"That which does not kill us makes us stronger" - Elle's diary

Oh shucks... I also forgot to mention, when I have a craving for chocolate ice cream I usually indulge in Popsicle's Fudgsicles- No sugar added. They're only 40 calories with 1 gram of fat and 2 grams of sugar. WOOT! You can eat like 2 of those and still be guilt free! Well, that's what I do. LOL

-Sheryl

oooooooooh, now that's something I wouldn't feel guilty about eating! Not to mention that fudgsicles are deliiiiiiish, I haven't had one since I was a kid. mmmm... I'm so gonna pick some up today. haha. Thanks Sheryl!

Well I guess I don't have to take my mom's car into the shop. She decided she's going to. I suppose that means that I can snuggle with David for a bit longer. YAY! Can't sleep though cause I might have to go pick her booty up if she's gotta leave it there.

I'll be back on later. Hope everyone is goooooooooooood!

much loooove!
xoxo

:] Thanks for the suggestion!! So, I went to the freezer last night and used Kimberly's technique BUT I couldn't bring myself to actually eat the ice cream. I felt too guilty inside. lol. I guess this whole eating well thing is catching up with me.

Well, it's probably better if u just leave it alone. But if you're really having a craving, it works like a charm for me.

I never actually mentioned his name. But you were close in the length of it. Matt... David... Not a big difference. but I'm sure he'd let you call him Matt if you wanted. haha :] He's tall, puerto rican, and looks scary but he's just a big softy. :)

It must have been someone else's diary. I read yours and another newbie's one after the other, and her bf was matt. Anyway, David is my hubby's name, so that's funny...:rotflmao:

ooooh gotcha! I mix things up all the time, quite understandable. :] Craziness on the same name thing. He says you can call him whatever you want as long as you call him. haha, yeah, don't mind him. He's nuts. :p

Snuggling is nice. Best way to spend a morning.

I can't agree more! Especially on the chilly mornings. :]

Maybe I'm missing something but can someone clue me into what exactly this rep power thing is? I'm assuming that it's a good thing but I didn't want to press it cause I have no godly idea what it does.

You click give rep for this post and leave a little message and the persons numbers go up!

You can see who left it by clicking on your user cp in the right hand corner and scroll down and it'll be there and you can leave it for others... the more points you have the more points you can give to someone else!

ooooooh! Gotcha!!
Thanks Jenna & Mal for clarifying that for me. :]
I feel like a little lost puppy around here.

Yesterday was a pretty crazy day. David and I had a lot of running around to do. Did all our junk and then came back home and I decided to take a nap cause I wasn't feeling 100%.

Slept for a few hours and woke up and he was downstairs doing the dishes. Found a pack of cigs sitting on my nightstand that he had bought me while he went to pay our cell phone bill.

Yeah, I smoke. It's horrible and I intend on quitting soon. It's just ridiculously hard. I've tried the gums, the patches, pills from the doctor and nothing seems to work. So I think once I get down to my goal David and I are going to quit together cold turkey. We'll be a pissy bunch for awhile and I'm sure we'll be at each others throats but it's something we both need to do.

He came upstairs and smoked a cig with me. Then I was like 'oh crap, I've gotta pay my credit card bill' and he grabbed his checkbook and said that he was going to pay it for me this month. I asked how much and instead of the $13 that my payment was he told me to pay $50. I swear he's the sweetest guy ever.

Later on we realized that David had to go to some seminar for work at RIT (a college around here) today, Wednesday & Thursday. So David, my mom and myself decided to drive out to Henrietta to figure out exactly where he has to go. My mom knew exactly where he had to go so she lead the way.

After we did that we were went to my hometown (Fairport) and drove around for a bit showing David a bunch of places. They were both hungry and decided to stop at McDonalds. :/ I was going to get a salad but they didn't have any (how in the world do you not have any salads!!). I was entirely too hungry to wait until we got home to eat and my calories were pretty low for the day so I figured I'd get the chicken selects meal. Boy was that a mistake. I got a powerade with my meal but found that it was way too sugary to drink so I didn't drink it. Started eating the fries and had maybe 10 of them and felt like I was going to puke so I gave them to David. Started eating the chicken and it was okay. I got through 4 of them and felt really grody though so I gave the other one to David. While I sat feeling sick I decided to go online on my sidekick to see what exactly the nutrition facts were for them...

