Chuckroast:
My internet sense is that you are a troll. And not a very good one at that.
That being said:
1: If it has taken you from the early 90s to now to figure out that you need a caloric deficit to lose weight, you aren't very bright.
Actually, when is was a just a pup I believed that fat people got fat from eating a few extra calories every day over a long period of time. That is waht fat peole were saying so I believed them. When I looked into how metabolism worked I realized that they eat huge amounts of food. Many fat people think they get fat be just eating a little extra or they believe that some mysterious glandular disorder is why they are fat. Sometimes fat people need to be told the obvious. Denial causes them to believe that fat gene thing, the slow metabolism thing, the medication made me fat thing, the diabetes made me fat thing ect ect ect. I know what the exercise and diet gurus ramble on about and even though what they say is true, it is not working for most fat people. The common sense advice of of eat less move more doesn't work on most fat people because most fat people have other issues. If it were as simple as you think it is most fat people would be able to easily lose weight and keep it of but in reality most do not lose weight and the ones that do do not keep it off. If you want to be in denial about that fact set be my guest.
2: Your 'tailored' advice in the last 5 pages of threads comes down to: "If you understand that there needs to be a caloric deficit to lose weight than once you know your TEE for the day, all you need to do is eat below that number. If you aren't, there is a psychological/behavioural issue involved."
I am not giving diet advice. If someone is unable or unwilling to comply with eating food in the correct amounts on a regular basis then they problem is one of behavior. Telling them to eat less and move more is an exercise in fulility. They will often lie or deny the facts concerning their over eating and laziness and they will play the fat gene, slow metabolism, or medication game. It is part of their circular thinking patterns. If they cannot get past the self delusion they will not move more and eat less. They may think they are training like a Trojan and they may think they are eating like a Spartan but in reality their distorted perception allow them to believe thing that are wildly untrue.
Thank you Captain Obvious. However, your blithe statements do not offer how to find your TEE (and your factual assessments of a few people here, especially Blancita, are completely off). You do not suggest meaningful methods to adjust behaviour minus 'just doing it'. You do not delve into nutritional info that allows a caloric deficit to be easier to attain. You don't mention anything about body composition in relation to weight.
Blantica is about to fail. She is making claims that cannot be true. Her metabolic rate has not stalled. Do you think it has? It hasn't. She is on the verge of sabotaging her weight loss.
Nutritional advice can me summed up in one short para graph; eat nutrient dense low calorie food in the correct amounts everyday for the rest of your life. If you do not know what those foods are then google low cal nutrient dense foods.
The idea that certain food help you burn more calories is really rather stupid. There are food that "speed" up your metabolism but speeding up basal metabolism only makes living things die sooner. The diet sellers throw that around like it is gospel truth and they exaggerate the effect of the potions they sell.
If a person is unwilling to eat veggies, fruits, whole grains lean dairy and lean protein then all the nutritional advice on the planet is a waste of time for them. Fat people love to talk about nutrition because it allows them to talk about their favorite subject, food. By giving them recipe ideas and making meal suggestion you will only reinforce the basis of their problem. They need to think less about food and its gratification and more about why they seek that gratification. IMO it is in part neurological. Fat people are very self indulgent. Watch Brookhaven if you doubt that. They full of all sorts of excuses and rationalizations and unless that thinking is confronted they will continue to over eat and be lazy.
Someone on this thread said raw vegetables were nasty. What he should have said is "I need to start liking raw vegetable because they are good for me." Instead he was more concerned about his gormandizing than his health. He needs an attitude adjustment.
My guess? You're an amateur hack who read an article on the internet that really inspired you and you went looking for a forum to share this epiphany and to feel important at the same time. Am I right?
