Stay on track!

I just picked up SELF yesterday..and me and the hubster were swimming and he was telling my about an article he read ....I was like what!! you never read...he said yeah but "Sammy Brady" was on the front and I got hooked...lol.

Haha, is that the most recent one? With the girl from the soap opera and biggest loser on it? I have that one too! There are some cool cards in there for stretching/plank workouts... the pictures of the perfect fitness models are enough to motivate me :)

Hey Chelsea!

I didn't do anything other than my walk at work last night. I woke up and was just so sore from having started running. Plus I was really tired. Like where you live it was super hot. I'm thinking upper 90's, but the heat index was about 116. Why they don't just say it's 116, I don't know, but it was a nasty one.

Congrats on getting your tickets! You will look amazing for your trip! And I agree with you about the "mom mode". I'm not one yet, but am not a crazy partier by any means and would feel weird around girls and people acting like that. lol.

Hope your doctors appointment goes well!

Have a great day!

I know.. it was almost too hot to breathe yesterday. But 116, that is desert-quality heat. I probably wouldn't have walked if it was that hot lol. I don't have any kids either but I was a summer camp counselor for a while for older girls, so I guess I was kind of a mom LOL. I just know that seeing girls who are TOO YOUNG to be in Cancun with crazy "manimals" will make me want to herd them into a safe nest or something haha. Teach them about self-respect or something. I'm sure they wouldn't be too happy to hear about it though.

Are you finding any veggies that you like? Green beans are in season now! And you can mix spinach into just about anything without noticing :)

Ahhh iIn a way i sooo jealous of your trip!!!! not jealous of being beside little fit tummies lol but hey that s just a great motivation to keep going!!!!
I know u ll do great!

I weighed 161 this morning, which is up one lb from yesterday morning. :( but I know it fluctuates so it still makes me happy that 161 is a lot less than 173! we'll see what tomorrow morning brings :)

BREAKING NEWS:

I WEIGHED 159.4 THIS MORNING!!!!

I haven't weighed under 160 in like, two years! I finally did it! Now I have to start being careful, because I've always plateued around 153 or 155. I'm going to have to work hard this week!!!

Literally just woke up and weighed myself, so nothing to report on for the day. But woo hoo!!

Also, some measurements:
waist: 31.5
hips: 40.5
Thigh, L: 24
Thigh, R: 24
Bicep, L: 12.5
Bicep, R: 12.5
Bust: 37.5

I took those with my spandex suit on, but the other day I measured without the suit and the only difference was an additional .5 inches to the waist and hips.

Breakfast:
Homemade english muffin, no butter:
1 english muffin - 110
1 XL egg = 85
1 piece reduced fat american cheese - 50
1 piece canadian bacon - 20
1/2 cup non-fat cottage cheese - 80
83g of fresh pear - 50

Total for breakfast: 395

The heat is like a cushion... it won't go away! I think I'm dying.

Went to Brent's new school and walked around for about 45 minutes. It was a slow walk... but it was nice. Then came home and made lunch after running some other errands. I have had the most heinous headaches ever, probably from the heat. It's like I'm constantly sweating.

Lunch:
2 tortillas - 74
chicken - 155
cabbage - 18
grape tomatoes - 10
yogurt -13
salsa -10
cheese - 48
avocado - 65

Total: 393
393 + 395 = 788

1 tbsp gatorade powder before the gym: 50

Day total: 838

I think I'm getting better at portion control; my meals are all around the same amount. With the help of the scale, of course :)

Update: Went to the gym. Did the elyptical for 33 minutes, then did bi's and tri's, four different exercises four times. I was there from 545-700.

Now we're making dinner but I"ll update that after we're done eating.

Update:

Had the same thing as last night, with some extra sides:

pasta - 200
sauce - 80
lima beans on top of salad - 55
alfredo sauce i added to the pasta - 50
mixed salad w/ tomatoes & cabbage - 50
broccoli & cheese - 60
dressing for salad - 30

meal total: 525

might have some sugar-free pudding with strawberries or blueberries :) will add it later.

had the dessert... 1/2 cup sugar free white chocolate pudding (70) with 50 cals of blueberries - 120

day total: 1483

Are you finding any veggies that you like? Green beans are in season now! And you can mix spinach into just about anything without noticing :)

I haven't tried any new vegges lately. Been focusing on new types of fruit. Been finding some that I really like.

