Starting Over

For the first time in over a year I looked in the mirror and didn't despise what I saw. I am still 40lbs heavier than I used to be but I look so much different from my post pregnancy pictures. My stomach is actually flat again! Bigger around but FLAT! Most of my weight is in my booty and thighs. I can finally see results from all the running and weight training I've been doing the past 8 months. This feels great!

I'm really happy for you Amy. Its a great feeling after so very long of being in the body that you're used to. Its almost weird to be back in your original body. I know what you're going through, I hit that turning point about 2 months ago. I think a little extra weight in the thighs and butt you can definitely carry off and be looking good. Eventually we'll both be right back to where we were before we ever even got pregnant, and yet we get to have our adorable little babies to boot :). They are so sweet and fun!

Thanks for the motivation Blancita!

I have had a bit of a setback. I have been sick for the past few days and it turns out that it's strep throat. Yuck. So I am way behind on my jogging goal and I still don't feel that well. I am DYING to get back to jogging in the evenings so I can get into that ballgown in September. The upside is that I haven't been able to eat much so the calories haven't been too bad!

Hope you feel better soon.

Be careful around the baby..wash your hands lots :).

Dont worry, a few days might be a good break for your tired body. You've really been working out hard these last months.

Thanks for the get well wishes. My husband is avoiding me as if I have he plague and we are being careful to sterilize everything I come into contact with. I shouldn't be contagious after 24 hours of taking the antibiotics, I hope. :)

I'm feeling alot better today. I started the antibiotics so hopefully the strep throat will be gone soon. I am going back to running this evening after work. I need to add a mile to my run for the next few days in order to reach my goal. Being sick really set me back. The weather here in AR is so beautiful. The high is 99 but it will get down to 66 tonight so my run should be very pleasant. And it's not humid out which is unusual for our weather.

I'm doing well on my calories. 1400-1600 a day. I just need to get back to running and weight training.

That's funny about H avoiding you. Mine does that too on the rare occasion I'm ill. Talk about paranoid :D. Are you feeling any more energetic from the thyroid medication? Hope so :). You are so disciplined with your working out and calorie intake, I really admire your effort.

Thanks! I think it's more stubborness than discipline or effort. Running has always been very therapeutic (sp?) for me. I started running right after highschool in races (5k & 10K) and it loosens me up and helps me relax. It when I do all my serious thinking. It's just been hard to get back into shape after the pregnancy.

The Synthroid is definitely making me feel much better. I used to stay exhausted and dread workouts after work. I now have the energy to throw on my jogging pants and hit the pavement after a long day.

Oh yeah, my husband now has strep throat. Lol! Poor guy.

I'm not sure why, but I had tons of energy last night when I got home from work. And I didn't have any caffeine yesterday. I jogged 3 miles with Bella in her stroller and then couldn't sit down when I got home. I ended up giving her a one hour bath so she could play, cleaning the entire house, doing all the laundry and putting on a roast for tonight's dinner. Geez, I wish I had energy like this every day!

dang you should have dropped by my place - my dust bunnies are starting to plan a takeover.. i think they held Miss Ginger Kitty hostage for a while...

An hour and a half at the gym last night with my trainer. Got 2 miles on the treadmill and ArcTrainer combined plus over an hour of circuit weight training. My booty, calves, and abs are super sore today which at least lets me know I worked hard last night. 1545 calories yesterday, planning on 1600-1700 today to fuel up for my 4 mile run tonight.

Does your trainer charge a lot? Here they charge between $70-$100 per hour. Totally ridiculous IMO. Have you weighed since starting the meds? What's your imaginary WL ticker doing these days?

Thank goodness my H is in the USAF. We have an amazing fitness center on base that's 100% free and the personal trainers are super inexpensive. In town the trainers are $50-100 per hour but I only pay $20 per hour on base. I used to be a personal trainer years ago but I needed the extra push to get back into shape after the pregnancy. I am going to get re-certified after I get back into shape and lose this weight.

I'm not sure if the weight is going down yet. I am afraid to get on the scale just yet because it's supposed to take the thyroid medication 4-6 weeks to kick in. I don't want to be disappointed. I have noticed a huge change in my body though. Today I am wearing an oxford that was super tight a couple of months after giving birth. It billows around me when I walk now so I know I've lost tons of inches. I am weighing myself August 1st. I will post a weight ticker then.

Whew! I just got back from a 4 mile run. I was able to run it in 42 minutes so my time is definitely getting better. I'm exhausted. Gonna go get in the tub.

I went running on friday and worked out with the trainer on Saturday but decided to take Sunday off. Big mistake. Sunday Funday right? My husband and I vegged out all day on the couch. I was just sooo tired, I didn't feel like doing anything. I did well with my calories until dinner time. The dinner was healthy, grilled tomato basil chicken with roasted vegetables and a piece of warm whole wheat pita bread. The problem is that I made my husband homemade apple cobbler with a crunchy brown sugar and cinnamon glaze. HUGE mistake. Of course I had a somewhat large piece. I'm not sure how many calories it was, but probably at least 500. Today I am back on track with the calories and running.
