The amazing shrinking woman (I hope!)

Oh Jess you poor thing! That's horrible!

My own first experience wasn't too bad I guess. I had complained of stinging and itching on my chest to my mother and she noticed that I was starting to develop when I showed her where the itching was. Well, she had developed early as well, but her mother refused to let her wear a bra until she was 14 years old. She suffered thru years of riding on bumpy school buses, in tractors and on the backs of hay wagons without proper support. She said it was VERY painful, and she has aweful stretch marks and scars from it and she vowed she would NEVER make a daughter of hers go thru that - so the second my sisters and I showed signs of 'blossoming' she hauled us into the local department store to be fitted for our little training bras. One white, one beige.

The training bras they have available today are SO much cuter than what we had back then. I'm not ready for her to have any of the matching bra/thong panty sets that I saw though. Not at 10 years old. If she wants to wear that kind of thing, she'll have to buy it herself.

Growing up I had an agreement with my mother. If she paid for the clothes, she picked them. If I wanted to choose my own clothes, I had to pay for them. She had me in these aweful ruffles and bows all the time, and always dressed me and my sister (2 years younger than me) in identical clothes - which we both HATED. That's probably why I've had a job since I was 12 years old! LOL!

But I think it was a good arrangement. It taught me a lot about being responsible for myself and my things. It taught me how to budget my money for things that I wanted, about shopping around and getting the best price for the best quality. I'd like to have a similar arrangement with my kids as they grow up - though not necessarily with them having jobs. They are pretty hard to come by in our area, especially for teens. Instead we may have to work out a deal where they help out more around the farm and get paid for it. We'll see...

The weather was actually pretty nice today and I walked out to help hubby feed the cattle. It got my blood pumping and put me in the mood for a run, so I didn't have any trouble hopping on the ol' treadmill when I got back for a nice 3.5 mile jaunt. I felt fabulous and would have liked to go further but I didn't have enough time. The minions were demanding to be fed.

Eating has been terrible this weekend - too much leftover birthday cake and too many no bake cookies. I should REALLY step on the scale tomorrow, but I'm kind of dreading it.

hey Tigs. Sometimes we all go through patches where the same old routine seems unappealing...shake it up a little I think - new music, new mix of exercises. Why not try something calmer and more toning like pilates or yoga stuff? Or do a week of abs?

Sorry to hear the weekend wasn't the best. I hope work isn't as busy for you this week. Your probably just feeling burnt out and that's why you don't have the energy for your workouts. Start fresh today with the eating and get back on track - you will feel better by Wednesday if you do!
Face the music on the scale too and it will motivate you to get back on track!!

Ok, Lisa - I did as suggested and faced the music. Stepped on the scale this morning and.... 139.2!

I'm trying to keep in mind that today should be my last day of TOM, I have a major case of DOMS today from weight training on Saturday (which always makes me gain a few lbs) and last night for supper I had taco salad with the chips (which I usually leave out because they are too salty) and I'm probably retaining a bit of water. But YIKES!!! I didn't think I'd been eating THAT badly to have gained 6 lbs over the last week or so!

I'm hoping that if I drink plenty of water today (which was pretty low over the weekend as usual) that things flush out in the next day or 2 and I drop back down to where I was.

If nothing else it's lit a fire under me to get my butt in gear! Can't wait to get home tonight and go for my run!

WHEW! I'm zonked! My work out really kicked my ass tonight! It's the start of a new 4 week period, so all my reps, sets, and weights went up accordingly. I was tired after I ran my usual 3.5, and I really didn't want to do my upper body weight training. I especially didn't want to do it when I signed on and saw what was on the plan for tonight. UGH!

So I turned on Heavy (show on A & E) and hoped it would inspire me. The kids wanted to help out, so they changed out all the plates on the dumb bells and bar bells for me. It was good practice for the older girls calculating how to divide up the different plates to get the right amount of weight on everything my plan was calling for. How could I disappoint them and not actually use the weights?

So I did it! Can't say I felt fabulous afterwards. I'm shaky and wobbly, and I KNOW darn good and well I'm going to be sore as hell tomorrow. But I did it!

No body weight challenge though. I just couldn't manage that on top of working so hard with the weight training tonight. And now it's over. So I did 10 out of the 12 sessions, and I know I got LOTS stronger over the last 4 weeks. So I feel pretty good about that.

I bought a new pair of running shorts last week. They are supposed to have a tummy supporting panel in them. Every time I run I can feel my belly skin flopping around and I always worry about causing more damage to the skin with it not being supported as I run, so I bought a size small (said 4-6 on the label) and tried them out tonight. While they were great at wicking away the sweat, the cut of the shorts seems like they were made for a ball with legs! They were too big! I kept having to pull them up as I was running tonight. I'm kind of disappointed in that purchase. I don't think they had a smaller size though. I'll have to go to some other type of specialty store I think. And this time I'll be sure to try them on BEFORE I buy them!

I hope yall are having a great week so far!

And this time I'll be sure to try them on BEFORE I buy them!
I have to try everything on before I buy it - I've learnt the hard way too!

Great work out and 10 out of 12 sessions is great!! That's more than 2 a week Tig so you should be really proud!
I hate the giggly feeling I get when I run - the only things that should bounce - don't, lol :smilielol5: everything else does though!
Good start to the week! Keep it going!!

How cool is that!!!!!! They didn't have a size small enough for you!!!! A year or two ago could you ever have imagined that happening??? :D

They have matching bra/thongs sets for 10 year olds?? WHY oh why?? I remember going back to watch my little brother's awards ceremonies or other stuff like that, and thinking that all the girls were wearing way less clothing than I did back then.. and we're only four years apart! Sounds like the trend has continued.

