starryeyed's diary*

heya everyone!

i'm reporting in from my parents house- both of my friends aren't off work until 5 or so, so i've got some time to kill, just chillin out with the puppy and listening to tunes...

man oh man, i've eaten horrible today. my parents made ham omlet's for brekkie with toast (and butter of course), then for lunch i had leftover tortellini with alfredo sauce, i'd say about a cup and a half... upside -> we have no juice right now, so i've been drinking water. and thank goodness my lil bro loves hanging out with me, he did a 10min pilates workout with me this morning. i'm thinking of doing another one just cause i don't have anything else to do really...

hope everyone had a good weekend!

We all are gonna have bad days. :( Just get back up on the horse and keep doing what you've been doing to lose weight.

Today, I went in the freezer to have a bite size Hershey bar that I knew was in there. I never crave chocolate, but today I felt like having a tiny piece. I searched that freezer over and none to be found. I was mad! My kids found it and ate it. Not fair... that was emergency chocolate!

That was nice of your brother to work out with you. ;)

I hope you have a better day tomorrow.

Anne

i'm baaaa-aaaack

hellllllo hellllo my sweets

i'm back in the city from the suburbs- goodtimes were had by all... mainly me, but there's nothing wrong with that.

even though it was fun cause i love being home and sleeping in, and guitar hero, and playing with my puppy- i will admit my diet with completely to you know where... there was a big family dinner, with ham, and wine- tons of treats cause my grandparents were over, lunches out at restaurants... gosh. and then today at work, without even asking, i was presented with BBQ Ribs after my shift from the cooks- which i couldn't turn down cause immediately my mouth was like :drool5: ugh. but not gonna lie- i loved every minute of it. lol.

i worked out 2 times yesterday though, so i'm happy about that, i'm going to try to convince myself to do it again tonight before bed, but i have some reading to catch up on for school...

so i'm off to go work on that, and i hope everyone has a good night! :seeya:

Hehe Starry... well at least you enjoyed yourself, and now you can get back on track and make up for it all. Have a good night too. :)

Hiya

Sounds like you had a fantastic time at your parents, and so what if you went for track for a few days your back now and doing excerise so thats that back on track,
We all do it but you have done the most inportant thing getting back on track (thats where i really struggle)

Take Care
Sarah

Hi ya doll... :)

When we take time off from watchin' stuff closely, we can always get right back on the plan.. ;)

Best Wishes for a Goal Reachin' Thursday!

:hug2:

so all in all, it's been a pretty crappy week, i'm not gonna lie! but as you've all said, i can jump back on! i've just read up on all your diaries, and they're so inspiring and motivational- you all make me want to do better!!!

i stayed on track yesterday until i went to my friends house and her cousin was visiting from up north, so we all went out for ice-cream... lol- i love ice cream when it's cold out.

i need to get my new gym pass, but i hate going to the gym when it's pouring rain- after i get off work, i just want to come home... i'm going to my mom's house today before pilates- but i think instead of taking her to the restaurant by her place where i always take her, we'll go to the subway next door.

i'm getting so excited for my birthday- i'm having dinner at a restaurant downtown with 20 friends and family, then my friends and i are going out clubbing/partying until the wee hours of the morning, and then we're going to stay at a hotel... so excited!!! even though it's like, a month away! and unfortunately i think i'm going to have my RHC that night. grrrrrrr...

anyways, time to get ready for work! it's friday so i'm going to be running during my whole shift with orders! (at least i'm hoping to be!!) ha ha

have a great friday everyone!!

Hi Starryeyed

I have just gone through your diary. On the whole you have been doing very well with your project. Don't worry if everything doesnt quite go to plan - especially when you go away (I had that last weekend too!). You just need to refocus and everything goes right. I failed far too many diets by giving up after a bad few days - I was so silly when I was young.

It was a really smart move to go through various people's diaries in search of motivation. :hurray: Motivation is the key to staying focused - and indeed to refocusing.:hurray:

So you have a pedometer. I use mine a lot. I wear it all the time because I burn calories all the time - so I count all my steps. I put it on when I get dressed in the morning so I cannot forget it.

Is it you that is having trouble with your pedometer or Anne?

I had trouble getting my pedometer to register all the steps when I first got it. I had a good idea of the distance that I was walking because we had measured it out in the car. The pedometer gave a totally different reading. The next day if I did the same walk it gave yet another reading. You expect a certain discrepancy because if you walk a mile you do not always do the same amount of steps.

