Sparrows Experiment

Wow, Sparrow, I'm gonna keep this post as motivation for when I turn 50 next year;)

Seriously, though, there are a lot of fast older (we prefer "older guy" rather than "old guy" :D) guys out there. I ride with Glenn who is 68 and can average 20 - 22 mph for half a century.

oooooh ouch....okay, I knew better *ducking*

My point is, he looked like my grandpa..only fit ;) hahaha okay Gator, I'm just razzin ya a bit now :)

Yes, he was probably in that mid-60 range and it just really surprised me, thats all :) There were quite a few "older guys" who were out there and haulin apples. I just didn't expect one to be glued to my tire! After my initial SHOCK I was in great respect!

In another time and other place it could have been YOU! ;) hehe. But if it were I'd feel okay in saying "hey old man...er, um I mean...'older man', please don't stare at my booty" :)

:luxlove: ahh, you know I love ya :hug2:

No harm, Sparrow:luxlove:

60 min "active rest" run 9:30 pace

swim:

4x300: out at each 75 for 10 push ups
4x100 butterfly kick on back
cool down

I'm tired.

I took yesterday off. It was heaven...and I traded the hard workout at the gym for a hard very hot day in the sun at a swim meet all day :( My kids did awesome though.

I've been tracking Todd (FF) in his race today. Looks like he in the ballpark with his swim at 49:45. At this point he still hasn't come in from his bike. I'm not sure his start time but the pros started at 6:20am or something. Here is the link if anyone is curious

That's a cool link! At this time, 11:30am ET, he had finished the swim (49:45) and the bike (3:26:50) and is on the run.

hes not going to get the time he wants, but he's still doing well...I bet he has a great story of it all!

I was following it all morning. He did great!!!
I think it was way too HOT today. I went for a run yesterday when it was 90 and I thought I wasn't gonna make it. I was seriously contemplating banging on somebody's door and calling my husband to pick me up....And it was only 7 miles, so I know how it feels.
BTW, I checked out the results on some of the female athletes and their times are just insane.:eek2::eek::eek:

How do you think you'll do?

I was checking those times too Betty. I'm convinced some of those gals just aren't human. Who does a 6 min pace on a 90+ with humidity day at the END of a long swim and bike? A machine, thats who. I cannot fathom that kind of speed...but then, its their job...some of those people are actually getting PAID to train for things like this and do well. What a great job :)...what a lot of pressure!

I don't know how I'll do. If I could do it in 60 degree weather I could do great! But I won't be so lucky in August! Heat and wind are major factors for me.

btw FF just sent me a pic of his finishers medal, its pretty sweet....I guess that means he's still alive ;)

Well on the heels of all this half iron talk my posted workout is going to look pretty cheesy :)

45 min spin class (sub instructor-wasn't too into her style)
30 min run RPE 3-4 (8:30 pace)
30 min shoulders/back weights (as if I really need them :()
core

I'm really wiped out today from yesterday's swim meet marathon in the sun. My kids look like zombies as well. I HATE the CA heat soooo much

60 min bike. Threw in a bit of everything-flats, headwind, hills, downhill, in and out of saddle but I was aero about 55 minutes of it all.

I'm hoping to throw in another workout later but I'm solo this week so it might not happen. Hubby is down south for a conference.

swim
4x75 (50free/25back)
2x600 1. RPE 4 (9:00) 2. RPE 8 (8:30)
150 cool

75 bike w/hills

bi/tri/back weights

I was DRENCHED at the end of this workout. I tend to back off a bit biking when I know I've already done something (like the swimming) I had to pretend I'd just gotten there so I could give it my 110%. I really really fried my legs, created big puddles of water around my bike and it felt GREAT. I really think I could have wrung out my shirt. it was pretty gross.

75 miles or 75 minutes?:rolleyes::eek:

full body weights-including some of my old long lost NROL moves. Glad to see my strength is (kinda) still there. I did have to fight for it.

Ditched the rest of my workout for a 2 hour nap today. It just caught up with me all at once. The rest of the week will be heavy.

haha I'd love to be impressive and say it was the former, but it was 75 minutes. I DO have a life...

...sometimes :)

HA! prove it!
