SwampBillies Diary

Hi Swampbilly, I am a perpetual 190's-er also, someday...someday...we will enter the 180's and then people better WATCH OUT! Hope today is treating you well, and I'll be over later for my free haircut!

LOL....since real estate is going so well...maybe I should get into dog grooming....:svengo:

I swear the first 20 pounds came off pretty easy.....then as soon as I got under the 200 mark the scale stopped moving...at first i thought it was because i started working out.....but i can only use that excuse for so long.....now i just don't know why i am not making any progress....i should be losing it faster with having added exercise....i would think.....how long can you hold water weight.....none of it makes any sense

I know how you feel. I've been feeling like "how low can I go before I lose a freakin lbs!" And then I thought I was so low I was stalling myself out so I increased the cals and now I feel terribly bloated...I'm afraid to weigh myself!
Hopefully you have a huge loss coming on...like its been saving itself up to surprise you or something!

Well I know my calories were not too low because when I went on vacation I ate more but not crazy out of control and I gained 5 pounds! I have been back for a week and have been fighting that 5 pounds. This morning I was back down a pound and a half but that still puts me two and a half pounds up from my low. Does that make any sense? All so confusing. I just want to get below the 194 mark!:banghead:
I am holding out for tomorrow being the day! Going to keep the calories very low today and tonight is cardio night. So I am going to try to jump start something here. Gotta get past this. I sure would like to find a used treadmill. Willpower is strong today. Going to fight hard today.:boxing:

try looking on craiglist.com or even freecycle.org (a mailing list that you can post crap you want to get rid of or requests for stuff you want)

My personal favorite place for used equipment though, is Play it again sports...

they sell nothing but used equipment -and it's generally good quality stuff

depending on time of year - freecycle -in some areas list them... it might be worth signing up for that mailing list -

My Quest For A Bathing Suit

>

> When I was a child in the 1960s the bathing suit for the mature figure was

That is funny.

Hey swampbillies, did you notice a metabolism change when you quit smoking? Or did I just pig out last time?

I was not dieting at the time so I wasn't counting any calories or anything. But I knew that after I got past the smoking I wanted to do something about my weight. I made what I thought was a consious effort to not eat more than usual. I gained 15 pounds in a month. So now was it metabolism or a case of eating more than I thought I was? Who knows. But exactly one month after my quit date I started this calorie diet. It has really helped me with the smoking. I think because it gives me something else to focus on.

Well I know my calories were not too low because when I went on vacation I ate more but not crazy out of control and I gained 5 pounds! I have been back for a week and have been fighting that 5 pounds. This morning I was back down a pound and a half but that still puts me two and a half pounds up from my low. Well it took a couple of days longer than i expected but today was the day!! Stepped on the scale today at 193!!!:hurray:
That is an all time low for me! Makes it an even 25 pounds that I have lost. What is amazing to me is that no one seems to have noticed. I guess you know you have gotten really, really fat when you lose 25 pounds and no one notices! Sometimes I fantasize about wearing really baggy clothing so noone can see that I am losing the weight and then one day just appear wearing something skin tight and looking really hot! :svengo:
Oh well, a girl can dream can't she?

Well since the real estate market has gone bust I decided to get a real job. I still sing and that makes my truck payment, gas and groceries. But I needed something coming in to help with my share of the bills. I also need something with benefits. In March when I looked around and saw that I was closing in on 50 as an overweight smoker with no health insurance and no retirement plan I decided major changes needed to be made. I quit smoking then a month later I embarked on this new way of eating. But I still needed to do something about a retirement plan. So I looked around and decided that my new career is going to be in education. I am raising my grandson who is 8 years old and working in the school system would work with his schedule. So the minute I start applying for jobs they immediately freeze everything. This has gone on for months. I got called for a few interviews and they all told me they would love to have me as soon as the freeze was lifted. Until then they can only hire from within the district.
Well yesterday I got a call. There is a job. It is at a school that I would like to work at. It is with the kindergarten kids, which I prefer. They are developmentally disabled which is fine with me. BUT. Always a but. I would be hired temporarily. The job would remain as open and unfilled on the web site. If a permanent employee chooses to apply for the job, it boots me out. If I can hang in there until Oct 16th the job becomes mine and I become permanent and then I pick up all the great county perks and benefits.
I am excited about this new path. A totally new career. I have changed careers a couple of times already and I have really enjoyed the variety. I am hoping this leads to bigger better things. And what a nice feeling it will be to know I have insurance and a retirement plan and vacation time.:hurray:

Thanks! I think you are right. I went and spent some time with the teacher I wil be working with yesterday and I think this is going to be great. I like her alot. Also the class is ESE pre K, 3-5 year olds. I love the little ones. They are so easily impressed and they believe anything you tell them. LOL
Been crazy busy trying to get everything ready for me and my grandson to both go back to school on Monday. I also had to sing both last night and tonight, just got home a little bit ago and am still too wound up to sleep. Gonna look around a little more and then head off to bed soon. Thanks for stopping in!