Congrats on getting into the 150's!!!!! You're like my motivation beacon, lol. I see you succeeding and I just know I can do it!:hurray:

Great job!

So, unfortunately I weighed in this morning (it's a ticker day!) and I was back up at 160.4. But still a big accomplishment. I know I go back and forth by a pound quite often and I feel like there is nothing I can do about that. But I will persevere! Next Monday that ticker will be down, down down into the 150's. We had pasta last night so I think that might be why. I woke up really thirsty and drank a lot of water around 3am, so that could have something to do with it also. Oh well! I will get there :) Slow but steady wins the race.

Breakfast:
Homemade english muffin sammie, no butter
Muffin - 110
Egg - 85
Cheese - 50
Canadian bacon - 20
cup of skim milk - 90

Total: 355

Lunch will be ~1 cup of left over sloppy joe from last week, with no bread, and a chobani vanilla (vanilla has the least calories - 120), blueberries (50). Still need to figure out the calories in the ground turkey sloppy joes. I ate it earlier in a different post so I will have to look at that and deduce my intake.

We are going to say the sloppy joe meat and sauce (homemade - no sugar or oil. Mostly mustard, tomato paste, vinegar, worsctershire (sp?) sauce, salt and pepper) and one patty, which is about how much ground turkey I have, is about 200 cals. So to be safe, I'll say that it's 250 cals for the sloppy joe insides. No bun though.

So 250 + 120 + 50 = 420
420 + 355 = 775

This week is going to be super busy, as I have an appointment for "Big Sisters" mentoring orientation on Wednesday night, but I've already laid out plans to bring my workout stuff with me and hit the gym on my way home from the orientation. I never would have done that before I started posting on this forum!!! It motivates me so much. We also have a vet appointment for our cat on Thursday night after work, so we will have to figure out what we'll do then. I might just go for a long run/walk when we get home. It's FINALLY COOLED DOWN here. Hallelujah. I woke up last night and we have a window fan with a lighted display of the temp, and it said 67. It was glorious.

Happy healthy eating today guys!

Went for a 2 mile walk at lunch, came back and jogged down the street to a grassy patch (shortest jog ever but it counts!) and I did 20 walking lunges, 50 "swimmers" (where you raise opposite leg and arm while your stomach is on the ground), and 20 bench lifts (where you act like you are sitting in a chair with your hands behind you on a bench, and then lift your self up and down), and I did three sets of those three exercises. Then I jogged back! All in all about 45 minutes of PT. Will go to the gym later tonight! Ow owwww!!!

Dinner:
1 serving potatoes in sauce (frozen) - 200
1tbsp greek yogurt - 13
1 serving meatless chx nuggets - 180
steamed spinach, no oil or butter - 10
sauteed veggies, in Pam - 40
1 tbsp BBQ sauce - 35
dessert: sweet cherries - 168

646
646 + 775 = 1421

Jogged/walked to the gym after dinner (in the rain!!) and got there in time for one and a half hours of yoga. I'm so weak... yuck. I couldn't do some of the poses. But I tried my hardest. And that's all I can ask! All in all, walked about 4.7 miles today, plus the 90-minute yoga sesh. Now for a shower and bed. :) goodnight!

Have to write about this website I found yesterday - Google "skinny vs curvy" - it's a blog dedicated to pictures of models and there is a column to the left with blue hyperlinks. Choose the one that says "celebrity measurements". ZOMG! You can see pictures of all these models who are either super skinny or "curvier" and they post the measurements taken from the Fashion Model Directory. It is so motivating to see how pretty the girls who have measurments similar to mine (waist 32/hips 41ish) and how BEAUTIFUL THEY LOOK! And then to see the ones who have my goal measurments (waist 29/hips 39 or 40) and to see what they look like. I'm not too interested in the super skinny models, because #1, although they are beautiful I feel like the "curvier ones" are healthier and more realistic-looking, and #2 God did not give me the natural body shape of those girls, so it might be wishful thinking to want to look like a VS model (no boobs!). It's kind of eye opening to see my measurments on another person. Because I look at their pics, and I think wow, so beautiful, but I look in the mirror and I see all of these things that "need to be worked on" or aren't good enough for me.

