Stasia Gets Skinny

Trusylver- Haha, yes. Better to be overcautious though. I figure I can do around 100 for my daily workouts.

Annev- That's hilarious, knowing exactly how much your wet hair weighs! And it'd be excellent if my system regulated, but I have genetics weighing against me on that.

Appaliq- Gilad is incredible!! Daren't you compare him to that oaf Hasselhoff. The nerve!

Ivette- Thanks for the congratulations! It means a lot to have such a great community supporting me.

Whew! So many new friends already. Thanks guys!

So tonight I had a little training session from the man and I wrote out a plan for my new routine. The bench has attachments to do leg and back work which is INCREDIBLE. I'm so (annoyingly) excited to build my strength and have a whole new world of goals to reach. I feel way too awkward at a gym, so I didn't think I'd be able to do this kind of exercise at all. I love to push myself and there's nothing better than attaining a goal you never thought you'd be able to.

My diet was okay today, though I'm still on the low side calorie-wise. I want to have at least 1200 calories a day to keep my energy up and make sure I get the nutrition I need. That'll be my goal for tomorrow. Off to dreamland, see you in the morning!

Good morning, sunshine!

I think you're excitment must be rubbing off on me. I couldn't wait to jump up this morning and check the weight loss diaries! Although I'm not 100% on board with the whole Sharon Mann-shout, "Feel the burn!" exclamations just yet, I'm getting there. I keep repeating 'smokin' hot' to myself over and over again. My face must be fun to watch. :cuss:

Was woken up early this morning with a phone call from my mom and some great news- my first nephew was born!! Meet Caleb Omar Richardson, my sister's beautiful new baby.

Now I have someone to spoil!

Oh wow, that is fantastic news indeed! And what a gorgeous little baby too!! :) Does he live close to you so that you can spoil him properly? My family are all a 2 - 11 hour flight away :(

Glad to hear you are enjoying the weights too. You have inspired me - I shall try to add an exercise diary to my diary once I recover from this illness.

I replied to you in my diary re. long term ;)

Unfortunately my family is in Ohio and I'm in New Mexico. They're almost 1500 miles away. :( He is a cute baby, isn't he? And he's just a few hours old! Usually they come out all gross and wrinkly. Sorry- I'm not a baby person. :D

I did my first weight workout today and I feel incredible. It was about 40 minutes and no waiting for sweaty people to get off the machines!

Here's what I did- that I can remember. I don't know what a lot of the exercises are called- deal. Haha.

Bench:
65 lbs- 3x10
85 lbs- 3x8
95 lbs- 2x6
100 lbs- 1x4
(And by that last four I was dying)

Quad thingies- 30 lbs- 2x12 (each leg)

Hamstring thingies- 15 lbs- 3x12 (each leg)

Pull down thingies. That bar that looks like /----\ and is attached to a pulley way above your head.
30 lbs- 2x12 (facing away, behind neck)
2x12 (facing away, in front of head)
3x12 (facing bar and scooted back 10 inches or so, pulling towards chest)

Bicep curls 20 lbs+bar (one of those squiggly ones) 1x12 for narrow grip, 1x12 for medium grip
Tricep thingies- 5 lbs each arm 2x12

My chest is sore from yesterday, and I know I'll feel this tomorrow. Lots of stretching for me! Going to eat a banana and granola bar, then do my cycling.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, another pound down this morning! Sweet!

Ended up doing an hour of cardio yesterday in addition to the weights. Made a beautiful dinner of spinach/feta chicken breast rollups and asparagus. I died when I ate it.

This morning, I weighed 175.4!! I love seeing those numbers keep going down. My husband's sick though, so I have to go take care of him. Toodles!

You're doing so well! Adorable nephew by the way. I have two, ages 3 and 2, but they're in Portland, OR and I'm in Indianapolis. Quite a bit away.

I don't think I did anything you wouldn't do last night at the party. Aside from oogling every attractive man in the room (sans boyfriend last night). Tell your sick hubby to get well soon!

Today, I climbed a mountain. Okay, more of a really big hill than a mountain compared to some of the others around, but still a LOT of work. We spent almost two hours navigating this thing, so I'm proud we made it to the top.

Here's the mountain itself. We got to the very tippy top up there.

This is the view from the peak... of another mountain's peak behind it. Gorgeous.

Me at the top! Also gorgeous. Ha.

And closer up. I wanted to use this as a kind of 'before' picture. After I lose the weight, we'll climb up again (much more easily, I'm guessing) and take a picture in the same pose.

Getting outside and hiking was incred. Probably a better workout than I get at home too. I'm sure my legs'll be sore tomorrow!

You know, sometimes I love the desert.

That looks amazing! My kind of workout exactly! Although I do not get to do it very often as I live in the flattest part of the UK now and anyway with two kids..... When we just had my daughter we used to put her in the back carrier and go and we could still do that with the baby now but my daughter is, at 4 1/2, too heavy to carry and not quite at the point where she would walk by herself for such a strenuous trip. Soon, though!

That is so cool, Stasia! And damn, talking about climbing in style. Did you have heels on too with your cute top? ;)

I wish there was something like that to climb here in Indianapolis. We have one large hill, located in the middle of the cemetary. A little too creepy for me!

Haha, it's a bathing suit- wasn't all dolled up for my climb.

So, even though I weigh myself every day, today is my official weigh-in day.

Last Monday, the day before I started this journal, I weighed 179.2. Today, my weight was 174.0! Minus 5.2 pounds! I had pretty much completely forgotten about my birthday goal of 162 by February 16th until last night. Now I'm ready to work my tushie off to keep up my results so I can lose 12 more pounds in three weeks.