Stepped on the scale this morning and I'm down to 136.8 - still a few pounds to get back to where I was a couple weeks ago. But I'm getting there! And I'm going go keep going beyond that to get to my final goal! I'm SO close!

Foods were awesome today, and drank TONS! Found a new tea that is carmel vanilla flavored black tea - I love it! Doesn't need any sweetener or milk or anything. It's definately my new favorite!

Ran my 3.5 when I got home from work, then hubby 'helped' me cool down with a different sort of exercise - if you know what I mean (wink, wink). We made chef salads for supper tonight with Wishbone's Robusto Italiano salad dressing and hubby talked me into trying shredded smoked cheddar and swiss cheese on it. OMG! It was SO good!

My 10 year old wanted me to prove to her that I could do a pull up - so I did 1 with my palms facing away, and 4 with them facing me. I could have done more I think if I weren't so sore from yesterday's weight training, but I'm so stoked at this small proof that I AM getting stronger every day! Woo hoo!!!

I'm going to have an early night tonight and get to bed early. I have to drive up to the city for work tomorrow and need to be on the road before 4:30 am because it's supposed to snow again tonight (a little bit - just to make driving sucky).

Have a good evening all my fellow WLF friends!

136.8lb?? Wow how jealous am I! Sounds like you're doing fab, keep up the good work!

And if you manage to get your ass out of bed at 4:30 am in the morning, then kudos to you! It's currently 4:00am here in the UK and i'm still up (supposed to be essay writing), I can't imagine getting up at this time. Ha.

Anyway, good work! :)

It's 9:00 where I live, but 10:00 where I work. I've always wondered what time it was over where all my UK friends are when I'm on here, but have been too lazy to figure it out!

Good luck with the essay writing! Hope you get some sleep too!

Hey you!!! You seem to be doing well! well done on the weight loss!!

TImezones:
London is 5 hour ahead of NYC
Spain is 6 hour ahead of NYC

You are in the "Middle of nowhere in the USA" - So I couldnt calculate it for you - i dont know your state.

Keep up the good job!

Hugs :grouphug:

I live right on the edge of Mountain Standard Time, but work on the edge of Central Standard Time. Some days that really sucks!

ZOMG. And I thought my "get up at 5.30am, on the road by 6.30am" was hardcore....4,30am just beats that hands down!

I'd like to get to a pull-up point!! I figure I have to do that before I can realistically get all my rock climbing gear out and get back on the crag! No point if I can't lift my own weight! Pretty impressive Tigs!

Well, I managed to get on the road by 4:10 this morning, but the roads ended up not being too bad, so I had an extra 20 minutes before I had to be at work. I drive right past a 24 hr grocery store on my way to work, so I figured what the heck, I'll get part of my shopping done and won't have to do it after work. I was shocked to see how many people I saw shopping in their pajamas, no make up, serious bed head - even one woman wearing these yellow ducky slippers! I would NEVER go out in public like that! Even when I was 50 lbs heavier I would never be caught dead like that! Don't these women have any pride at all???

Then tonight when I got off work I went to the local mall to this electronics store to pick up this splitter thingy (yea I know - highly technical term there) for hubby and as I walked past all the shops I noticed that the mannikins in the shop windows were no longer the standard skinny model body types. They have FAT mannikins now! When did that happen???

Maybe I should try to get to a mall more than once every 5 to 10 years... :D I might notice things like that more often.... Maybe. Or not. I tend to shop more like a man then a woman. I have my list, I get in, get my stuff and get out ASAP because I detest shopping so much.

When I got home tonight I dutifully did my weight training according to my exercise plan. Hubby left for a pool game (he's filling in for a friend) and I got the kids to bed.

That's where my day went to shit. I was low on calories (400 below what I should have eaten today) so I had a couple glasses of wine. And then I found hubby's stash of chocolate... :banghead: Believe me - it wasn't a pretty signt. SO I ended up being right at maintenance (or slightly over) for the day.

And did I mention I had pizza for supper tonight?

Thank goodness tomorrow is a whole new day and I'll get to start all over again.

Well Tigs, to be honest, its so RARE that you splurge out on food that I think you are forgiven!

I enjoy shopping so much more nowdays that if I see a nice piece of clothing, chances are that it actually comes in a size that I can get two limbs into rather than just one. It makes for so much more "potential". Actually, as a goal reward, I think I might save up for a trip to New York to do some serious clothes shopping in the factory outlets! Get down exchange rate!

My dad loves chocolate so we usually have it in the house tempting me. Luckily my dad who usually doesn't remember anything, knows exactly how much chocolate he has so I can't binge on it without him getting upset. When he hands it out he only gives out small pieces at a time so it doesn't sabotage my eating. My husband does all his binges at work. :)
As Jay says you rarely go off track so don't worry about it. You are already skinny and gorgeous so it isn't so important.

There was a lot of stuff in the press here a while back about people wanting "average" sized clothes mannequins. It bugs me when they are all skinny because I'll see something lovely on a model, try it on and it looks TERRIBLE. Stupid skinny mannequins. Don't worry about the bad day, lovely--Tomorrow is a fresh start!

I've always hated how the mannequins are super skinny and then they pull the clothes so tight on them and pin them up. Of course none of us are going to look like that in the clothes when we put them on!

:smilielol5: Pizza, chocolate, and wine were all three of my vices this past week too! haha. Great minds, and great stomachs think alike! :D! You are forgiven, my dear!! No go off & conquer your day! Have you tried to do another pull up lately!? Besides, ....chocolate & red wine have anti oxidants, and pizza has cell vibrators in it! Makes you feel FUCKN GOOD down to the core of your very cells!!! hahah!! ;)

So you see, ...you were just breaking yourself off a good one! ;) hahah!! :beating: Love ya, woman! You are the best!
