Starting Over

Three more miles last night. It was so hot and humid I could barely breathe and there was NO BREEZE. Not so much as a leaf stirred. I did burn 400 calories and felt great afterwards. I think I am going to change up my training schedule a bit. M, W, and F I will be running 3-5 miles, T, TH, and Sat I will be running 1 mile for warmup, do weight training at home for 45 minutes and finish off with 15 minutes of jumprope. This will give me Sunday for resting. I run in an area that is all hills and is very tasking. I think I am training myself too hard and want to give my legs and knees a little more rest. Plus overall, I will be burning more calories by the end of the week than I am now.

leg resting is good - they appreciate it when you do that :)

I hope so! My legs are very sore right now and I have done something to my hip. I am finding it hard to sit in my office chair comfortably. I have to sit with my foot up under me just to make it stop hurting. I think it's out od place. Any cure for that?

Due to sliding and whatnot while playing softball, my right hip would get all facked up. My physical therapist showed me a trick that has worked for me til this day... lie on your side (non hurting hip, hurting hip above) on the edge of your bed, raise your left up towards your upper body. (legs forming a right angle "__l") Slowly lower the raised leg so that it's parallel to the floor... you might feel a little pull in your hip... repeat slowly... All I do know that it works for me, so hopefully it will do the same for you. :hug2:

I'm not a fan of chiropractors but if you can find a good one (good luck with that.. :D ) it might help - if not some stretching might help it to... I was having all sorts of trouble with my left hip if I walked too slow for too long...

I'll have to try that when I get home. My left hip hurts like a MF'er and sitting with my leg under me is killing my knee (both knees are jacked up also from basketball in HS). I guess giving birth did something to my hips, I never had this trouble before I was preggers. I think I'' adopt the next one. :)

Yeah, I'm with you on adopting the next one! I love my sweet baby and it was so worth it, but it SUCKED being prego. I hated every moment to be honest. Is that mean to say about the baby? And men always seem to be asking when I'm having the next one, the boy..yeah right!

How're things going with the weight?

Like you said to me in my diary, take it easy on yourself! Be careful of that hip and hope it feels better soon :).

I too HATED being pregnant. The whole nine months was miserable and was concluded with a 23-hour labor.

The weight is back to a standstill after losing 4lbs. I go to the doc on friday for more blood work. He will probably adjust my dose of synthroid.

It's funny, I was sitting here telling the receptionist how bad my hip hurt and it popped really loud. It's back in place so I can now sit properly. WooHoo!

So today the firm brought in management consultants to evaluate our processes. "The Bobs". These guys don't have a clue about architecture. They are asking questions like what is our inventory of "raw goods". Raw goods? We're an ARCHITECTURE FIRM. We design and draw shit. Our inventory consists of paper and writing utensils and occasionally baked goods in the kitchen. So the Bobs ask me, do the partners listen to employee ideas and take them seriously? Yeah, if I someone wants apple pie, they order apple pie. What do the want me to say? Man, the Bobs would freak if they saw what the firm spent on apple pie each year.

Yes, and I'm sure you felt totally 100% comfortable telling The Bobs how the bosses do not listen to employee ideas. Yeah, and here comes the pink slip. Oh, but it was supposed to be confidential! Do The Bobs have a temporary cubicle or office that can be toilet papered? :rotflmao:

So glad your hip popped back into place (OUCH!). Hope the thryoid test comes back OK and the WL keeps up. Sometimes you miss a week and then you lose the following week. Hopefully that'll be the case for you Amy!

Oooh, I wish they did have a cubicle. We wrapped a coworker's cubicle in aluminum foil last week. The Bobs would have loved to know that when they analyzed our productivity. The thing is that my bosses are wonderful. I have zero complaints about my job. Every Christmas we have a huge party, we get fat bonus checks and last year we got ipods in our stockings, the big ones with tons of storage. They pitch in with the pranks and are always buying the office lunch or treats. I don't know why we need consultants. We are one of the most successful and well-known architecture firms in the state. If they want to know how to be more efficient then they need to have an office meeting and we ALL can discuss how this can be achieved.

I hope it's just a week off from the WL. My fingers are crossed!

First I'll get my diet and fitness stuff over with. I did really great with the calories yesterday, only 1475. I got 4 miles in with my daughter in the stroller. I was jogging up this really big hill close to my house that is a real bitch while puching my daughter's stroller and I passed a gentleman who was watering his lawn. He gave me the nicest compliment. He said "Damn Girl, you are one tough cookie. You run up that hill 3 or 4 times a day and that hill's a real bitch. Good job!" Talk about putting extra energy into my legs. I ended up jogging 1 mile more than I had planned last night because of that one compliment. And it was 94 degress out! I kept giving my daughter ice water and wiping her down with a wet cloth to keep her cool. My husband wanted to go to bed early so I took her with me. It's funny how one compliment can make you whole week better. Bless that sweet man for making my day end so well!

Awwww.. now that most definitely was an awesome compliment! The smallest things make me push myself as well. Sometimes we just need to hear a few nice words to really get our spirits lifted. By the way, kudos to you for pushing baby up that "bitch of a hill" in 94 degrees. :hug2: Also, I'd like to thank both you and Blancita for scaring the shit out of me when it comes time to have a baby. Hmmm... maybe I'll just pull a Bradgelina and adopt a Chinese baby. haha!!!

More good news. My husband is a C130j pilot in the USAF and he has been debating whether or not to get out. He loves flying and gets so much fulfillment out of making a difference with his job. He spent 10 months of every year from 2001-2005 in Iraq and Afghanistan. He took troops in and out, dropped supplies and brought the wounded and dead back to their families. This part has scarred him for life and plagued him with many nightmares but he wouldn't change a thing. Somebody has to to do the unpleasant and dirty work and my H is always first to volunteer. I am very proud of him. Anyways, he doesn't want to go to the airlines because it isn't "fulfilling". He has been given the opportunity to fly for the U.S. Coastguard. The rank, pay and benefits will all be the same and we will be living in Elizabeth City, NC. It's abeautiful small town on the beach. We are both so excited about this. He will still get to fly, help people and the benefits will stay the same. Talk about a dream come true. No more deployments to Iraq for us. No more worrying if he's gonna get shot down or not. No more worrying if he'll get to see our daughter grow up. I am so happy and relieved. :)

YAH!!!! That's fantastic! Congrats to the both of you! Hmmm... NC isn't all too far from NY... then again, I have to drop in to see Ms. Busy Body Blancita in NYC first. HA! I think you two are an amazing duo. Work!

Bless your hearts :). Your message put a tear in my eye. I'm so glad for you that he will be doing something safer while still protecting us with patrolling our coasts and helping people in danger. We really do appreciate you military families.

That town in NC sounds so nice. My mom is moving to Washington, NC next year, which is near Beaufort. Any idea how far it is from there? Several of mom's friends moved to NC and love it. I did a sailing trip on the inner coastal waterways to Annapolis and we were randomly boarded by the coast guard in NC. They were nice.

Thanks Mal! I hope you get to a bunch of hot pilots at the air show. My husband flew in the St. Louis Air Show last year and he brought back alot of great pics. Some other pilots from his squadron are flying in your show I'm sure. His is the only squadron that has this airplane so they get to go to all the shows.

If these guys only knew how hot a flight suit and a pair of aviator sunglasses were. They'd never take it off!