I also decided to change the starting weight for my ticker to what I weighed a few months ago. I lost 10 pounds or so then, but soon stopped watching what I ate. I figure that IS my starting weight though, even though it stayed even for a couple months before I restarted trying to lose. I think that seeing how much weight I've actually lost from just a short while ago will also help motivate me to keep it up! I mean, hell- I've lost 17 pounds already. That's awesome.

Today's a beautiful day, so I think I'll take the pups on a walk. I'm in such a positive mood for the day- going to have a blast!

I didn't realize you were at 190! Wow, you're really kicking butt.

What kind of 'pups' do you have? I hope you're referring to the canine sort... :newangel:

Well done on the loss! That is fabulous! Both this week and since you first started.

I thought about changing my ticker too, as I really have been dieting on and off since June to shift first the babyweight and now just general weight. But I figured new year, new beginning and the one advantage with my new ticker is that the marker will move visibly with each pound lost as there is not that much left to lose IYSWIM. So I will keep it where it is. My BMI was 29.something to begin and I aim to get down to 22.5, so similar to you! :) Either way we do the tickers, the pounds will come off!

Did you enjoy your walk??

Thanks Trusylver and scrambledeggs! I've been working hard to get here!

Annev- I like the change in my ticker, because it reminds me that I've accomplished more, and makes me feel like I have it in me to finish. This way, I'm 1/3 of the way to my goal, rather than the 1/5th or so I would be without the extra pounds.

Appaliq- Hahaha, well, those puppies are rough to carry around too, but I was referring to my two dogs. Billie Blanks-Holliday, a Chinese Shar-Pei mix we adopted from the shelter as a puppy. She's now 1 1/2. She's a big girl, but very skinny, with a big wrinkly face and neck. She is pretty timid, and she time travels and likes piles (my husband decided she's a time traveller, and she likes piles because she's from the mountains of China. Hahah, we're weird).

Jay Gatsby (also known as Sanjay Gupta) is a boxer. He looks full, but we adopted him, so we can't know for sure. He was 2 years when we got him, now about 3. He licks the air when he gets excited. He's a little bit fat, but really muscular. Jay has a bad habit of jumping all over us in the middle of the night- he isn't exactly graceful.

...You didn't want to know that much, but I'm obsessed. :)

Anyway, today is my rest day, and I don't really know what to do with myself. Actually, I know exactly what to do with myself, but I'm not in the mood for cleaning. :D Eh, I'll just pry myself off my ass. After I while, I get into it. Poo.

I did all my exercise last night, but I allllmost didn't. I really had to force myself, but I was proud of myself after! I also signed up for Fitday, which I now LOVE!! I realized how much more protein I needed in my diet thanks to their little pie-chart. I got a bunch of eggs and meat yesterday to help me out.

I bought a big bag of Reese's Pieces yesterday too. Not the best choice, but I really needed a pure bad-for-me-snack every once in a while so I don't go crazy. Plus... there's a little protein in peanut butter, right? Haha. Anyway, I bagged 'em up into 100 calorie packs as soon as I got home, and didn't eat a single one. I store them in the freezer, because I don't like my candy that cold- it just kind of shatters into tasteless pieces in your mouth. This way, I have to decide to have a pack and wait a while before I eat it. No making rash decisions, and no binging on 5 packs at a time this way! Hope it works.

I had my first moment yesterday where I looked in the mirror and thought I looked smaller. It's subtle, but exciting. A few days ago, my mother-in-law said I looked like I had lost weight, but she knew I was trying, so I didn't believe her.

I need to poop now. And yes, I'll probably hop on the scale after to see how much it weighed. :rotflmao:

I actually AM interested in your dogs! I've always been an animal lover, and I have a dog myself. Marley (name inspired by my trip to Jamaica - not Marley & Me) is a little over 1 year old. He's a White German Shepherd. Atleast 3/4 purebred, but he's not registered so who really knows. He's on the small side for a shepherd, only about 55 pounds.

Really good plan, freezing the candy! That's genius.

Back to exercising tomorrow- we'll see if I will overcome my first off-day. See, I am always gung-ho when I try to lose weight- for a week or so. As soon as I slip at all, I tend to be GONE. I skip one day exercising, and I use it as an excuse that one more day won't make a difference. Then some extra calories won't make a difference. And before you know it, I'm back to my old lifestyle. No more. I need to acknowledge my weaknesses and just always come back to being healthy. Sure, I'll have a bad day every once in a while, but I can always make it better.

I'm getting up at 7:30 tomorrow, and I'm ready to get healthy.

172.4!!!! Every day I have a loss on the scale, I get motivated to lose even more. Just about 10 more pounds until my birthday goal!

I've done my strength training for today, and I just have my cardio left. I'm in a great mood, and I'm ready to go!

I am getting kind of obsessed with losing weight now, it's all I think about! All in a positive, exciting way though. The way where I use way too many exclamation points. :)

I hit the 20 pound mark today. I can't believe I've lost 20 pounds. Can I just say 20 pounds a few more times??!!? TWENTY POUNDS. And 31 more to go! My ticker is getting to the halfway point faster than I ever thought it would. I am so happy I decided to really get going with my weight loss. I've needed to be healthier for a long time, and doing it when I'm still young is the way to go. I'm a fat burning machine- I just need to give my body what it needs.

I was looking at my body in the mirror this morning, and I felt amazing. Of course I still have a good-sized layer of fat on me, but my silhouette has gotten SO much smoother, even over just the past few days.

So I'm down 20lbs from October, but in the short term, it's between 11 and 14 pounds in 2 1/2 weeks. When I went to the doctor on Jan. 12, I weighed in at 185. I'm not sure how my scale compares to theirs because I didn't weigh myself within a few days. No matter what, I'm absolutely thrilled with my results!

I did all my exercise yesterday, and I'll do it all again today! Back, arms, and cardio. Then I'm done.
