Stickin' to it

Thanks for visiting my diary - looks like you have begun to clean the eating up - much like I have.

For sure you would be able to run 5 or 6 miles by the end of the year... at one point last summer I was running about 45 minutes inside, then 45 minutes outside a few times (walking home after doing much of the course), then I just decided based on my course that I would complete the whole course - which took about 75 minutes! And really, it was not the cardio that was the problem, just more concern of injury etc. Do you have a specific program you are on to get to 6 miles or so?

Hey Tash, just dropping by to wish you not only a happy Wednsday, but a happy weight loss week! Hope you're doing well, chica!! Big hugs!

Thanks everyone for stopping by. I really appreciate all of your support.

Today has been a hectic day so far and will continue to be for the remainder of the day. I met with my poetry professor yesterday and am entering 3 of my poems into a contest for the Academy of American Poets from our University. I'm really excited and am sure that I won't win, but I've worked pretty damn hard on these poems and am happy with the outcome.

I am still working on the work in my other class, and had a dental appointment this morning (poor poor teeth). HAHA.

You should never say you're not going to win - you never know!! You could be the next great poet!

156.0 is so GREAT! Congrats to you! (I'm jumping up and down clapping for you...I'm so happy for you!) I know you were up for a while like me. It can get really frustrating...so it's AWESOME your numbers are going down. Send some weight loss vibes my way!

Mmm...bahama mama.... :biggrinjester:

Wow is right. 156 is awesome. You will be to your goal before you know it. It's going to be great. That's cool that you like to write poetry. My mother was way into that. She even had one of her poems published in a book once. Never say never, I bet you will win ;)

I've seen the infomercials on that P90x. It looks pretty hardcore. I remember doing the original Power 90 a couple of years ago with my brother and thinking it was tough. BTW, how are you legs feeling? Any better?

Have a great day,
Sam:)

Thanks, Jamie! We'll see how these 3 submissions turn out and we'll go from there. There are a lot of great aspiring creative writers in my class and sometimes I feel down at the bottom of the pack. heh.

I'm definitely sending some weight loss vibes your way girly!

Sam,
I just did my C25K and they are a little sore. I don't think they are as sore as they have been, but I only did 2 miles today too, so it could be that I didn't work them as much as I did in the past.

The P90X is pretty intense and the only part of it that hubby and I do is the ab routine. I think they have a stretching routine too that I'm interested in. I'll have to ask hubby where he put all the stuff and find out.

Hope you are doing well!

Tasha

Wow, things are definitely look up! Congratulations on 156! Wish me luck, I'm weighing in tomorrow. Good job on the poetry. Its so exciting. Just being brave enough to submit is a big accomplishment.

Weight Update: 155.8

I'm really surprised about the weight this morning...especially after my dinner. Hubby has been working on my neighbors pc for the last 2 days and they have fed us both nights. So here's is the food update from Wednesday.

Wednesday Food Update:
Oatmeal Squares
1/2 C Skim Milk

2 tbsp organic nat peanut butter
1 tbsp low sugar grape jelly
1 arnolds whole wheat bun

Snack:
1 Fiber One bar

Dinner:
4 medium sized pepperoni pizza slices :toetap05:
1 super mini 3 musketeers chocolate

I had lots of water, and worked out, so I was still down today as far as weight (which surprised the crap out of me), but I'm not happy about the lack of veggies/fruits these last few days.

Exercise: C25K W3D1 training Hard workout..

Thursday Food update:
Kashi Go Lean Crunch
1/2 C skim milk

2 tbsp organic nat peanut butter
2 tbsp low sugar jelly
1 arnold whole wheat bun

Dinner: (the biggie dinner)
Neighbors offered Chinese for dinner
So I had a small amount of the following:
fried rice
chicken lo mein
broccoli chicken
general tso's 2 pieces of chicken
and 1 super mini 3 musketeer

Exercise: 45 minutes treadmill and a daily total so far of 3.12 miles with pedometer reading of .70 miles. So a total of 3.82 miles so far today.

I'm not sure if we'll make it to the gym, but I hope we do, I love doing the lower body workout although tonight is also an abdominal night :banghead:

Yes!! Another 0.2 lost is AWESOME!

Thanks for the skinny vibes! I'm down 0.4 this morning!! (not much - but hey, I'll take it!)

Wahoo Tash!! Look at you, your weight is still low!! Wow, chica, I'm SO IMPRESSED right now. You're just turning into a lean machine! You go girl!

