Susie's Fitness Journal

Hi susie
slim in 6 are very tough and somehow boring..the cardio part is too much ,very challenging ,and very long and i hate cardios
but it gives u the best results, infact every beachbody product is great, like turbojam, yogaballet ,power90 and slim in 6
other reason is that i had borrowed a dvd player of my sis ,and it is not working prporely anymore, cant risk my dvds :)

Oh and btw tae bo is awesome,
but still u must have the dediaction and desire to achieve your goal ,and u have got both so best of luck:)

Don't say things like that, Sadie, you'll jinx me! :)

As it is, last week was lame. I skipped a few workouts, I just felt really low energy and unmotivated. This week will be better!

Big news for me, today I actually found tuna packed in WATER (not oil). This is the first time I have ever seen it here. Unfortunately, it costs the equivalent of four dollars for one little can. The stuff packed in oil (and it's not olive oil, either) costs less than $1. I'm dreaming of the tuna shelves in US grocery stores. Booo hooooo.

I measured my calves and they have increased in size from 13.5 to 14 inches, which to me is awesome. Of course I've got a way to go, but it's great to see some improvement, especially when I've had a bad week workout-wise....

u have the desire, else u were not on fitness.com,and u are more dedicated to your workouts than me:D.so u have both
proved my point
congrats on calf size,u are doing great
i love to ready your diary:)

Hi Slim I really like reading yours, too!

Well as luck would have it I managed to get my mitts on Slim in 6. I didn't seek it out but they were available from a friend so, beggars can't be choosers, I took them.

I started the first routine today-- it definitely got my heart rate up so that's good. There are no weights in this first routine though, I probaby will just look at this as cardio and do supplementary strength training. I know the second DVD has bands, and you can use dumb bells instead, so I'll probably do that.

And then guess what my husband just carried in the door five minutes ago? That Billy Blanks DVD! I ordered it on August 1st and finally on September 12th it arrived in the mail.

I guess I'll keep Billy Blanks for after I get through Slim in 6?

woohoo

i am so glad that u have started your slim in 6 routine, did u get the extras too?like the meal plan and stuff like that?
dont forget to take measurments and photos to compare later...
start it up is tough too,but ramp it up kickes my butt alot..u can always use the weights but there are moves that u have to do with strech cables,if u can get any around there that would be awesome..
i dont have a dvd player these days,my mom is gonna buy me soon, and i just cant wait to start them all over again(that would be my third try, ahem ahem)
u will get great results
i would let the bily blanks stay for a while and do 6 weeks program, there is a forum for beachbody.com product u might want to join that to get some more info on this program
best of luck:)
keep pushing play susie;)

I don't have the meal plan but I'll make my own calendar.

Is the meal plan anything special? I saw online something about a 2-day fast but I don't need to do that (or so I say now).

My Start It Up is only 25 minutes long, I think older versions were much longer. It went pretty fast, which was good. Not so sure how the next one (about 48 minutes) will go....

I sure as heck couldn't do all of those pushups. It's something to aim for, for sure.

I'm shocked

As I've written here, I started Slim in 6 yesterday-- I'd been looking for some kind of aerobic program I could do at home since I still haven't found a good gym here...

Anyway I was really surprised when I woke up today to discover that I'm actually sore!

I've been doing squats and lunges with weights so I didn't think the unweighted squats and lunges on this DVD would do much-- guess I was wrong. I wonder if it's from the squats you do with your legs together (instead of shoulder-width apart), since I've never done squats like that before. Hm...

oh joys of slim in 6
bless Debbie:p
well u are bound to get sore, since its a high intensity workout, whenever u start new phase u will be sore a little more, and that is the evidence that its working, slim in 6 promises u to give a "Dramatic"results and it does,

u didnt overdo it ,its just a ritual of slim in 6,hehe,i never get sore after doing squats on my own using weights, but since this program is so tough/fast and u have a a short time period to do them,u get sore,we call Debbie(on another forum)squat nazi.

u certainly dont want meal plan since it is for weight loss, and u dont need it,but this programs wants u to keep your carbs intake low while increasing the proteins to get u the results as promised.
and there is a booklet to guide u through program that when and how to progress on this program, after two workouts of start it up u progress to ramp it up for next one and a half week, and then progress to other phases,u have to do six workouts a week(and that is a must)..on seventh day u can do slim and limber or six pack..
u have 42 workouts to complete in 6 weeks.
HTH

Yikes, see, I read somewhere that you do Start It Up for 1 week, but then I read 2 days in other places, like you said. That would mean I should start Ramp It Up *gasp* tomorrow!!! I watched Ramp It Up today and it does look tough, but at least you spend about 10 or 15 minutes doing arm work so it's not cardio that whole time. Hm...

So if I start Ramp It Up tomorrow, then I'd do Burn it Up for four weeks? I watched half of Burn It Up and that looks kinda hellish. But I'm sure it really blasts calories.

I don't need to lose weight, but I have that stubborn unsightly fat on the back of my upper thighs and I really want to see if I lose maybe 3 to 5 pounds (and strength train), if that will get rid of it. Remember, the dreaded big C?

Ohhh well, we'll see how it goes.

I'm going out of town Saturday and Sunday so that'll kind of mess things up, though at least I should be able to "push play" when I get home Sunday night.

Thanks for the info, Sadie, you are my Slim in 6 resource!

I started the second phase of Slim in 6 today, the Ramp It Up video to those who are familiar with it (Sadie :)) I was able to use dumbbells instead of the bands for the upper body stuff, she even says in the video you can substitute light dumbbells if you're not comfortable with bands.

There's two sets of pushups in this one, I definitely wasn't able to keep up with those. And I couldn't complete all of the leg lifts at the end, it's something to work towards so that's good. Kicking out to the side is new for me so I'm interested to see what it does for my lower bod. And those standing side-crunches are new too...we'll see. I have my doubts but I'm going to stick with it for the six weeks (that's the plan, anyway) and see what it does.

All the things that you can't do or finish in the tape can be your new goal. Once you finish the tape, your goal will be complete.

hey susie
i am glad that u are doing good with slim in six,i could never quite get past the ramp it up phase ...
u have to do burn it up for the rest of the weeks, once u are done with ramp it up..
but some day if u feel uncomfortable or tired u can always go back to start it up if u are in ramp it up phase,or u can go to ramp it up if u are doing burn it up...u just cant miss a day:)

i bet u must be seeing differnec in your abs now....i can see my abs more defined after one week on slim in 6...but i could never do all the six weeks,

as far as 2 day fast is concerend u dont need to that too..its just a cleansing diet..u can do liquid diet(any liquid diet) and see the resluts..its just for those who are in desperate need of weight loss and who think a bit flat tummy due to all this starvation is a good sign
sorry i forgot to answer it before:)
best of luck:)

oh i fail during that lower body on all fours workout too,it shows that its my major problem area
i almost give in the end, u know what i mean, and i have a proof posted in my diary too,so u need not to worry:)

bump
how is it going?
