Starting Over

Hey girl! I'm so jealous that you and Kim are meeting up!

When is Sean leaving? I thought it was July 1st, but apparently not. :)

How are ya? Having a good 4th of July weekend, I hope!

Hello ladies! Sorry I've been absent, I've been at the jobsite a whole lot lately.

Here's a little update:

We are having to lower the dose of T3, the weight loss stopped again. Oh well, the doc said it would take awhile to get it right. I am holding at 160-162 depending on water retention. I am still working out like crazy and am changing it up a bit again. I went hiking with my friend Jason on saturday to Pinnacle Mountain () and we took Bella with us. I am so proud of myself, I carried Bella in her Kelty hiking backpack all the way to the top of that damn mountain. That's an extra 30lbs on my back and that's a 3-mile strenuous hike!!! I had multiple people shake my hand amazed that I did that. One guy asked if I would be interested in joining the marines. Lol!! It felt amazing and I burned 1270 calories! I am going to start going hiking there on fridays when I get off work at noon, see if that helps jumpstart the weight loss again on the new dose.

Sean left today for his 6 month training :(. It sucks but I will be keeping busy to make the time go by faster.

Another awesome think happened on saturday night. Sean and I went to dinner with Bella and I had to run into a store for baby tylenol. The manager of the store came up and said "hello gorgeous". While I was checking out he just stood there staring at me. He said "where have you been all my life, you have got to be the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Are you married?" Lol! I said I was and he said "that's too bad, but really, you are gorgeous". Talk about a HUGE boost to my self esteem!!! This is the first big compliment I've gotten since before my pregnancy. I'm still grinning like crazy from it. Lol! Needless to say, it made me feel really awesome for the rest of the night.

That man in the store has excellent taste in women--that's all I've gotta say. :D

Kudos to you for hiking up that mountain with a 30lb baby on your back! :hurray: That is really impressive. Go AMY!!

I take it you didn't meet up with Kim this weekend then? Is that this coming weekend? I'm confused.

Aww...I'm sorry about Sean leaving. :( Will he be back at all for a visit during that time? This has got to be rough on all of you. I don't know how you military families handle all the separation. It has got to be brutal at times. :hug2: I certainly do appreciate the sacrifices that you all make for our country. :patriot:

Hey girl, at least your maintaining your lower weight so that's great!

Nice to be complimented, though I'm not sure why you're surprised since you're a very pretty girl. Pics dont lie!

I used to LOVE hiking, I would regularly go on these 10 mile hikes. I would say 3 miles with a 2 year old on my back equals about that many miles. That's hardcore woman!

Hey ladies! Thanks for the warm wishes and encouragement. I am so damn busy lately, especially with Sean gone. My weight is still the same (160-162) but then again I didn't work out much last week and didn't watch my calories, although I know I never got over 2000/day. This week I am dropping them back down to 1400-1500 and will definitely get my exercise in. Last week was just so crazy that I just took a break from all this. The clinic was closed last week so I was unable to get my prescription for my new dose (thyroid meds) so this week I may have some results with the new dose.

My best friend JD came in this weekend and we went out saturday night and had an absolute blast and drank too much. I am staying off the scale until I get all this water retention off me from all the booze, maybe on saturday. I'm going hiking again on friday after work but by myself (since I get off at noon), I'll pick Bella up afterwards. I want to see how fast I can get to the top of Pinnacle Mountain (3 mile strenuous hike) and how many calories I burn doing it. I will be much faster this time since I won't have 30lbs of baby and backpack weighing me down. I challenged Jason (one who went with me last time) to a race to the top and the loser has to sing karaoke in a local bar and the winner picks the bar and song. I am super competitive so I plan to win this. Lol! He's 34 and in pretty good shape so it will be a challenge. We race in a few weeks.

Well, I better get some work done, today is monday after all. Ciao!!!!!!!

Wow, that hike sounds like a great challenge. Wish I could join ya for the race! Glad to hear you're doing well but busy. Its good to take a break from everything sometimes and 2000 is a reasonable maintenance level, so certainly not going overboard. Your body needs a break every now and then. Cant wait to hear the results of the new med dose. You'll be in the 150's in no time!