Oh my god. For claiming to be one of their "more healthy" things they sure were full of calories. A 5 piece was 630 calories!!! I just about shat myself right there.
I think it's funny that McDonald's has the nutrition facts on almost everything except for the "healthy things".
Big mac: yep. Fries: yep. Double cheeseburgers: yep.
Salads, premium chicken sandwiches, chicken selects... nothing.
I think they know that those things aren't as good as they portray them to be so they don't advertise on the package how wrong they really are.

Drove about 45 minutes home and I started feeling really sick and got a mini migraine right when we got into Webster (the homestead). Got home and drank a ton of water, took some excedrin. Laid down in bed with David, watched some tv and then passed out.

Bottom line: I screwed up by eating stupid McDonalds and will not let it happen again. I was just sooooooo hungry!

Woke up this morning and weighed myself. 203.5lbs. Ick. I gained a pound. That's okay though, I can't expect all days to be losing or stay the same. When David gets out of that seminar thing I'm gonna see if he wants to take my dog to the lake with me for a nice walk. The lake is right across the road from me. If there weren't trees I'd be able to see it from my yard. Ya gotta go down the road like 5 minutes to get to the entrance though but that's alright. I love it there.

I'm gonna go make a salad for lunch. As for everyone, I hope your day is awesome so far!

xoxo

Hey Elle
I just got done reading through your diary. You are one funny girl!! I too write mini-novels. You should be here in person you would never get a word in edgewise!:rotflmao:
I think we are way more alike than we know.
My hubby is Puerto Rican, in fact we just came back from the island for our vacation. His name is Gil. He needs to lose weight too but that is all up to him.
Right now he is currently out of town for the week. He is a children's minister so has to spend one week every summer at camp as a sponser.
We will have been married 11 years this thursday the 9th of August.
Way to go on losing 10#'s!!!!!!!!!! (That's 10 exclamations. One for every #)
I can't wait to celebrate that. I was/am so disgusted with myself for going all the way up into the 30's. I actually was in "onederland" last year. Barely but I was there. I hadn't been that small since way before I got married. In fact Gil has never seen me smaller than 195. I weighed 165 when I graduated from school and would so love to get back to that.
You keep up the good work Girl!!!!!
Oh and Mcdonald's is like from Satan.
Have you ever watched the documentary "SuperSize Me"?
I watched it when it 1st came out and quit the arches for about 3 months. In that 3 months I lost 10#'s just by not eating there!!
Have a nice time at the lake.

OMG that McD's in Fairport is horrible! LMAO (You kept naming places and I was like, "Oh I know Henrietta!" haha I know.. I'm weird.) I did the same exact thing! I wanted to order one of their chicken salads (grilled, never crispy) and when they said they didn't have any my reply was, "Are you facking kidding me???" Instead, I ordered the Mc Chicken Grilled or whatever the hell you call it. I just ordered the sandwich, because I didn't want to feel the need to eat the fries also. I have to say, those bastards are smart with their marketing ploys: charge the sandwich alone just as much as the meal. Fackers! I'm really cheap and I usually say things like, "well for blah blah dollars I can get the whole meal." Ummm yah... that's the reason why I got "chubby" in the first place! Devil Fast FOOD!

So... being that my husband and I are always driving along the East Coast, I've decided to go online and figure out what foods I can eat if we do need to stop at fast food restaurants due to starvation. (Also, I now pack a cooler of fruits, veggies, turkey sandwiches, water, etc if we do a road trip.. much cheaper and much healthier.) Here's a couple places you'll find almost everywhere:

McD's:
-Chicken Grilled Sandwich no mayo
- yogurt and apples pack
-parfait
- happy meal (regular hamburger) and you can even enjoy the toy! woot!

