Starting Over

Ran 3 miles last night and would have gone for 5 but I hurt my knee. I can't seem to do anything without getting hurt lately. It swelled up super big so I finished the night off with a huge ice pack on my knee. 1700 calories yesterday and I burned 400 with the run. I was planning on running tonight with my knee braces (yes that's plural, both knees) but one of my husband's brothers is coming through town and I haven't met him yet. We are going to have dinner with him and his family. He's a rocket scientist for the USAF so this should be interesting.

I'm sorry to hear about your knees... will you be able to run today though or do have to take a few days break or something?

I'm not gonna be able to run today. I severely damaged both of my knees playing basketball in highschool so I am supposed to wear braces during all activities. Needless to say, I don't so it's my fault I got hurt. I willprobably give it a day of rest before I hit the pavement again. :(

oh bummer -where ever will you get your daily dose of eye candy? :D

I got a very close look last night. The trails I run near my house are wooded and very curvy. He rounded the corner and ran right over me! He felt pretty bad about it but. He probably thinks he ran over some chick that was mentally "slow". I just looked at him rather dumbly and said s'okay. I was too busy drooling and having a dirty fantasy in my head to say much. Lol J/K! But damn him, he was wearing baggy shorts. I am used to seeing the fitted biking shorts. He and I need to discuss his wardrobe. :rotflmao:

You know it's good to see evidence that women can be as bad or worse than men at not keep their eyes to themselves :rotflmao:

Hope your knees get to feeling better. Keep up the great work !

that sucks but you have to take care of yourself first, right?

I can't believe you ran into (no pun intended) the hot tight shorts guy. What an odd co-inky-dink. Or was it a coincidence after all? Don't answer that, we wont believe you.

Good job on the pound down Amy :).

Hope your knees feel better soon. Mine always pop and weaken.

Thanks Blancita. I hope everything gets much less tressful for you very soon. Hang in there!

NOrunning last night. We visited with Sean's brother and his family until midnight and then I was up til 1:30 working on a charity event I am captain of. So no exercise. Bleh! I am goinging jogging tonight with the baby so that should burn 400-500 calories. I get off work at noon today and I am going to this local restaurant with some coworkers. I am going to have the biggest damn Bloody Mary they can make me. And maybe a salad. Mmmmm! Can't wait!

Sheesh... cubicle pranks... getting off at noon.... get togethers at restaurants with coworks? Yup.. I really want to work where you work. LOL I hope you and Annabelle have a lovely run and your knees start feeling a lot better. (By the way, that's the cutest name ever. haha) My knees are shot from playing years of softball also, so I know how that goes. Going to the Tossers and Dropkick Muphs concert tomorrow, so I'll make sure to take a couple pix. Wishing you a great weekend, Amy!

Thanks Sheryl. Have a great time!! Can't wait to see the picks. Possibly something new in your cleavage?

So, guess who sucks?? I do! I didn't go running last night. I was outside for quite awhile yesterday afternoon and it was so damn hot that I just wanted to sit when I got home. And drink wine. :) So I got up this morning at 7:00 and went running. I didn't do worth a damn and only ran 2.5 miles. I was tired, dehydrated, and it was sooooo damn hot and humid. I am going to start drinking more water. Especially when I have alcohol. So my running this past week really sucked ass. Too many injuries and too much alcohol. Next week I will get back to my regular schedule of very little or no alcohol and running almost every day. Now I am gonna go clean my house!

Amy, remember we have little babies..we must not be so hard on ourselves. From the outside looking in, jogging 2.5 miles looks damn good! Do not put yourself down for taking it a bit easy last week. We all deserve a break! You have a small child, a job and you're doing such a sweet thing with the charity benefit, plus you've been working your ass off with the exercising over the past year. Keep in mind that a bit of alcohol and less exercise once in a while, for someone who to me is so disciplined, is fine and wont hurt your weight loss efforts. Plus we've still got to clean the damn house to boot!

Thanks Blancita. I am having a somewhat hormonal day. A "fat day". Occasionally I have days like this when I think that the weight is never going to come off. I have been working myself to death for ten months and have just now started losing a little weight. It's frustrating. And what's worse is that I have decided not to go to the USAF Ball. I'm really bummed out about it but I don't want to ruin a potentially great night by feeling crappy because I am uncomfortable in a dress because I am so much heavier. Even if I try low carb and run ten miles a day for the next 6 weeks, I will only lose 10-15lbs and still look bad in a dress. I am having a really hard time accepting myself at this size. I am trying to get my husband to go without me.

Oh sweetie, no one cares that much about your size that you shouldn't go to the ball. I know its hard being a size you're not used to being, it is odd as if you're not yourself. I was also putting off activities, but I dont think your H will appreciate going on his own. He wont care if you look a little plump! He knows you have a medical issue that is being resolved and he can see how hard you've been working. And frankly who cares about anyone elses opinion. Though most women who've had children would DEFINITELY understand how hard it is to get that pregnancy weight off. Well its up to you of course but I say find a nice dress, and when you lose the rest it'll just cost a few dollars to take it in and keep wearing it (anything can be made smaller). Ooooh, but having one of those fat days does suck so I sympathize (I had a fat day 2 days ago).

Thanks for the pick-me-up. I hate hormonal days. :( I am going to wait and see how I feel the week of the ball before I decide to totally cancel or not. Right now I don't want to go. We'll see.

On a brighter note, I do feel much better today. Saturday's run sucked, but I went again last nght and it was much better. I even had the energy to get an hour in of weight training plus ab work when I got home. I will be running again tonight. I need to start putting my meals in here also. I log them into fitday, but maybe posting them in here will help too.

So, I'm looking at my ticker and I am not even close to my goal of 70 miles ran in a month. I have until Friday to run 30 miles!!! I wonder how close I can get. Arkansas is having a record breaking summer with such high temperatures and humidity so the runs are more painful than usual. If I hadn't gotten !@#$ing strep throat I could've made it. Grrrr!

you can borrow some of my miles from the weekend :) oh wait, I'm a slacker I didn't run them...

look at the positive -you've got 30 miles more in that ou did a month ago- you can't control the weather... so you wil make up those miles when it's cooler :D
