Skyler's new diary

Thanks for the tips on the weekends. I think I will try that this weekend and see how it goes! :) I def. like having some low-fat scones I make ont he weekends or bagels with some light cream cheese. yum! :)

As for what I do for dinners, well for example last night was a hamburger patty without a bun. I pan cook these with some lite teriyaki sauce and seasonings. And if FH is around to eat with me I cook an additional one for him and give him a bun of course and any toppings he wants. :) I'd just have steamed veggies on the side if needed. Tonight I cooked up some chicken in a pain with stir fry sauce and some veggies. Normally I do this with rice, but to avoid the carbs I skipped that, my veggies were carrots, broccoli, and onions. I'm not sure how "carby" they are.. but well I figure, its better than having a bunch of bread or pasta! :)

I would also try making a salad and spicing it up with some bacon bits for your FH, and different veggies etc. I can't swing the cottage cheese myself. So you could also grill some fish, chicken, or steak and keep the portions sized down for your sake and he can have the larger portions. :D Just a few thoughts! Hope this helps a little!

Thank you all for sharing this, it is interesting to see what you guys are doing. I don't think I would be able to plain tuna all the time. I do like tuna salad, so if I add boiled agg and some mayo, that would work for me. My problem though is that we always have leftovers from dinner the night before, and they need to be eaten, so I don't think I can do tuna for lunch consistantly. Anyway, I'm just thinking out loud how I can add elements of Paula's diet into mine. :)

hey ya. :) Well if you have a higher protein dinner the night before and you eat the left overs for lunch I think you are safe. I think Tuna is just something Paula chose sort of from preference and low calorie etc. It works with the crackers etc. :) So I still think you'd be ok doing that! :D

hey guys, thanks NL for the food advice.
NTL- tuna is what paula eats, but she also told me that salad with protein is okay as well or sushi (which i tend to eat sometimes for lunch). I THINK the point is to stay away from carbs in the late afternoon/evening.

so, this morning, i got up again (3 days in a row at 5.30am). that impresses myself! got in 45 minutes on elliptical and 20 minutes upper body weights (supersets). Today is when my motherinlaw-to be comes in town and the difficulty begins so wish me luck.

Tonight, we are going to the restaurant where we are having the rehearsal dinner (since she hasnt been there and is paying)...and yikes! it's italian.. i think my plan for the day is to be low carbs...cottage cheese for breakfast, salad for lunch...not starve b/c then i 'll eat too much tongiht but try to save calories for later as i know i'lll have overload of carbs w/ pasta/wine,etc...

sound okay? best as possible, i guess....

good news is that i weighed myself this morning (the scale is in the room that she will be staying in, so i am OFF until monday at the earliest ;) )...and i am still at 138.5, SO, my goal this week is to stay put and i'll be happy.

i'll check back later..

Hi Skyler! Great job on getting up early and exercising three days in a row!! That is awesome! I really hope you enjoy the rehersal dinner tonight. I think your plan of keeping your calories low during the day so you can enjoy dinner tonight is a great one. I wouldnt over worry about dinner though. Some special occassions are just meant to be enjoyed!! :)

Have a great time tonight! :)

Skyler, Italian restaurants usually have entries like Salmon with Veggies. Italian style veggies are usually really tasty, so you can stay away from too much pasta! :)

Also, since you have not been eating too much carbs lately, watch out because pasta will fill you up immediately! Just a friendly warning to keep off the tummy aches. :)

Awesome job on the exercise! Way to go!

Hey Girl Doing Good On The Excercises You Are Rocking Girl Keep It Up!!!!!

Also.. I think the resturant might have an AntiPasta Dish too.. .veggies.. so I'd go for that as another option. Keep us filled in!! Water Water Water!! :D

Well skyler, despite your crazy schedule, and the great upcoming dishes, you seem to have your priorities right on target with both food and exercise! How many would just say screw it! Not you! Be very proud of yourself and enjoy the upcoming events!

i'll let you know how tonight goes..

have had 40 oz water...and still more to come!