Luv ya girlie :)

hey long time no been here! your weight has dropped off since i was gone WTG! that hike sounds good! hope you win...fingers crossed for you sweety. good luck with the new meds. you will be seeing the 150s like Blancita said very soon. have a good week x

The smack talk has begun. Lol! I had lunch with Jason today and he's already talking about how's he gonna beat me. Poor guy doesn't know what he's in for. I have never lost on a hike and don't plan to start now. Hah!

Keeping the calories low this week and plan to get at least an hour and a half of exercise in tonight. My dear friend Bill (from Miami) is coming to visit the weekend of August 8th and I'd like to at least be down 5lbs by then. Gotta kick some major ass from now on...

Girl, you ALWAYS kick major ass. :) Jason will soon find that out when you kick his. :D

Glad you're gonna have fun with Bill this weekend. Keeping busy and laughing will make the time go faster.

Hah! That's right, he's gonna lose! Thanks BB!

Bill will be in august 8th so I am busy planning a fun weekend for us. Bella will be with us part of the time but will be with my mother the rest. I want to take him hiking to Petit Jean Mountain () sometime that weekend, he's very outdoorsy. Plus we're gonna go get some kick ass sushi at Osaka, a local sushi bar that has AMAZING food. There's so much I'd like to show him but don't want to cram too in, he's only here for 2 1/2 days. I can't wait!!

I got 2 hours in at the gym last night, Woot!! The weight was at 162 this morning but I'm retaining fluid so it should go back down. I so desperately want to be in the 150's and damn it I'm gonna get there...

If you keep racing up mountains and working out at the gym for 2hrs a day, I have no doubt that you'll hit the 150s in no time at all.

Ooops...I thought it was this weekend Bill was coming.

good luck on those 5lbs before august and the 150s. hopefully the 150s will come very soon! Have fun when Bill comes. hope you had a good day x

Hi Amy!!!!!!!

Yes, hiking! I hiked Half Dome from the Yosemite Valley floor, and a road was closed so we ended up hiking 19 miles total. I realized I was in good shape because most of my friends were huffing and puffing more than I, and I did really well on the cables up the side (arm strength). Well, my feet slipped out from under me at one point and I was just dangling by my hands like a damn ragdoll on a clothesline and could have fallen to my death BUT I knew I was fine. I just laughed. I like danger! And heights! This is what it looks like:

I hope that you are having a good weekend.

No wonder you are looking forward to your friend's visit. It sounds like you will have lots of fun. I am sure that your weight will be down before he gets there. Water retention messes up weight loss for many of us. I always try to tell myself that we can still burn fat - eventually the water retention stops and when the water disappears the scales can learn about the fat that we have been losing over the previous couple of weeks.

Hey ladies! I did well with the calories last week but not so good over the weekend. :( Sean's schedule changed with the WIC and he was home! We spent saturday running around and shopping (Bella got her first haircut!) then he and I had a really great date that night. We went to P.F. Changs for dinner where we stuffed ourselves then went to see Dark Knight at the movies. We have been waiting for months to see it and it was fantastic (yes, we're both big nerds). I had about 2200 calories that day and then 2000 on sunday (we celebrated Sean's 33rd birthday). Needless to say, the weight didn't budge but that's okay, we had an amazing weekend.

Exercise:

On sunday I mowed the lawn and cleaned the house so I counted that as my exercise. Lol! I was exhausted after being in the hot sun mowing and didn't feel up to hitting the gym. I did however get some running in last night in friggin 100 degrees. It kicked my ass and I was really dehydrated afterwards. I'm gonna hit the gym tonight (where there's air conditioning) and get an hour or two in. Tomorrow I have to drive two hours one way to a jobsite for an inspection then drive back so I will probably just rest when I get home. Thursday I'll hit the gym again and friday I plan to go hiking at PInnacle when I get off work at noon. The hike alone should burn around 1200-1300 calories. Woot!

I am trying to lower my carbs from now on for awhile to help jumpstart some more weight loss. I am shooting for about 100 carbs/day. I would lower them more but I workout so hard I don't want to feel sluggish. Most of these 100 carbs will be consumed by lunch and none after 7pm each day. I hope this will help fuel me throughout the day and through my workouts. We'll see if I need to tweak it any... I loaded up on tons of salad stuff and fish at the market so my evening meals will consist of protein and veggies, nothing more. I gotta get serious about this again, I have been slacking a bit too much lately which is NOT like me at all.
