Summer Weight Loss Odyssey!!!

Thanks TrusyIver, Jen, Flumes & Irish. Great seeing your cool comments.

Early days with the PT Flumes but seems to be helping my motivation.

So completed workout two last night. Was pretty proud of myself for getting it done as was more interested in the tv when I got home. However sucked it up and got going.

Have even more trust in the PT following this session. The workout he designed was for at home rather than the gym. It was a circuit of own weight exercises.(burpees, lunges, press ups, plank, sit ups) When I looked at it first I thought he had under estimated my fitness. How wrong was I!! Turns out I am less fit than I thought. After the first circuit I thought - hey this is too easy. After the session I was - lets say - feeling it and by the third I was a panting sweaty crushed guy!! The session only lasted 17 mins but seems to have been effective.

When I have started diets in the past that have included trips to the gym, I have always pushed myself too hard in the first session or two and have rarely continued into the second week. So I like that this time I am being pushed in smaller sessions so that I am not so wiped out the next day that I cannot function let alone want to hit the gym again. Hopefully I will be exercising for longer periods in a couple of weeks.

On the eating front I have been doing fairly well since Tuesday. Have downloaded an app called iskinny(I wish!!) to keep a record of what I eat during the day. Have had a couple of minor slips but have kept my calories below 1500. I couldnt resist a few spoonfulls of my Mother's bolognaise that she gave me as she had cooked too much and also couldnt resist a stick of galaxy caramel that was in the house. I am so bad with chocolate - I love it. I know it's bad but I think the only way I will get through this is to give in to the odd treat.

Have people staying over on Saturday night which will involve eating out. Determined not to mess up as really want to see a result on the scales next Tuesday but weekends have always been my downfall. Wish me luck!!!

Hope everyone is rocking their diets and are ready for a healthy weekend.

haha, having a PT sounds amazing! And sounds like he'¨s a good fit for you! I know he'll help you get to your goals!

Good luck on Tuesday! :gnorsi:

hey Dayoneguy - welcome and sounds like you've got off to a good start! PTs can be so inspirational for getting you up and moving if you find one you click with but you got to do as you are told!!!

Weighing once a week is definitely better than scale watchign every day - I find this affects my mood about what I eat too much...weight can fluctate for strange reasons and if you go up, even temporarily, I always found more of a temptation to go "oh sod it" and eat more on that day. Once a week works well for me - regularly enough to know how I am getting on, but long enough time to be an ok reflection of what I'm doing.

Good luck with keeping at it and keep posting - this place is really motivating and supportive!

Thanks Sarah. Back to the PT tomorrow so hopefully will be able to perform better.

So Monday morning, you have raised your ugly head again!

Had a top weekend but really struggled with eating out. Had lunch and dinner out on Saturday and a couple of glasses of wine. Tried to pick sensibly but can't say I was brilliant. It was fathers day here so went over to my parent's house on Sunday for a meal. Tried my best but my mother's cooking is too damn good!!

Weekends remain my biggest enemy when it comes to food. Not doing much next weekend so plan to be successful! Hopefully the scales will give me a decent number tomorrow - will be weighing in in the morning before PT session in the late afternoon.

Was meant to get in my third workout in last night but got distracted by the US Open(golf major). Will have to do it tonight which is not ideal as should have been resting ahead of tomorrow's session.

Will check in properly on Wednesday after my weigh in and next installment of pain with PT!

Hope everyone doing well.

ASo I lost 3 lbs! Pretty happy but know it could have been one or two more if I had been better at the weekend and had actually trained as promised last night !!!

Just drove 3 hours for an appointment for work which will involve me needing to be here tomorrow also. Have decided not to stay over night and cancel PT session this evening as don't want to start week two off on the wrong foot. However this means driving 3 hours home at lunch time and then another 6 am start tomorrow to get back here. Oh the joys of trying to get in shape!!

Have decided to ask PT to set me one of those lunch box diets where u graze on the same
meal all day. I lead a pretty busy life and spend a lot of time away from the office and with friends. This tends to mean I have a lot of food choice temptation in front of me. Hoping that if I don't have to think about what to eat each day for a couple of weeks, it will get me to a weight that I feel enough of a loss to not feel in such a rush to get the lbs off.

Sorry for the waffle today. Sitting in a park writing this on a phone waiting for a colleague and the mind is wandering.......

Onwards and upwards I guess

So have been a bit crap for the last few days. Ever since PT session really.

PT session went really well - felt like I had a lot more energy but ever since I have been eating pretty badly. Back on track today but concerned that I will not be able to produce a loss by Tuesday.

Only one thing for it - get off the couch and work out!!!

ADon't worry about producing a loss on Tuesday. Just make sure you get back on track! No matter what happens on the scale, you'll at least know you did everything you could do.

Oh...and I hope you're off the couch! lol

Right I'm back!!!!!!

Really got side tracked for the last three weeks which is very annoying. However having the PT has been great. Although I have been eating badly I have managed to get two PT sessions in this week after having a bit of a break due to work commitments.

So work really kicked off and my resolve on the weight loss front crumbled. However I am looking at my weight loss as a journey that does not end when I fail and then start again. Rather it is a journey which keeps on going this time until I get to my target weight.

PT put me through a fitness test last night. He timed four sets of the following exercises :

7 Raised Pressups using TRX system

5 shoulder lifts using kettle ball

20 two armed swings using kettle ball

10 ankle touches

5 press ups

5 burpees

10 step ups on each leg

7 medecine ball throughs

The plan is to time me again in 2 weeks to see if there has been an improvement. I was completely ruined at the end of it. I was on my knees, literally. Well I suppose at least I now know where my fitness is and hopefully will see an improvement.

Have decided that I need to do something with my diet. I am finding it very difficult to calorie count at the moment. I have always liked the idea of a lunch box type diet ie graze on the same meal for the day. However I have head some good things about the durkan diet. I have also heard some bad reviews but having read Durkans book this week and researched it quite a bit, I have decided to give it a go because I need a structured plan.

So the diet requires me to go ten days eating only pure protein foods. Extreme but I like the idea of seeing some results. Today is my first day. For breakfast I had two boiled eggs and two slices of turkey.

Plan is to keep this diary updated each day during the initial ten days (which is then followed by another protein diet with the addition of veg). I have no excuses as for the next ten days I know exactly where I will be on the work front and do not have anything big planned with friends.

Wish me luck!!!
