Sparrows Experiment

Welcome to Monday everyone.

SO my intent was to get up early and work out. I try to do that Mondays after cheats. It gets me going. Otherwise its hard to get up! I ended up eating the entire quart of baskin robbins jamoca almond fudge around 10pm last night. oink.
I weighed this morning to assess the damage. I was .2 lower than yesterday ;D Cheat days are cool.

Today I've had 1/2 c oatmeal and a scoop of whey. I'm certainly not hungry and I need to go to the gym soon since I missed my 5am meeting with it.

Here is the rest of the day:
snack: 1 T natty butter
lunch: 1/2 c rice, 1 c diced chicken, 1 c broccoli
snack: scoop whey, cup of soy
dinner: can tuna, lc tortilla, 1/4 c moz. cheese

Today is back day and i'm doing HIIT 3 times this week staggared with long distance runs. I'm changing my routine for the next few weeks. I usually don't do only one body part on one day but I'm hoping it will be less stress on my body by the end of the week. Last week I just felt like death by the end. I'm also doing 1100 cals today and tomorrow will be 1150 both with lower carb. Tues-Friday will be 1300 with moderate carb and sat and sun will be 1600 with higher carb, Sunday being the cheat day. Then back down to 1150 Monday. Its another one of my many experiments. Once I start losing on that routine I'll bump up the numbers.

Jaymie, I LOVE coloring books too. Man they are so fun. My kids have a b'zillion of them because I keep getting them. I love puzzles too. My 3 yr old does these puzzles that are even hard for ME! she's a wiz. I'm into the night movie on the blankie. We set up a theatre in front room and light candles with raw veggies and dip (popcorn SOMEtimes but it can become a real mess. My kdis dig it so much that if I miss a part of setting it up right they'll call me on it.

Someday it WILL be a memory ;( sniff. But just think of all the great memories you are creating along the way that they'll want to do with THEIR kids! thats the cool part

Happy Day!

Sparrow, this is not health related, but I have a question for ya. You mentioned your children have a b'zillion coloring books. How many zeroes are in a b'zillion ?? I'm just curious. :)

JPC I'm so sorry, I tried really hard to fit all those zeros into my message box for you but no matter how many times I tried I ran out of room. My computer must not be able to count that high ;) I'm sure you understand. :D

The day went well. I had a really great workout with my running. I ran steady at 6.3 for a half hour and then I went right into HIIT for 20 minutes alternating 7.5 for a minute and "resting" at 6.0 for 2 minutes.

My back workout was very strong. I was able to add weight again!

I'm done with my 1100 cals already and its only 5. that might be a problem :(

Well, I hope you eat some more !! Also, nice job on the weight adding, just remember to keep your form strict. I'm sure you're aware of that, just giving you a reminder :) Keep up the good work !!

hello gang
Today was good. Just did bis and tris. I'm becoming surprised at how easy my old weights are all the sudden. I have been able to pump up poundage quite substantially lately. its wonderful! My new goal is trying to drink more water. i have realized how little of that I consume. I have a 32 oz thing I have tried to fill up twice a day. Its hard! I can usually get through one during my workout time easily but the rest of the day is so forced. My goal will be 100 oz eventually. I used to drink that all the time when I lived in Colorado and I felt dehydrated all the time from altitude.
Anyway, I did bis and tris and then an hour on the precor at level 12. That was quite easy too even though I was booking it, and my heart rate never went above 122. weird.
Today was my last low cal/low carb day and tomorrow is moderate carb and calorie at 1300 for 3 days. I'm doing cycling for those who are confused at what I'm talking about. My high days will follow the mod ones.

Man, its hot here. Whats the weather wherever you are?

signing off...

Hey its gonna be a hot one here in Texas today as well don't feel bad you're not the only sweaty one! lol :)

Its just real humid and no clouds whatsoever. So like...question...Why are you doing the calorie cycling again?? Don't even tell me you're trying to lose weight again! : /

Just chill and maintain for a while til your body gets its metabolism back. JMO, I think you should let your body adjust before doing all this calorie switching. Just an FYI on what I went through, I just NOW got my metab. on track and I started recovering at the beginning of my diary can't remember what the date was ... anyway, now I'm pretty much eating *drumroll* ..... about 1700 to 2400 calories a day now. AND, have lost 3 pounds since 2 weeks ago. Now I'm @ 121.5 and that is going by weights in the evening about 7:00 pm...I have never weighed in the mornings b/c I don't own a scale...they are evil things to have in the house so....anyway my point is I am in balance now and I'm not afraid of food anymore. I don't even get those carb cravings anymore. Now its just a whole lot smoother.

