No! That's not a lot.

Don't become one of those women who thinks less is more! Your body needs 1200 calories to maintain basic functions, like breathing and a heartbeat and that pesky thing called staying awake.

When you eat too little, your body doesn't have enough energy (aka calories) to do the job of burning fat! Eventually it will have to use fat to survive but it will take muscle first, and that's called wasting, and that's what sick people do. Are you sick?

Revisit your nutritional topics if necessary to remind yourself what your body needs and what it does not!

No No!! 1024 is only for breakfast and lunch. I haven't had dinner yet.

hey chelsea !!!
so i read about your cauliflower idea!! did u try it yet? cause i did b4 with some boursin cheese and it was amazing!!! i also puree it to fake potatoes nium num

i love reading your journal btw ;)

Things I am proud of today:

Went to the gym, finished rowing even though it was sooo hard and took forever.
We went to CVS to get some things and I walked down the candy aisle... wanted to buy something chocolatey so bad but I didn't.
Cooked a meatless dinner, even though for some reason I was really craving restaurant food (probs bc my parents were just here and we ate in a restaurant... i forget how luxurious it is to have someone else cook for you!)

Another week begins tomorrow... hopefully the scale won't be as devastating as I think it will be. Also: I got my period today (kind of). I decided to stop taking my BC pills, because I have been on them for cysts on my ovaries since I was 14 (aka 9 years). I think that i had irregular periods and that I got cysts because I was so overweight for a lot of my life. Now that I am getting out of that, I want to see if my body can be normal and healthy on its own. They told me I had PCOS when I was little, but I never believed them. So it's been about a full month since my last period, so it's about right that I'm getting it now. We'll see! But to be fair, for my weigh-in tomorrow, I will take into consideration that I am bloated and visiting with Aunt Flo.

LOVE THIS...we should all make an attempt to do this at least once a week..we are way to hard on ourselves...and don't give ourselves credit for our successes..we love to support each other.....we need to start being our own cheerleaders too!!

BTW..I think you are doing great and it must have felt wonderful to hear such nice words from your mom :)

Ah! I haven't tried it yet. I have been trying to put away a lot of money each month to replace the money I spent on the Mexico vacation, so my grocery budget was reduced.. we're still eating healthy, I just didn't go on a big trip this week. Next week I will though and I'm definitely going to get some cauliflower and try it. I have this old antique metal ricer that I bought at a vintage store a long time ago, mostly because I thought it would look cool hanging on the wall, but now that I have a chance to actually USE IT, I am so pumped lol. I love kitschy vintage kitchen stuff...

and thank you! I love reading yours too!!! It makes it feel like you are not alone, when you see that other people struggle with the same things. I remember always thinking that everyone else was just skinny without trying and they could eat whatever they wanted... not so!!!! I don't know why people don't realize that we all have the same problems and cravings and missteps... and that we can help each other get through them!!!

Had a Dr.'s appt yesterday! She said my results so far are amazing and that my skin is contracting really well. She even asked me if I had lost weight! I told her 16lbs and she couldn't believe it! She was really pleased. I don't have to go back until the beginning of October which is nice because the office is like a 90 minute drive from my apt.

I didn't do so well with the small meals thing yesterday... I had my big bag of food that I brought for the three mini meals, but I ended up eating one mini meal, and then two hours later I ate everything else. I still ate the same amount of calories, I just DID NOT feel satisfied with my first small meal. As soon as I ate the first part, string cheese and almonds, for the next two hours all I could think of was eating the rest of my food. Until finally I was annoyed with it and I just ate everything else. Then I was content for the rest of the day. So I will have to work on that. I still haven't bought protein powder.. I tried to last night but the GNC near our house was actually out of business. I will find another one.

