I haven't got back in the exercise groove yet. It seems hard enough catching up on the housework before the hubby comes home Friday. (God help me if the house is a mess!) I was thinking about buying something new- like resistance bands- anything to get me out of this slump and excited again. ::slumps shoulders:: There's so much to do!

Well last time I looked "housework" counted as a calorie burning activity. Depends on the type of housework as to how much, but I've seen light housework put as somewhere between slow walking and brisk walking! Not necessarily good for releasing tension though - I think if you let it build up like I do, then do heaps it might produce a good mood. It's not so easy to make that work if you have little ones around undoing your work as you go though. Good luck! :) I think I might go and do some "light housework" now. :) It would make me feel good if I couuld look around this computer room and see it tidy. :)

I have a 2.5 year ol and she literally walks behind me dumping everyhtignI have just picked up, lol...gotta love these kids, i swear there is a reason they are cute...LOL...

SOrry I havent been aroudn for a cpl of days, tired and crazzzy over here, time just has been escaping me...

Hoe all goes well when hubby comes home..I will be thinkin of you!!!

It's a darn good thing that housework counts as something! It's what I do. And, oh yeah, having a 3 yr old underfoot does counter-balance 98% of what I do. I do learn neat tricks as time goes by. The way we set up the couch in the new house, I can't send my little one behind it to retrieve the stuff he chunked. Nor can I move it b/c it's a big sectional. Instead, I use the hose attatchment on the vaccum cleaner to fish out sippy cups, banana peels, and clothes. It's oddly fun. :) I also bought a scrub brush just to clean the table, chair, and booster seat where he sits at the table. Things like oatmeal dry in the blink of an eye. It can be sooo gross. ::shakes head:: He's a truly over-energetic, hard-to-handle child. I've been asked twice recently, while he was acting up in public, if we had a church home. So embaressing! My dad told me to buy a heavy chain and a pad lock, lock up the fence in the backyard, and let that boy exercise out his demons. I admit, my daughter was a mess, but, while she was a rough wind on the ocean, my son is a tidal wave, or, better yet, a rogue wave. He's an explosion waiting to happen, filled with sporadic hugs and kisses, bursts of songs, and most often a grumpy "leave me alone" or a toy being thrown in your general direction. He's so tuned into the world and its emotions, it's eerie at times. Mostly because he expresses himself with as few words as possible. My daughter is a jabber-jaw, like her daddy, and a little spaced-out at times. Did I say a little? Ha! I actually conferenced with her teacher yesterday b/c my daughter can and will stay out of touch for long periods of time and won't finish her school work. Or start it. Ugh... She's 5 years old and says that school is "boring" and she said "I just start looking at something and can't help myself." For half an hour. Is she so imaginative that her mind is better than the real world? She misses simple connections, too. It can be so infuriating. Her brother took the mirror that hangs in her room, so she goes to his room every morning to look at herself. I don't think it's my place to move it or tell her to move it. It should come naturally. And that's only one example...

However, I have written far too much. My kids are my favorite subject, and I have a love of writing and reading. I plan to write a novel. I started one, but don't have the heart to finish. I may post it in here. It suits this life change perfectly.

Hi SoSel. I have hardly been here for a couple of days. For a nice reason - out and having other fun. You have not been on either. I hope this is for a good reason. :) I don't recall the exact day your husband is returning. I hope everything is ok.

I don't know if I should ask this or not seeing as you found it embarrassing, but what is a "church home"? I gather this was a way of criticising. Children come in so many different personalities and each of us has to learn a bit at a time how to best manage the ones we've got - I think I would probably be very good at bringing my two up now. If they were babies. Unfortunately they have now progressed to another stage where I'm still just learning and doing the best I can. I am surprised by the extent to which onlookers sometimes think they can criticize mums with young children - it is so demanding. I just feel amazed by how many I see out seeming relaxed and cooing to their little ones. I keep hoping that I did that but actually mainly remembering being stressed!

I'm sorry your little girl is bored at school. If she is ony 5 she is the age I mostly teach and the things we do are pretty much like games, making boredom very rare. I had the idea the setup was fairly similar regardless of the country. Is it just some particular types of activities that bore her? A head full of ideas seems like it would be helpful for many of the things that would be suggested for these kids.

I love to read and write too. I think that makes these forums especially useful

Hey yo9u checkin up, you haven tbeen on since hubby got home, is this a good thing or a bad thing or an ok thing...anyway...I hear ya abt hte waves adn handfuls, both my kids are crazzzy...my youngest is a red headed fireball and my oldest the same without red hai but I must admit, Ive raised them to have attitude and that my friend they do...it isa good thing if used properly, it certaintly has gotten me far...Looking forward to hearing from you soon:):):)Know that you are being missed!!!

Ok, I know it. I've been absent, but I haven't fallen off the wagon too badly. In fact, I've been driving people nuts about catering to me. You'd think telling my friend's mom I'd pass on her tea and drink ice water instead brands me as a heathen. I really thought that woman was going to confront me with a spatula in the hallway! I drove the hubby and sis-in-law nuts today trying to find a place to eat. I got so aggravated I finally said, "Just go anywhere. I will either eat or I won't." How prophetic, huh? I don't think they take me seriously b/c I'm still chubby. ::shrugs::

I finally got my bootie back into Curves today. It was soooo refreshing! I was pumping the machines as hard as I could for as long as I could. I was tired at the end. And, for the first time since my first work out, I did all the stretches. Driving home in my car later, I realized how good I felt. I have no cig smoke clogging up my system, I just gave my body an awesome work-out, and I even stretched! That was probably my best Curves work-out to date. Not smoking improves my breathing and ability to get my heart-rate up working out and not mostly from high blood-pressure.

Two pieces of awesome news. ::ahem, clears throat::

1. I weighed 191.8 lbs Monday morning. Down from 192.3.
2. My best friend's parents are going to Costa Rica this weekend to look at some land. If they see what they want, they are going to build a vacation house. And guess who's going? My girl is already calling me her "Costa Rican Princess." It's a joke between us, my heritage that is, b/c I look white, but have more curves than J-Lo. :D

Oh yeah, the "church home" thing. That's what we call it here when you go to a church regularly. It's embaressing that people keep asking me if I take my son to church b/c of the way he acts. His middle name is "Christian." I just don't see a need to tell people that. On the whole, my kids are my treasures. I do get stressed by them, but I love them and stay affectionate. I distinctly remember the first time my kids said they loved me. I cried then and sometimes hearing it now chokes me up.

My daughter's teacher is surprised that my girl has time to be bored at school. They keep the kids actively engaged in things all day long. You'd have to, or 20 plus 5 year olds would drive you nuts. He he. :p

Thankyou readers for being there for me when I wasn't! I'm glad you have my back.

You're right. I have been spending a lot of time with my family here and his family. I like having him home and doing things together, but it's hard staying strong and eating healthy around people who don't take it seriously or don't agree with my views on healthy. I got a lecture on the nutritional value of oatmeal cream pies the other day. PLEASE!!! Anyway, he's back to work on his funky shift... 3 off, 2 on, 3 on, 2 off... so one week he works two 12's and the next five 12's. When he's home we're working on the house and I just don't have the time to write down what I eat, but I am being careful. I haven't weighed this little in years and I'm not going back!

men! just keep in mind men need 500 calories more than we do hehe :) if he complains about what you eat just use him for some aereobics exercise lol he'll go silent in a second hehehe
