I have to give you a big congrats for this quitting smoking endeavor and wish you the very best!! It will not be easy for you with all the other stuff you have to deal with right now, but it will be well worth the sacrifices in the end. I agree with Margaret that the smoking poses a much greater threat to your health than the extra weight does atm, so don't worry if you gain a few lbs b/c of it. You can deal with that later. Like you said, just keep in mind all the $$ you'll be saving from not buying cigs..lol
I'm hoping that you stay strong and manage to keep off the cigarettes. I think that walking Zu-zu and using that wonderful exercise bike is the way to go. It should divert you and keep you occupied. If you are busy you wont be smoking or eating so you are ahead already. Then you are burning calories so it should help with the weight control too.
I'm sure that you will enjoy spending time with your little sister.
I'm sorry that you had to close your forum. You put a lot of work into it and got a lot of pleasure from it. There is a good side however - it will mean that you have more time to come here and talk to all of us! Often there is a good side of bad things if we look hard enough.
If you get sick of gum, you might want to try chewing on a coffee stirer or something like that--something to occupy your hands and mouth. Hahaha. I just thought of something else that would do that. I'm sure Dave would enjoy it.
It looks like everything is going well for you. It looks like the walking and gum is helping keep you occupied. I often think that one great thing about walking is that I dont want to eat during that time.
These are all good habits and should come easier in time.
Everyone on the forum wants you to succeed with this.
Yup, we all want you and Dave to succeed. But just remember--if you give in and have one, we won't think less of you--we'll still love you.
But, you are doing fantastic. I think the mint and walking idea is a good one b/c it should keep you from eating more than you want to. Just remember it's better to eat than smoke..lol.
Did you tell Dave of my idea for keeping your hands and mouth busy?
Keep up the great work girl--and just take it one day at a time.
OMGoodness!!!
You are doing super wonderful!!!
I am soooo very proud of you. You keep at it girly.
I am so jealous that you have someone to play games with. I married a non-gamer so never have anyone to play with.
He says the reason they call it a board game is because it is boring! LOL
Oh well. I am pretty sure that my younger kids are growing up to be gamers. So there is still hope yet. with Kimberly. I want to see pics of your patios. Sounds so calming. My mornings are anything but! LOL
Dd is nothing if not pokey so it is a constant battle to get her to school on time. Goes like that every year. The closer the end of the year gets the pokier she is.
Hope you had a goal reaching Monday!
Keep up all the good work!
Whelp, you guys will be even more proud of me..Pretty sure I passed the mother of all tests re: smoking..
I left here a little after 4PM to pick Cory up from school.
He stayed over to help out with an upcoming play/choir event.
While stopped at the light 4 mins from our home, we were strongly rear-ended in our dern NEW car!
Poor Cory was scared to death and so was I bc due to my RA and spinal cord problems (esp. in my neck area which is the worst), My right side instantly went numb and my hand/arm was spazzing out. I became very dizzy and sick to my tummy. I couldn't get out of the car of course and I was burning up due to the heat. Cory shut the car off.
Cory chewed the lady out and told her to call 911. ( He was fine by the way.) Just had a bad headache. Probably from the jolt and stress.
I have never been in a car accident before.
Let me tell ya, 35 mph hitting you while your just sitting there is quite an impact.
Honda makes an EXCELLENT car (2007 Civic) bc all the damage is to the bumper only. She was driving a 2002 Chevy Tahoe.
Her LC Plate #'s are imprinted on our bumper!!! There are also scratches/missing paint. (Our car is black.) Her's is gold.
She was talking on her damn cell phone and looked down then hit us.
She was balling bc she felt so bad and felt terrible that I was having the issues and just for the accident.
The paramedics wanted to tie me down to board w/the works and take me to hospital and I said no..lol
I said, "please just give me some time."
They helped me out of the car and helped me get my barrings/walking.
I walked drunk at first bc I was so dizzy.
Feeling started coming back to right side and they asked me several times if I was sure I didn't want to go to hospital.
I told them I was sure and once the police arrived they left.
This woman was just falling apart so I wobbled over to her and hugged her.
I did scold her firmly about talking on the phone/driving and that I hope this taught her a valuable lesson. She agreed and began to calm down.
Once home hubby was beside himself. He knew something was wrong bc of how long we were gone.
I had horrible shooting pain up arm, in back and up my spine to neck.
I was still very dizzy and had to lie down.
Once up, the pain was a little better and we went ahead with plans for dinner and hubby helped of course. The grilled pineapple/teriyaki chicken was oooo so yummy along with the grilled pineapples.
We also had rice with peas and salads.
I picked the small chicken breast - had 4 pineapple slices - 1/2 C. rice w/peas - small salad w/thousand island dressing.
Had a 7Up as well.
I started hurting again and had to lie back down. Just got back up which means I'll now be up late dammit!
I'm scared about waking up tomorrow. That will be the true test if I'll have to go see my neuro doc.
If I wake up numb and can't use my right side, that means one of my brittle vertebras is messed up and pinching a nerve.
Plus extreme pain.
We'll see... I'm hoping for the best! I for sure don't want a C-Spine!!
That test has me in utter tears bc of how uncomfy it is bc of havin' RA and bein' closed up in a tube with loud banging noises for 40 mins.
I'm so screwed up afterwards, I can't move bc it makes me so stiff.
They have to raise me up - get me off table - and take me to a recovery room! That is how bad is screws w/me.
So, the point of this novel (sorry - lol) is I'm so super proud of myself bc BOY did I want a cigg as well as hubby and we both just pushed through the stress. (proud of him to.)
Now, does more crap happen to me and my family or what?!?
All I can do is shake my head and laugh.
I'd go crazy otherwise.
No exercise bike today 4 me of course...lol..
Glad I got the 20 min walk in earlier today!
Gripes my butt though bc I would have walked longer in the heat if I would have known I wouldn't be able to ride bike later.
Man Stac
It seems that if you didn't have bad luck you would have no luck at all! LOL
Glad to hear that you are okay. Well Sorta. You really should have let them take you to the hospital. That way if it turns out to be worse than they could for sure tie it all in with the accident.
Take it easy and rest.
And CONGRATS on resisting the urge to smoke. If you can make it thru that than you can surely make it thru anything.
Too bad we don't live by one another. We love board games/card games of all sorts and have a huge collection. You'd just have ta come over and hang out with us.
We always have a blast.
LOL about bad luck bein' my only luck.
I have to keep trusting that the Lord is going to bless us one day with lots of great blessings of all sorts to make up for all the bad ones like His Word says! lol
Kimberly & Dawn: I will for sure take some pics for y'all!
Let me add the final touches with the last of the work I have left, and then I'll take/post them.
Kimberly: LMBO re: action
The weather man told us to get ready - our TX Summer is here to stay.
Just gonna go up from here..lol..I'll handle it ok once the pools open!
They will all be open soon. Memorial Day Weekend is always the grand opening.
Well done for not smoking despite all the stress. Also you have not turned to the food either - you are doing really well with this.
I agree with Dawn - you should have let them take you to hospital. You can feel fine when there are real problems and you need to be checked out. You need to be able to sue people and get money out of them or their insurance companies when you get serious health issues from an accident like that. As you noted - she was stupid enough to be talking on the phone while driving. She deserves to take the consequences for that.
Sorry that the accident has spoiled the new car for you. When the car gets fixed up (on her insurance) it will not be noticed that it has happened. It shouldnt affect the value of the car. The huge decline in new vehicle value comes the second you drive it from the car showroom.
Despite the problems - it sounds like you are having a goal reaching day.