WHY ARE WE SO HARD ON OURSELVES!!??!??!?! IT MAKES ME CAAAARAAAAZYYYY!!

According to the BMI calculator, I will be in a healthy range when I weigh 152. 9 more lbs!!!! I can do it!

Also, new way of tracking progress - I've set some mini goals for myself. It basically starts off with me losing 5lbs per month through December, and then 4lbs per month after that until the end of February. I feel like this will help me gauge my success and give me something small to work for. I know I've lost a lot of weight this month, but I feel like it has a lot to do with my surgery. I'm sure most of it is from my own eating habits and exercise habits, but the surgery has given me a big boost of motivation and determination. We shall see if that carries through the coming months. Either way, in the past I have always gotten stuck between 153 and 155, so that is why I have the decreasing numbers as the months go on, and why I have changed my numbers from something drastic, like this month's 13, to a more realistic and reachable 5. Of course I will continue eating the way I am and exercising the way I am, but I don't want to set lofty goals, based on this month's progress, that will cause be to become deflated and beaten if I don't reach them.

31 Aug - 154
30 Sep - 149
31 Oct - 144
30 Nov - 140
31 Dec - 136
31 Jan - 132
29 Feb - 128
Then reevaluate and either keep losing or maintain!

And the end of each month I will see if I have beaten my goal. If I haven't, I will reset my schedule and make do with that. But HOPEFULLY I will exceed each goal and make the progressing month's a little more encouraging! Before I wanted to be at 140 for my vacation, but I think after seeing the weight fall off this month, 130 is also an attainable goal for March.

Onward and upward, my friends!

You're doing great Chelsea, keep it up! 9 more pounds and you'll have a healthy BMI! That's amazing, I'm so proud of you!

My knee is so much better today. The heating pad definetly helped a lot last night. I'm attributting the knee pain to not taking my arthritis pill until late afternoon. And like I said, the weather probably wasn't a big help either.

Hope your day is going great!

ouuu I think it s a good idea to start mini goal chart!!!

I think i m gonna start the same on my diary :p thanks for the idea

it s ok if u went up a little :p i did too ha ha told ya we r in sink lol
but your doing great and i m rooting for ya chika

I am so proud of you too...a healthy BMI is a very big deal...after that it is all icing on the cake..or I guess in all our cases..plain yogurt on the celery stick...haha..GOOD JOB!! Keep it up!! that BMI is with in your reach!! :)

Thank you for all of your support! I will go around and see what you guys are up to throughout the day.

Unofficial weigh-in today, 159.6, with my garment on, which weighs about .4lbs. But that is unofficial so we will have to wait until next Monday :)

Woke up absolutely STARVING. Raced around the kitchen getting breakfast ready and started eating it on my way to the table. Had:

Homemade english muffin sammie, no butter -
Muffin - 110
Egg -85
cheese - 50
canadian bacon - 20
1/2 cup non-fat cottage cheese - 80
blueberries - 50
water - 0

Breakfast total: 395

For lunch today:
cantalope - 122
1 serving penne pasta - 200
1 ladle of leftover meatless sauce, plus a little extra - 100
3oz baby carrots - 35

Lunch total: 457

Day total so far: 852

I am SO SORE TODAY. My legs are sore from lunges on my own at lunch time, then at yoga we did a ton of lunge poses and stuff. My arms are sore from the day before that (triceps). I am being a whiny baby today. I was super tired when I woke up too. Sometimes I wish I drank coffee. I also didn't really feel very motivated yesterday to go for a walk to the gym, but I did it anyways. EVEN THOUGH my boyfriend was like, I don't think I'm going to the gym today... and usually the fact that both of us are going is more motivating than if it's just me. So I was like, well... who will pick me up from the gym? I thought you wanted to lose weight? And then he was like.. well.. okay. but I'm only doing cardio. LOL. I'm glad I can get him going. But I'm going to pay extra attention to the fact that it seems like I was losing steam yesterday.

Question to anyone who reads this: Do you take rest days from exercising? I'm talking all excerise - because I might take a rest day from the gym or something, but I'm still going to get out for a walk every day. But does anyone nix exercise totally for one day? If you do, is it planned, like, every Saturday you don't exercise? Or is it more of a thing where you go with how you feel? If you do pick a day off to rest, do you reduce your calorie intake more for that day? I am kind of scared to take a day off, because I know before when I have taken a day off, it turns into 14 days off.