Things I am proud of today:
-NONE of my work pants fit. They are all at least 2-3 inches too big in the waist.
I tried on a tight-fitting skirt today (high-waisted) instead of work pants, and it didn't fit... too big! either. So I am going to get some interim still-chubby-but skinnier-than-before pants after work.
-A retired Marine LtCol that I work with called me "skinny bones" yesterday. :D He used to ask me when I excersise (PT - physical training) and stuff when I was fatter, and I felt like he was trying to motivate me to make a change. (Marines are really into being fit and healthy for duty, but also appearances). Hellooooo change!
-Yesterday I got home from my Dr. appt around 730pm after I stopped and got a rotisserie chicken (healthy without the skin) and I was STARVING!!!! I had two tacos with lots of fresh veggies and a measured amount of cheese WITHOUT THINKING. And after they were gone, I didn't think about going to get more.... I kind of just subconsciously accepted that it was all I was getting and I felt FULL!!!! IT'S HAPPENING YOU GUYS!!!!!
- I weighed 155.6 this morning. I haven't weighed that much since the beginning of my senior year of college when I cut out all carbs and worked out for 3hrs per day, every day. IT'S TAKING LONGER THIS TIME, BUT IT'S HEALTHIER AND I AM NOT MISERABLE OR FEELING DEPRIVED!!! I could even have a beer if I wanted it (I don't, but still!))))!!!!!

I'm going to start tracking protein as well. I'm not so interested in fat and my carb intake is already fairly low in comparision to what most people eat.

Breakfast -

2 servings multi-grain cheerios - 220 (4g protein)
1 cup skim milk - 90 (8g)

B total - 310 (12)

snack 1 -
string cheese - 80 (8)
yogurt - 120 (16)
Lunch -
big bowl of mixed salad greens- 20 (1)
half a tomato - 15 (1)
chicken - 125 (21)
dressing, 1 serving - 40
carrots - 30 (.5)

snack 2 -
string cheese - 80 (8)
almonds, 12 - 80 (3)

lunch and snacks - 590

day total so far: 900 exactly! (70.5)

dinner was kind of a not-dinner dinner. My BF just got braces so his mouth is really sore. So I made smoothies, and they were DISGUSTING. I used soy protein and it tasted like sidewalk chalk. I didn't even finish my glass; I had to choke it down.

I'm going to estimate that I had 200 cals worth of smoothie. It was mostly blueberries and light and fit yogurt with skim milk. But that chalky taste just overpowered everything. So now I'm munching on 35 cals of carrots and 1tbsp peanut butter, and I will probably have 2 string cheeses just to bring my cals up...

smoothie (bleh) - 200
carrots - 35
peanut butter - 100
2 string cheeses - 160

dinner total - 495

day total - 1395

had some sugar free pudding.. 30cals

day total:1425

now off to buy new work pants, get some protein mix and hit the gym!

Bought BSN's Dessert mix (Brent says it tastes really good) and went to an hour and 45 mins of yoga.

You must share the secret of how you had all those foods and only ate 395 calories for the day!!!!!!!:rotflmao::rofl:

Just kidding!

I love the feeling of putting on clothes that are looser! My work pants are starting to do this. I think in a few weeks I'll have to make another hole in my belt so they stay up!

Sorry the smoothies didn't work out. I remember when I had braces I lost a bunch of weight just because my teeth always hurt and I couldn't eat very much beacause of that. But that was a long time ago, and I'd rather lose weight this way than go through that again!

haha I know, I came back and saw that... but ate some pudding so it's 495 now!! LOL.

Went shopping for pants yesterday, because while I was at work the pair I was wearing LITERALLY fell off of me. Luckily it was in the bathroom LOL. So I went to TJ Maxx and got three pairs of pants from the limited in... SIZE 8! My pants that I was wearing up until this point were TWELVES!! Well, one pair was an 8 and the others are 10 but still... i have only worn an 8 in pants one time in my life, about two years ago... YES!

I am so excited for all of us because we are making so many good changes!

Great job on the 1lb loss! Your gym workout is awesome, wish I had that kind of determination... and the money to go to a gym, lol!

Yeah, it's not as expensive as I thought it would be. Mine is $30/month, and it includes all the classes. There is a more expensive one, I think $60/month but it has personal training and free massage, which would be sweet but is kind of unnecessary. I just skimp on other stuff... like I stopped going to the gourmet grocery store on weekends to pick up special stuff for dinner and we don't eat in restaurants any more so that saves a lot of money too! But really, you can do so many things at home and outside that a gym is kind of frivolous. It's just what motivates me... packing my little bag and being around other people who are exercising makes me more excited to go. But I also walk and run outside, and every calisthenic can be done outside without any equipment using your own body weight so it's ok not to have one.

Hey Chelsea!! Just read your entire thread!:)
espressowhip has learned me that bananas are no good for me!!haha i have like, one a day eeeeeeeek. Must cut that down i think.
