The Diary Of An Obese Man
The Beginning
January 2009.
Here I am, a male going on forty this year that is very overweight. I would like to say that I carry the weight well as I am fairly broad, but the truth be known I am getting fatter by the day. Over the past year I have put on at least a stone and currently am simply too fat at 17½ stone.
The big problem for me is I drive to work, I am pretty damn lazy and my job involves me sitting down on my chair being a keyboard warrior for a large organization.
I am also around five foot eight or nine, so you can get the picture that I am getting curvier. This was only heightened by the fact that some of my XL t-shirts are feeling a little tight that I noticed at the beginning of the year.
The last thing I need is to join the ranks of the XXL league as when you hit the top there, there is nowhere to go!
The best thing I can do is diet and to do this, I am going to try to keep a diary of the challenges that I face in losing some weight. If I can knock 5½ stone off and get to 12 stone then that will be a fantastic achievement for me and back to the level that I was when I used to do weight training about 16 years ago!
Why am I documenting this?
This is to give me something to reflect back on when the going gets tough and also be a motivator to help me regain fitness and stamina as well as fix a possible blood pressure issue that my weight is probably causing.
Last year I had a long term goal to run the London marathon, that is still a goal. However after a few weeks of trying to train my ankles and shins were shot to hell. The fact is, the body is not designed to be carrying the weight of such a large person like myself and the constant impact of running on the pavements in the early morning took it’s strain and it took months for my ankles to recover.
Here is the diary of a “new” me as I attempt to lose 1/3 of my curvier body weight. I have no idea about diets, but I am going to do it my way and win.
