The 250 Pound Journey

Our bodies are strange like that (esp. women). TOM and you'll see fluctuation, a little more salt and you'll see a gain, a little less water and you'll see a gain. And shygemini is right, sometimes the body loses in chunks. So keep at it. You are doing well and your journal is very inspiring. Keep it up.

Thanks, Juni! I'm definitely going to keep it up. I'm not ever giving up on my healthy living. I just need to figure out why the scale isn't cooperating.

Your supportive comments are very appreciated! Thanks, hon!

i am peeking at your food diary right now...i think you may be having a weight stall due to excess sodium intake. Sodium can definitely stall weight loss!! For instance the pizza today (which for some reason shows as 0 calories) would have been really high in sodium (because pizzas just...are). Another exaple is the curry sauce you had a few days back. If that was a bought sauce, i am confident it would be high in sodium (although it shows on there as 0). And other days i notice your sodium count is quite high. Maybe something to think about.

I think maybe you're looking at the diet Pepsi - which is the first soda pop I've had in months, that's 0 calories. It's also the first pizza I've had in months. Like I said I fully intended to pig out today (even though I only ate a little over 1,600 calories lol). But yeah, I've cut down on the salt intake A LOT and I still need to cut it down even farther. I hope you're right about it just being the salt. Hopefully that means it's just water retention and that it will all go away soon. lol :)

Thanks for the advice, sweetie!

nope i wasn't looking at the diet pepsi (besides, that would have no salt ) :) I was looking at the pizza that said 0 g sodium. :)

But in general, i noticed with going back in your diary that your sodium intake is quite high. :)

You are welcome.

I was talking about when you said "For instance the pizza today (which for some reason shows as 0 calories)". I guess you probably meant to say 0 sodium?

On another note - Diet Pepsi does have sodium. I think most sodas do, that's probably why they call it "soda" (for the sodium bicarbonate). :)

But anyway, yeah, I'm fazing out the sodium. I don't want to go "cold turkey" as I think it's like with eating healthier - I have to slowly change my tastes so that I don't crave salty things, otherwise I will feel deprived and will crave them even more. lol But believe me, I'm eating a lot less salt then I used to. I'll get to the point soon where I am down to very little salt, it's just going to take a little bit of time. :)

Thanks again for the advice. I really hope that the salt stops holding on to my weight, or whatever it's doing. lol

Sorry to hear that the weight loss isn't going as planned. I would guess that it probably is water retention not fat gain so just cut down your sodium and try not to worry about it. If you keep on the way you have been the weight will go down. :)

Blah, typo! Yep i meant the pizza was listed as 0 sodium. Sorry :) Was super tired last night.

I never thought of pop having sodium,, but it has such a small amount that i suppose it is negligible anyway. But you are quite correct :)

Hey Stacy

I just got caught up on your diary I hadn't stopped in a few days! I don't know how the weather is where you are but over here it's very humid, crasy humid so I know that when i weight myself the scale will be higher by at least a couple of lb, humidity causes water retention! I alway know by how my wedding band feels it's usually loose and almost falling out but when it's humid it's tight I know it I will have a weight gain on the scale! Have you done your measurments? I suggest that you do if you haven't sometimes we gain the same amount of muscle weight that we lost in fat so the scale doesn't show but measuring yourself everyother month could help you see the difference!

Sometimes the stupid scale just isn't wanting to cooperate so just keep doing what you are doing and eventually you will see a difference. I find it great that your tasts have change at least eating healthy is easyer now!
Keep going don't give up, you can do this!!!!

Thanks, Val! I'm going to keep on keepin' on. lol :) I think you're right, if I just stick with it my body will eventually start cooperating again. heh

Ohhh That's a good idea! I haven't measured myself in a while. You're probably right about the muscle gain. I think I'll set some time out this afternoon to do my measurements again. :) Thanks!

As for the humidity, it's pretty dry here this time of year. So I can't blame it on that, but it would be nice to pin this down so that I will know what to try to avoid. heheh I think whatever has caused it I'm sure it's probably water retention (either from not drinking enough water, the salt, or perhaps an upcoming period). Who knows, I just hope it goes away SOON! lol My body is really being quite sneaky and sly about this whole weight loss thing. She was so cooperative the first two months, the weight just melted off. Now she seems bound and determined to keep on the weight. lol I'm now on day nine of no progress on the scale and it's seriously the suckzarz.

Maybe your body just got used to the routine, time to challenge yourself with a new workout or new foods??? I have been having plateau after plateau this time around myself so these are things I notice I like to share my experiences!!!

Hmm well my diet is very diverse, so I'm not sure if new foods is the answer as I eat new foods a lot. lol But yeah, maybe I should try to shake up the exercise routine. Thanks for the advice, hon! :)

The Scale is MOVING AGAIN!

I'm giddy... I mean like totally spazzy joy joy happy chick! :hurray::biggrinjester: For the first time in a week and a half the scale is moving down again! I've reached a new low on the scales and that is a BIG sigh of relief. The past 10 days has been brutal on me, to know I'm doing well but still thinking I must not be, because the scale wasn't moving (in fact there was even a 2 lb weight gain over night during that plateau)- blarg! I was really starting to think I was doing something wrong. But I just stuck with it, kept doing what I was doing and the scale finally started cooperating again! W00T!

Those two pounds that came on over night left within 48 hours and then this morning I wake up to nearly half a pound gone, bringing my weight loss so far to nearly 28 pounds! A little over 2 more pounds and I reach my 30 lb mark! I'm so jazzed!