Arbys:
- Grilled Chicken Sandwich (no sauce/ mayo)
- roast beef sandwich.. no cheese/ sauce
(Those so called "healthy looking deli sandwiches" are FULL of calories, so becareful)

tacobell:
- They have a number of items that aren't all too bad if you order them "fresco style"... in place of cheese, which I think is great.

Wendys:
- Mandarin Chicken Salad (no won ton strips, half packet dressing, whole package of almonds)
- baked potato and small chili.. (pour chili on potato instead of sour cream, etc)

Although you're taking steps to eating items "healthier" at these restaurants, do remember "bad comes with the good." Regardless, these items will be high in sodium. That's expected with fast food joints. As long as you don't make it a habit, you'll do fine. :D

-Sheryl

Your boyfriend sounds sooooooooo sweet. Its great that he's helping you out like that.

As for fast food.... just the commercials right now make me want to gag... I can't imagine eating it. You probably got that migraine from all the sodium you ingested in that little bit of a meal you ate. Its there fault for not having salads (I dont' understand how they don't have any salads:confused:  ).... the sodium is also probably the reason for the scale going up today... damn water retention!

Keep up the great work Elle, Your gonna be dropping weight like crazy!

~Jenna

Yeah, but now you have a ready made excuse for not eating there. "It makes me sick and gives me an instant headache." No one can force you to eat that which makes you sick!

Hey Elle
I just got done reading through your diary. You are one funny girl!! I too write mini-novels. You should be here in person you would never get a word in edgewise!:rotflmao:

haha well thanks! I just tell my friends to tell me to shut up when I ramble. :p of course they never do and I feel like an idiot in return.

I think we are way more alike than we know.
My hubby is Puerto Rican, in fact we just came back from the island for our vacation. His name is Gil.

That's so funny that your hubby is puerto rican too. Well David's not my hubby yet but you know that I mean. :) Going to PR must have been awesome! David and I want to head there sometime as most of his relatives still live there.

He needs to lose weight too but that is all up to him.

Maybe you changing your life will help him into deciding that he wants to as well :]

Right now he is currently out of town for the week. He is a children's minister so has to spend one week every summer at camp as a sponser.
We will have been married 11 years this thursday the 9th of August.

That's so amazing! Congratulations on 11 years!

Way to go on losing 10#'s!!!!!!!!!! (That's 10 exclamations. One for every #)
I can't wait to celebrate that.

:] Thanks! It felt great... while it lasted. haha. You'll get there soon enough, it really feels awesome to see the scale go down.

I was/am so disgusted with myself for going all the way up into the 30's. I actually was in "onederland" last year. Barely but I was there. I hadn't been that small since way before I got married. I totally feel ya on the being disgusted with oneself about letting the weight get up there. I knew I kept gaining weight recently but did nothing about it. I thought I still looked okay until I got a whole mess load of stretch marks on my tummy  and couldn't stand to see myself while getting undressed before a shower. Then I knew that I needed to make some serious changes.

Be thankful that you decided to change when you did. You'll be back in onderland and down to your ideal weight soon enough! You can do eeeeeetl!! :jump:

OH MY GOSH YEEEEEEEES! That documentary is INSANE! Just watching it I felt sick. lol. I too stopped eating McD's after that... who in the world knows why I started again. haha

Yeah, I wrote a novel. again. ha

Sheryl... you are amazing! That list I'm sure will come in handy one of these days. And when I use it I will think of you and your super genius powers. :rotflmao:

Yay to you knowing my area! :) Personally I hate henrietta cause driving there is just flat out retarded. Same with Greece. Have you seen the McD's in Fairport since they tore it down and rebuilt it? It's insanely huge and has some big flat screen tv on one of the walls... yeah it definitely doesn't look like a McD's anymore.

The burgers look like some sweaty man wiped it aaaaaaaall over his face before he slapped it on a bun. They definitely make me feel sickly now too.

The McD's just got torn down and rebuilt so I'm thinking maybe that's why they didn't have any. Or they're just stupid. Either way I was pissed. lol.

I hadn't thought about the whole retaining water thing. Jenna, you just made my day! :jump:

And thanks for the super nice words! How're you doing with your diet/exercise and stuff of the like?