Anyway - there are two aspects that you have to think about when wearing a pedometer.
1/ You have to make sure that it is set up with the right stepsize. One way of doing this is to have your heels on a line and then take 10 steps forward - then divide the length by 10. This is more accurate than just measuring the length of one step.
2/ You also have to make sure that you are wearing it right. I wear mine on my trouser waistband above the middle of my right knee. At first I had a problem as I said. It transpired that my bra was not supportive enough and my boobs were acting as a shock absorber so the pedometer did not detect all the steps that were taken. I started wearing a more supportive bra and the pedometer reading got a lot more consistant and started tying in with the expected length of the walk from our car experiment.

If you have any questions about your pedometer - or anything else - just ask. I am always more than happy to help if I can.

Good luck with your project.

Take care
Best wishes
Margaret

I need ta take my own freakin' advice huh, and not have a melt down?

LOL! LOL! :D

RHC is just a horrible pain! :reddevil: lol

I will be dealing w/that on TG for pete sakes..lol

Have A Great Night at work and a Fab Weekend doll! :hug2: *Smoochies!*

:waving:

hey everyone... just checking in before i get ready for work...
thanks for dropping by, Margaret! I have the pedometer, i think my only problem is remembering to put it on in the morning, :ack2: but thanks for the tips!!

oh stacy, if only it didn't exist... goodluck on TG though :reddevil:

so as you can all probably see from my ticker, i'm up 1.5lbs this week, but you know what, i'm completely okay with that- it'll be way easy to lose this week, i'm sure of it!

i'll catch up on everyone's diaries after work, i gtg jump in the shower

Hi Starryeyed,

Putting on the pedometer - the solution. I have only forgotten to put mine on once (I was really rushed when I had a shower once and had visitors expected any minute) - I did get a surprise when I realised that I didnt have it on. What I do is I wear it all day until bedtime. I then clip it into the clothes that I am going to wear the next day. If I change or bath / shower - I move it from the "before" clothes to the "after" clothes. As I say it isnt perfect - but in life who / what is?

I hope that things are going well with you.

Take care
Love
Margaret

heya Margaret, thanks for the tip!

well, i drank lots of water today, and i've been mainly snacking on fruits, which is good. i'm going to go run and cut up some veggies to take with me to work so i can snack on them instead of bread... :D

i did some amazing photography on the weekend- some headshots of friends. i'm debating creating a flickr account for everyone to be able to see them- i'm starting to learn more and more about natural light- i haven't used flashes or anything else yet! coolstuff.

anyways, the fridge o'veggies beckons, so i'm outta here- i will be back after work though... ps- i totally went car shopping today and it was AMAZING AND SO MUCH FUN! i can't wait!

have a good night!

Hi Starryeyed

The photos sound good. You could set up a ringo account for your photography etc like I have my photos on (see p21 of my diary). I couldnt get my photos down to the size needed for the website.

Snacking on water, fruit and veggies is really healthy. Very well done!:hurray:

Car shopping sounds lots of fun.

Take care

Hi

So a little gain this week thats nothing you will loose that and more next week if you keep going the way you were!

I love reading other peoples diarys loads of hints and tips but also so many things i laugh at as well really does keep me motivated

Have a good week
Sarah

heya everyone!!

Margaret: I will def take a look at your photos as soon I finish writing this! I've never gone on to Ringo, but I always look up on flickr for random photography- it's so inspiring!

stacy: you silly goof! I had my TG in October  but but then, it was quite good if I remember correctly... ham, turkery, stuffing, corn... oh i better stop, my mouth is starting to water just at the thought... lol ha ha

sarah: yup, i love reading other ppl's diaries! very motivational! and if you read up on stacy's journal- you'll not only get some good tips, but quite often you'll come across some laughter... esp. on a wednesday... lol

Well, i'm doing good so far- I was offered some sushi today, but I turned it down cause me and raw salmon don't mix that well- any other kind, i'm all for it :p so instead I was offered some soup, which I took- ate about maybe 1/2 cup on rice noodles with some crab meat (at least i hope that's what it was...)
i've also munched on some cauliflower, got a 6" ham and turkey sub from Subway with no cheese! and italian dressing! yay me :hurray: i'm drinking the remnants of my diet coke as a i write this, but i also had some water earlier today as well... oh! and eggs and an apple for lunch.

I got to serve all by myself today! i of course still had my boss there and essentially we switched rolls- so i wasn't left wandering around thinking about hunger, so it was good!

today was also pay day, so i got my tips to put towards my birthday fund, which is now at $373.00!! yay! i should have enough money set aside for my birthday! and then i can start saving for other things... like a new camera! lol i'm way too materialistic, i really am. horrible. but very fun. :hat:

anyways, i'm going to do some pilates and workout for about 30mins or something before work, so i'm outta here!! don't worry, i'll be back later tho :cheers2:

Hi Starryeyed

You are still doing really well. :hurray:

It is great that you are doing exercise and being good with your food. This is the way we make our dreams come true.

