SunnyDee's Diary

Awwww....please? pretty please?
Heehee. Men are almost cute when they beg.

Hey Dee!
Hope you're getting through exams okay. Things are finally starting to warm up here again. First day since Wednesday that we have not had snow. Hopefully the rain this weekend will wash the rest of it away.
Thanks hun. Exams are going well. I'm pretty certain I've totally kicked ass so far. Sorry to hear about your crappy weather. I hope the rain does a good job this weekend. Ontario only has 10 days to prepare for my arrival! Roll out the red carpets! :p

Speaking of which, I just found out that my preceptor (the nurse who will be supervising me over the 8 weeks) works only night shifts... When I found out, I immediately contacted the placement coordinator and told her that I refuse to work 8 weeks of night shifts because A) it's terrible for my health, B) my transportation cannot accomodate those hours that many times a week and C) there's practically nothing for a nurse to do on a surgical unit overnight when everybody is sleeping. I'm fairly certain it would prove to be the worst experience of my life. So they're arranging to pair me with a different nurse. I'm glad I'm not the sit back and shut up type. The squeaky wheel gets the oil.

Oh my, I don't know what I would do without all of you. You're all a bunch of lifesavers, that's for sure. I woke up this morning feeling like I had gained 30 lbs. Studying is bad for my body-image! But coming on here makes it all better.

Glad we can help! Thanks for all the support!!:D

You should probably stay out of that section. It's really a whole other world in there. You don't wanna be a part of that. And then you'll see me in a whole other light and not respect me anymore... it's really not a chance I can afford to take.

I feel ya on that one...I'm sort of a goody-goody in here, and apprarently it's not enough for some of the puritanical types around here--on account of my four-star diary!! Ha! That happened around the same time a few folks stopped showing up in my thread and wouldn't answer me in theirs...so I unsubscribed!

"They" say that working in the health care area can take a toll on ONE'S OWN health...long, stressfull hours and lack of sleep can cause the human body to gorge on sweet stuff and pack on fat. Please be squeaky! I wish you the best! :)

Man I wish I was going to Ontario again this summer :(. I have to agree about speaking up. That would have been a miserable and pretty useless experience compared to what you could be doing on the day shift.

Hey Sunnydee-

Take it from me, patients do anything but sleep overnight! All the exciting stuff tends to happen at night, too. I'm on-call tonight...if the patients all slept, then I would sleep. I promise you that does not happen.

But, the human body is not, by nature, nocturnal. You are so right that working a dayshift would be better for your health, and that is reason enough to request a change.

Where in Ontario will you be?

And from previous posts, I also love Great Big Sea...just saw them live last year...such a fun show. Can't wait til there back here again.

Yay!! I honestly think they may be my favorite band right now. It made it really hard for me to answer that music poll.

Gosh sunnnygirl i worked nights for 3 years once and it aged me like 10 I swear................I read somewhere that nights are worse on women than men because of our cycles and stuff..............yeah get a day shift if ya can swing it!!!!
Have a great day sunnybunny!!!!

Good for you standing up for yourself. What type of nursing are you trying to focus on?

We are supposed to get a bit of a storm tonight, but Barrie, Midland areas. Calling for rain and snow - yuck.

I'll look for my red carpet, hopefully you don't arrive to a "white blanket".

Congrats on kicking ass on your exams.

Sunny - I PROMISE I'd still respect you!
Besides, you can't let 12pack down - that's just wrong!

That actually happened? How bizarre. I don't find you the leaset bit offensive. Well, I guess some people are sensitive and they really can't help it. There are probably things I'd leave threads for too. *Hint to anyone who wants to start raving about the wonders of George Bush and praising the war efforts* Speaking of stars, I don't know if I even have stars! How do you know??

Yeah, I know patients can be pretty active at night, but it's usually slow compared to the days. I generally find nights pretty boring. Especially on a surgical unit, where they tend to be less ill. It seems like more serious stuff happens at night, but less stuff happens. So since there's more going on in the day overall, it's more busy overall. Or something!
I'm going to be staying in Pickering, working in Scarborough.

I'm not sure about a focus. I actually plan on going to med school, so I don't know if I'll get too comfortable in any one area for a while. I have a flair for mental health, but I'm also pretty skilled when it some to hands-on, so I'm versatile!

*Ba-dum chssh!* I love the while blanket pun. You kill me!

Yeah...just look at this sad face...

:(
You two are frigging relentless. Don't make me bust out my sadistic x-rated moves on your asses.
