way haha.

Well its offical, I am cheating on my diet tonight. Going to see the opening of harry potter and I AM GETTING MOVIE NACHOS! I am excited
 
Ok so.....I cam home after work, I ate and then worked out. I went to see harry potter and let me just say. WOW, what a PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT ending to a beyond amazing series.

And I didn't get nachos. I feel good. But randomly worried at the same time. I hope my hard work is paying off.