If you and your boss switched roles - that means that you were his boss for a change - that would be fun.

Your birthday fund is really building up - you should be able to have a spectacular time with that. Your 21st is a special birthday - and you are going to really enjoy yours.

There is nothing wrong with a little materialism - everyone likes to have nice things whether they admit it or not. I think that you are very sensible - some young people do not appreciate the value of money and they just ask for things to be bought for them. You are working and earning money and are saving for things that you want. When you get older you need to be able to budget and you are learning these skills.

Take care
Love
Margaret

Margaret, you're such a sweetheart! thank you for all your kind words and support! :hug2: Speaking of planning for the future and such, have you ever read or watched The Secret? It's all about positive thinking to get what you want out of life... it's a good read!

So I totally didn't workout like I said I would, but I wanted to go over some other stuff... don't worry, i'll squeeze in a workout sometime tonight *crosses fingers* cause i always like to workout on my own and add it to my pilates class- which is tomorrow :)

So I've been trying to follow my plan of 3 Proteins, 2 Grains, 3 Fruit, 4 Veggies, but I thought that on a whim yesterday, I would see what that would add up in points if i were to follow WeightWatchers (which I followed for the last 3 years...) and I was actually below my "target" for daily points, and I wondered if maybe this was why I wasn't losing as much weight as I was when I was actually following the points system. (or maybe I'm just trying to blame something else for not eating properly ie- junk food on weekends) so I've been going by points for yesterday and today, and I'm going to try and follow it for a week, then when I check the results, I'll see if there's a difference- then maybe I'll add another protein and/or fruit to my plan, cause i was always snacking on something, and yesterday I was good, but caved in during my last hours and had an extra Vector bar (i had no fruit in my house or I would've snacked on that) so I guess we'll see what happens then...

Today I've eaten...
Oatmeal (apple&cinnamon) 2 PTS
2 Cups of veggies (cauliflower and 1/2 of a green pepper) 0 PTS
1 Tall, Decaf, Soy, No Whip, Sugar-Free Cinnamon Dolce Latte 2 PTS
1 6" Ham sub from Subway with lettuce and Italian dressing 5 PTS
1 Diet Coke 0 PTS
1 Water 0 PTS
1 Apple 2 PTS
----------------
Total (so far): 11 PTS

I'm getting so excited for the Spice Girls concert that kicks off here in Vancouver on the 2nd! They were my heroes when I was a kid (and they totally still are) so I've been listening to nothing but their songs on my ipod. My friends and I are dressing up as well- I'm going to be Sporty Spice (which is a change, considering I was always forced to be Posh as a kid cause I was the only one with short, black hair) Anyways, I'm outta here for now!
CIAO! :grouphug:

Hi Starryeyed

I havent read or watched The Secret. I will look out for it. I always like to be motivated. One of the most motivating and inspirational people that I have ever heard speak was a man called Chris Moon. He has written an autobiography which is very good. You can read a bit about him here:

Listening to him or reading his book - you really can believe that anyone can do anything.

It is a good idea for you to do some exercise - I really am convinced that my walking really helps me a lot.

Some people lose weight with Weight Watchers so it is a perfectly valid idea to follow their points system - especially if you have lost weight with it in the past. As ever it is important to eat a proper balanced diet with all the nutrients that we need. As I understand it - it is possible to eat unhealthy food with Weight Watchers and if the points total is not exceeded it is not obvious that there is a problem. You would be wise to ensure that you still eat things that fall into the grain, protein, fruit, veg classifications that you have been using - even while adding up the points.

Also remember that if you have been eating junk food at the weekend - next time that happens they will translate into a great deal of points.

We all sin a little at times - but junk food never helps us achieve our weight loss dreams.

You have eaten sensibly with the food that you posted. Well done.:hurray:

I imagine that you will be looking forward to the concert. Everyone enjoys a fun night out with their friends (even at my age). Talking of the Spice Girls reminds me. Around the end of the time that the Spice Girls were famous - my cousin Ashlyn (was about 30 to 32 at the time). Anyway her friends decided to all dress up as the Spice Girls. Ashlyn got a dress that had a Union Jack (i.e. UK flag) like Ginger used to wear. Anyway someone (maybe her husband!!!) described her as Grandma Spice......

I am pleased that you are enjoying listening to the old songs and am sure that you will have a brilliant night out.

Take care
Love
Margaret
