Day 1- 284.6 lbs.

Hi, I'm starting my diet today. I've been overweight most of my life and graduated high school at 225 -235. Throughout collge I've fluctuated (mostly up). I got down to under two hundred a little over three years ago(very briefly:). In the past two years I've blown up from 235 to a very rotund 284.6 lbs. Thats 50lbs from an already chunky frame. My goal is to lose 94 lbs. I want to get down to 190. That is my goal. I'm not in a rush, Just wanted to hold myself accountable with this thread. Here we go.

This is my beginning fatitude:

How do you add the ticker at the bottom? I've created it and tried saving the codes to my signature and it doesn't show up.

Ok, now it's showed up. It's not showing my original weight though

Ok duh, I guess i figured it out. Thanks for the support folks

Thanks, Do I have a plan? Not really, I'm just going to begin by getting my calories down A LOT and doing 30 mins + daily excercise.

So far today I've had 1100 calories. Gonna try to keep it down to under 1500 for the day. Btw anyone have a suggested diet calorie intake for a 5'11" Male?

1500 is probably going to be a little low with your current weight... especially if you plan on doing any working out...

Day 2. 282Lbs

I ended up eating around 2000 calories yesterday but still managed to lose two pounds. Mostly water weight I'm sure. But still feels good.

2000 is probably a better starting point than 1500 - we can't say it enough around here - dropping calories too low is never beneficial in the long run.. .way to go ont h 2lb drop

Hey Stuco!
Thanks for commenting on my diary! I just joined last week and this forum has already helped me soo much with motivation!
If you go to this page and click on the bright blue link in the middle of the page, then fill in your info, it will tell you how many calories you need. Good luck!

if you dropped 2 lbs already then that must mean that the 2000 calories are working for you :) just make sure youre drinking loadsa water.
2000 sounds like a lot but it really isnt that much for someone of your height and size particularly as youre male aswell. for me (5ft2 16yr old girl) my calories are 1700 for fat loss - although i train for running at least an hour everyday. but youre working out too. so dont go too low else your body will go into starvation mode and the weight loss will stop.
good luck with your journey ! :D

Make sure you are drinking your water. It Will help in numerous ways.

How old are you? If you are old enough, you could join sparkpeople.com to help track calories, fat/protein and carbs and make sure you are getting enough of each and not too many of one or another.

Welcome aboard and keep this journal going. I have found it has helped me so much!!! It's great that I found this place and you too! I hope you find it as welcoming as I have!!!

Good luck on your journey as attaining and maintaining your health is not a destination, it's a lifelong commitment!!

I'm 22, yes I'm drinking my water. thanks

Day 3

280 Lbs.

This forum is definately helping me keep on track. Thanks for all the support guys.

Wow, 4.6 lbs? That's great.. I think. Are you getting in enough calories etc?

Your calories should be pushed up a bit if you are staying under 1500

Based on a post by Steve, one of the smarter people about nutrition and exercises around, he says you should take your weight and multiply by 15 (cals/lb) so. 280*15 = 4200 and then multiply by 15% =630, 4200-630= 3570 for daily caloric needs. If you are going under 3000 you are probably WAYYY too low. Your body will go into Starvation and start hoarding the food you are giving it and the losing will eventually stop and you'll do major damage to your metabolism.

It's actually 3.8lbs lost.(I just started rounding)
Thanks for your concern. Yesterday, I did zero excercise and took in about 2300 calories. Didn't feel hungry all day. In fact I felt like I might have eaten too much.

Welcome Stuco! You're doing great!

On the whole goal calories thing, 2300 sounds pretty reasonable to me. Listen to your body - it will tell you that you are hungry before you go into starvation mode.