So I'm just saying maybe you should keep INCREASING not decreasing and cycling and all that. Just let your body get stable it will take a few months. You must be PATIENT !! I know it sucks! But WELL worth it trust me !!!! :)

;)

Hi Jaymie,
no not expecting to lose weight. I talked to sarahfitchic on this site who mentioned that cycling might be a good idea. I have been on 1300 and still gaining. As much as I want to decrease because gaining freaks me to no end, I haven't, yet I still gain. I may have already gotten used to 1300 (because I was maintaining on it for a few WEEKS) and to my body that is still "starvation" so my cycling it keeps it guessing. I cycle 200 lower and up to 300 higher throughout the week and then I'll increase my base cals the next week higher. So instead of 1300 next week I'll do 1400 and cycle with that number. I plan on just increasing like that until I get close to 2000 no matter what my body weight does. The difference is I FEEL leaner. I see all my tummy muscles now and although I have a very small accumulation of loose skin under my belly button (hello 3 kids in 5 years!) I am tight everywhere else. I feel ultra strong and thats all that reallllly matters. You're right, the scale is evil. I find on the days I actually think I'm lighter...I'm not, I'm heavier! I'm almost 132 which is the heaviest I've been for quite a while on a consistant basis. my point is though I feel like I look leaner than I did at 125.
so anyway, your stats are encouraging and I hope to be where you are sooner than later.

btw girl you started in JANUARY! If I have to wait that long I'll cry

Wednesday
Yesterday was legs and I backed off a little from what I did the week before. I didnt want it to thrash me as bad! Then I did only 2000 yds in the pool. That fast triathlon dude wasn't there and swimming is so boring and unmotivating alone. I hit my 1300 and was fine. I was up again on the scale yesterday. but I don't care. I got in 75 oz of water...a huge deal for me

Today, Thursday I was going to go do chest and shoulders and my cardio but I got busy and honestly was very tired. Bad night. So I took the day off and it felt great. I was up to 132.4 today. ugh up and up it climbs. I just did housework, played in the sprinklers with kids and entertained some of their neighbor friends with popcicles and hide and seek. Kids are the best. My husband surprised me with a date night tonight which was FABULOUS. He took me to dinner although I'd already eaten dinner with my remaining cals, and it was really late. I ate anyway. It had been 4 hours since dinner anyway (10pm). here is today...like anyone really looks at menus..but it helps me to post it.

breakfast: 1 scoop whey, 1 cup milk, 1 T natty butter blended
snack-busy
lunch: 1 can albacore tuna, 1/2 c black beans, 1 can green beans, 1 chopped tomato, 2 T ff sr cream, 1 slice ezekiel bread
snack: 1 scoop whey, 1 c milk, 1/2 T pb
dinner: 1 c chicken diced, 1.5c cauliflower, 1" bar cookie (whoops)
snack: shrimp kabobs over lettuce and veggies (210 cals from applebees)
1550 cals :D and it was easy

Great Sparrow!
1550 is good! Long time no hear, was missin ya :)

Well good to hear all is well. I was hoping something wasn't wrong or anything cuz you hadn't posted in a while! Just me being a nut. I always worry about my friends call me crazy

Welp, never been to Applebees do they have a healthy menu there compared to alot of places?

Applebees is your typical lighthearted bar and grill. Its a fun environment. They have a weight watchers menu thats healthy and they post the nutritional content of the foods on that. There is a chipotle tilapia there that is SO good but I wasn't that hungry last night.

Jaymie you seem to be doing very well! Don't let those few pounds upset you, its just water weight from all your insane workouts! I think thats part of my problem. I'm overtraining. Its addicting, hard not to.

I hope you have a great weekend!

TGIF. Sometimes these weeks fly.
I got very very little sleep last night and I'm feeling it. I went to the gym and did the chest and shoulders I was supposed to do yesterday. I love chest and shoulder day. They are both my strengths. There is this exercise I love to do where i prop my feet behind me up on a bench and do boy pushups at a decline. If you just hang there as long as you can with straight arms its really good too. You can feel it from your arms through your core muscles. I have contests to see how long I can do it without shaking too badly :)
Then I did 60 min of mod. cardio on the ellipical level 12. It was more busy work than beneficial I think. That kind of workout is unchallenging to me. Only treadmill running kicks my butt cause you can really play with the variables. well the moving stairs is a close second
Today is my last day of moderate carb and calorie (1300)

Breakfast before workout:
1 scoop chocolate whey
1 c chocolate soy milk
1 T natty butter
(I realllly love this shake, can you tell??!)
300
Lunch
5 cups mixed greens lettuce
5 oz baked chicken breast
sprinkle of tomato
1 c black beans
balsamic vinegar and pepper
400
snack: 1c chocolate soy milk with 1 scoop whey mixed, 1 whole wheat tortilla 300
dinner: 1 large lc tortilla with lettuce and tomato, 1 c diced chicken
300

**I had a super hard time making cals today. Not hungry in the least and I've slowly felt worse as the day went on. I think I may have some sort of bug. I'll back off for the weekend (although those are my high carb/cal days and cheat day) and see how it goes.

I'm feeling much better today. maybe just needed some hard sleep. I took tylanol pm last night. that stuff is magic!
Yesterday weight was 132.4 and I expected it higher today because of how unhungry I was yesterday and all the force feeding I had to do. but it was 131.6. so thats great. I've been downing water much more so maybe its my body getting used to the ebb and flow of that.