Dinner:
Had a big dinner.. a big healthy dinner. I have been so hungry lately. SO HUNGRY.

shrimp - 130
peanut oil - 119
2 corn tortillas - 110
1 flour tortilla - 80
purple cabbage, bell pepper, onion, mushroom, sauteed, no oil - 40
yogurt - 3 tbsp - 39
salsa - 20
cheese - 100

Meal total - 638

I thought that dinner would be way more... it felt like I ate a million calories. I started out with two tortillas and filled them, and then I was like, SHOMYGAUD I am still so hungry. So I made another one. And ate it. And it was delicious.

Total for the day: 1490
add: 110 for sugarfree pudding with strawberries :)

1600

After I updated this, we walked about 1.5 miles round trip to the drug store to run an errand. When I got back, I flipped thru Hulu on the xBox and found "The Situation's" workout DVD. So I was like, this guy sucks but I'll do it anyways because he's really fit. So I did half of one (they're only 15 minutes) and it was really good! I did the upper body one. I didn't have weights with me, because they were in my car, but I just went thru the motions and I could tell it was a good workout. He's also kind of entertaining/funny. I stretched for about 20 minutes before we went on our walk too... so I took it pretty easy yesterday, but I was so sore and exhausted feeling that I think I deserved it!

I never intentionally take a day off. But then I don't need to because I'm not disciplined enough to do something every day!

I think it's a good idea to change your routine. Taking a break from the gym and doing something else would use different muscle groups.

I do take rest days off. It seems for me I have them if I'm more sore than normal. One day last week I didn't run because I was just way too sore. I could hardly roll out of bed. But I did still walk later that night. I'm just getting in the habit of running everyday and if I don't my day just feels out of wack. I make sure I do some kind of activity everyday.

So I asked my fiance if he'd like to run the 5k with me. lol. He said no, he's not the running type. Walking is his fastest pace! lol But I got my best friend to run with me, so I'm pretty excited!

Good morning!

Breakfast:
Homemade english muffin sammie -
english muffin - 110
XL egg - 85
cheese - 50

Leftover sauteed cabbage, onion, bell pepper - 20
cheese - 80
2 tortillas - 110
grape tomatoes - 20
lima beans , 1/4 cup - 50
1 chobani vanilla - 120
20 peanuts - 120

Total - 520
Day total after lunch: 862

Going for a walk/run after lunch, then going home to make dinner (pulled frozen chx drumsticks out of the fridge today... will probably cook them in the dutch oven, skin removed) then I have my meeting for big sisters. It will be a busy night... hopefully I am motivated enough to workout! My meeting goes from 7-9, and 9 is usually the time when I start getting ready for bed!!!

Positive thing from today: I weighed 159.8 this morning! Second morning in a row I have been in the 15x's!! So it must be happening then :)

Dinner:
1 serving linguine - 200
1 skinless chicken leg - 160
tomato sauce, homemade - 80
1/4 bell pepper - 10
1/4 cup mozzerella cheese - 80
1/4 onion, small - 10
1.5 tbsp peanut oil - 180
1/4 tomato, spinach - 10
water

Dinner total: 730

Day total: 1592

Going to my meeting and then going to the gym afterwards. I haven't been feeling very motivated or inspirational today so I feel like I'm going to be trudging through my workout. :( But I will still do it!!!!

Someone in my office just put a big chocolate cake on my desk for everyone to eat. Must resist. Resisting. Resisting. I can do this. Stay tough!!!

Ugh.. I am a bad person. I didn't go for a walk today. I was pretty busy and everyone said it's really hot outside...

Things I am proud of today:

did not eat chocolate cake - AND YES, it is still sitting in front of me.

Things I am not proud of:
I knew that I was going to be busy tonight and I didn't excercise on my lunch break. I will pay for it later :(

I am also going off of my water pill, so I REALLY HOPE it doesn't send my weight soaring. Please please please let my weight stay the same (or lose!) for tomorrow morning. It would be so depressing to balloon up because of no more Rx.

Hi, I take 2 rest days per week, or more if my body needs it. To me, rest is very important. Its also keeps me eager to work out.
