Hey. New here. My name's Alan Meltzer and i've just finished my first year at uni (age 20). Throughout summer i'll be working 9-5 monday to friday so will lack motivation to exercise and eat well so i decided to join here, hope it helps.

I weigh 14.6 stone (93kg) and by september 17th would love to be 13 stone which I believe is achievable. I'm around 5ft10.

I'm not going to do any extreme weight loss techniques, just eat well and go running 5 days a week, no exceptions.

I would quite like some form of punishment if either a) i eat badly or b) don't run 5 times a week. But im not sure what that could be, so any ideas would be grateful :D

Just had my first run of the summer. Felt very good!

Bit about diet -

As I said nothing too extreme. No bread. No red meat. No chocolate/sweets. Just in general no bad foods.

Porridge for breakfast, chicken salad wrap/tuna salad for lunch and Jacket potato with tuna/chicken and rice/ tuna and wholemeal pasta.

I'll try not to drink too much but I will have a few nights out throughout summer where I will drink. Just nothing during the week.

I'm doing a philosophy degree and plan to choose a famous philosopher every week and study him during the week at work then every sunday (starting 24th June) write a brief 500 word summary on him. Just wondering if anyone would be interested if I posted it on here to give this thread some added interest?

More people who view this thread = more weight i lose

Welcome aboard, Alan! Nice start!

As for the wanting ideas as punishment... surely failure is punishment enough? :p KNOWING that you haven't done your best and that you've screwed yourself over is never a nice feeling!

I suggest you look into thinking about counting calories, and make sure you're getting enough for your BMI, plus the fact you're exercising. The biggest mistake most people seem to make is not eating enough, and so the body starts hanging onto calories and it's all very counter productive. Maybe google a calorie counter and work out how much you SHOULD be eating every day! :)

Will be following your thread! Keep up the good work so far!

Thanks Sarah.

Ye it's just I've tried dieting in the past and my main issue is lack of motivation so thought I might need an extra incentive. However, I was speaking to a friend today who is also trying to lose weight and we've decided to have a little wager. Nice little added monetary incentive :)

This morning I had natural yoghurt with melon.

Lunch, quorn chilli with couscous (which i've realised seems to be a lot less calorific than rice)

Dinner, a ham salad wrap.

As it's Father's Day we went to the pub but I only had one pint (around 230 calories) and also a glass of brandy lol not sure of the calories in that.

Earlier I also went on a 30 minute run which felt good.

So not the best of days but was Father's Day and a Sunday so was never going to be great.

Hopefully get into a routine tomorrow for the week at work.

Sup!

So today I overslept and didn't eat breakfast :S this didn't help my diet for the day. At 10 I had 2 chicken wraps. Then at 3 I had a chicken baguette :S.

For dinner though I had a small jacket potato with tuna and sweetcorn which will be pretty standard for the coming weeks.

I also went on a late evening run which was nice, but I kind of hurt my back doing it which hopefully won't stop me running.

That was my day!