Weight Update: 156.0

I'm so happy my weight didn't skyrocket after the last 2 days, but I'm a little confused as to how things are working.

I'm wondering if I may not be eating enough on regular days when I'm exercising if I'm able to eat pizza and a plate of chinese and still be around the same weight or even drop a little.

So, I'm going to definintely pay more attention to this matter. I have to clean my house and get a grocery list together because it's been way too long since I've had some real groceries in my house.

Also, tonight, I'm thinking will have to be a Full Body workout, so I need to figure out which body parts I need to work so that hubby isn't totally exhausted after the upper body. He's totally against squats because that's the way Bruce Lee hurt is back while making the movie Enter the Dragon, and he's never liked Deadlifts, but I like doing both in the past, hopefully we can come to a compromise.

Hope you all are having a great Friday. I know mine is awesome so far. =)

Did he hurt his back with just regular squats and no weights? Or with weights? Either way maybe Bruce Lee wasn't doing them right?

So do you and your dh workout together? My dh and I do sometimes - like I will be on the elliptical and him on the treadmill. But usually I wait until he's finished because he likes watching old star trek shows while working out. And, I laugh at them which annoys him. :hat: When the weather is nice we take bike rides and walks together - usually with minimum annoyances going on. ;)

Yeah, I agree you need to eat WAY more. Chinese and pizza EVERY meal. This way I might have a chance to get a little ahead of you in this weigh loss thing. :D Great work. Keep it going, you weight-loss-machine, you.

It's so awesome to come here and see you've remained at the same weight! I'm proud of you!

Judging your maintenance level is ALWAYS a good thing, especially if you run often. I've realized that no less then two-thousand cals works for me on the evenings I jog. Because I burn off such a significant amount of calories, I need to load up on complex carbs. Hey you know, I bet you us runners could eat a whole pizza and maintain ourselves. Of course, it wouldn't be out of gluttoney, it would purely be because we're starved. LOL.

Upper body workouts feel AMAZING. Even being sore feels awesome. I hope you feel awesomely sore!!

Big hugs, chica!

Hey Rachel, Jamie, Lucious, tyly, everyone who reads and doesn't respond. =)

I hope you are all doing well.

I worked out at the gym Friday night and last night-- full body workouts and was pretty dang sore both times.

I did my C25K run today and then an additional 2 miles or so. Total for today 4miles.

I'll have to start weight tomorrow, not sure what it is and I haven't posted in a few days, ooops. I took a break from the pc. I'm getting annoyed and bored sitting in front of it. I really need human interaction.. sigh.

Hope you all are doing well and hope to get to your diaries while also trying to get to all of this homework and such.

:ack2: I'm feeling pretty energized from the run and 5 minutes in the sauna.. anyone else use a sauna and know the safety stuff on it.. like how long is too long or what time is beneficial?

ok, I'm :auto:

Hey Tash! Welcome back to the interweb! We've missed ya'.

You seem to really be doing well with your exercise regimine. I'm proud of you. I mean look, you've ran 4 miles! That's amazing! I'm actually envious now because I'm currently physically imcompacitated and *can't* run. Great job though, honey. I'm happy for you!

A sauna, huh? That sounds fun right about now. I need heat. It's too dang cold here. I'm not an expert in saunas, but I can tell you that I always recall it not being safe to sit in one for longer than twenty minutes or until you begin to feel lightheaded, nauseas, or dizzy.

Hope you're having a great Monday!

Hey Tasha,

All that working out is impressive. I'm planning on starting Week3 Day1 tonite, which means I will have to fight the crowds at my gym (Mon. nite tends to be kinda crowded...)

I have sometimes strained my back a little doing squats, especially when I was getting maxed out with my trainer. For squats I just use the Smithsonian machine and in some gyms they even have the weight belts you can use with that too. For the few times I haven't been feeling the smith squats I will just do as many as I can with a Swiss ball against the wall and no weight, I just go until it feels like someone is holding a blowtorch on my quads, lol... Deadlifts I do sometimes too. There is this machine at my gym that you can do them on and my trainer always tries to put me on there. I just can't do them properly on that machine. I can't keep my back straight without feeling like I'm going to fall over backwards. My trainer keeps trying to tell me I can and then he does them but he is like 7 inches shorter than me and weighs about 90lbs less...

I don't usually do the sauna. I used to have one in my bathroom at my old house and it was kind of nice. Not sure on the health concerns/benefits with them though, I just remember sweatin' it out:)

Happy Monday,
Sam