Well, as you all know, I was CONCERNED with last night (to say the least) but also as yall recommended, i needed to enjoy and not 'beat myself up' about enjoying myself with my new family (it was my mom/dad/FH/and mother-in-law-to be in town on vacation) and we went to this italian restaurant that we are having the rehearsal dinner at (where she is footing the bill). They decided to do 'family style' b/c it gave more choices and more similar to what we'd have to choose from for our actual rehearsal dinner (so NTL, that was as similar to buffet as i get!). anyways, this place is unbelievable with the portions and it reminds me of how my lifestyle has already changed so much and how much progress, NOT JUST LOSS OF LBS, b/c i was some what appalled by how much food they were serving and how much people were eating..but anyways...after being good during the day...and not NOT trying things, i clocked in at 1450 calories. Now, this is a lot for me, as i aim for 1000 to lose but considering the circumstances, i m not too upset by this. It was funny actually b/c i was so eager to get to a computer and get to my fitday.com account so i could figure out what i actually DID eat.

it went like this:
Breakfast: Cheese, cottage, lowfat (1-2% fat): 120 cal
Lunch: Spinach salad with lots of green veggies and chickpeas and balsamic vinegar for dressing : 310 cal
Dinner: (they allowed for 2 appetizers, 2 salads, 2 pastas, 2 entrees (i thought pasta was an entree!!), 2 desserts
apps:
Mushroom filled Ravioli: 55 cal
Mussels, steamed : 55 cal
salad:
Greek Salad: 100 cal
pastas:
Pasta, whole wheat, with tomato sauce, meatless: 120 cal
Spaghetti with red clam sauce : 100 cal
entrees:
a small piece of Veal Marsala : 130 cal
Roasted Chicken leg: 100 cal

4 glasses  Alcoholic beverage, wine, table, white: 280 cal

Bread, black- 1 piece: 80 cal - i just couldn't help myself!

Totals: 1450

I rounded up some b/c i have no clue in terms of preparation and oil used :( and such but overall, okay, i guess....hopefully it wont kill me and will use that whole theory on 'zigzagging' your diet to keep your body confused.

Tonight, i have pilates (thank goodness) and i was hoping to skip out of dinner and give some father/mom time for my FH but they insisted...however, the good news is that FH is cooking (he is a chef and cooks light) so it will most likely be fish or chicken and veggies...and i ll at least know what is in it!

sorry for the long post.....

NOW, however, I am NOT HUNGRY at all. I know I should probably start my metabolism but I just can't eat right now, so I'm going to wait. Not sure if that is the smartest move here????

Skyler, good job! You did great, and 1400 with italian restaurant trip is wonderful. I don't think it will skew you off.
My theory is that if you're not hungry, don't eat. Your body is probably still processing yesterday's meal, so I think your metabolism is still being busy. If your stomach starts feeling empty and a bit hungry, eat your usual breakfast. Sometimes, if you're just a little hungry and feel like eating, but not hungry for the whole meal, eat half your usual breakfast.

Sounds like things are going great!
Enjoy Pilates tonight!.

Way To Go Skyler Your Doing Great Keep Up The Good Work Girlfriend!

Way to go girl!!! Wow that Italian resturant reminds me of one we have here, and there is a chain of them, they're quite large, do family style servings and they are MASSIVE. But the food is divine tasting! :) You did great!!

I'm going to use you as my inspiration for behaving and eating in maintence mode this weekend.. :) Keep up the great work!!

Hey Skyler! Sounds like you balanced things perfectly at dinner. You enjoyed your meal and spending time with your family, but you also kept from going overboard on eating as well. Great job!!!

Eating out is always such a challenge, especially when I am eating out for a special occassion. I dont want to worry about every bite to the point that I cant even enjoy my meal out (and even maybe end up hurting someones feelings) but I also dont want to indulge to the point that I feel terrible afterwards, and undo any progress I have made that week. It can be a tricky balancing act.

Glad you had such a good time. The restraunt sounded absolutely wonderful!! I love Italian food. Yummm - pasta! Keep up the great work!! :)

thanks girls!!

fluff, you are totally right - it is a fine line balancing act that is very tricky but with practice, i think we'll all get it right!

NL- thanks to you too...and i dont know if i'd go so far as inspiration for maintenance mode but whatever works! ;)

All I know is...the last thing Im gonna order on those special occasions ever again, is CHICKEN. Im chickened OUT! (so to speak:D )

Hi Skyler! You did a great job with the italian restaurant. Way to stay strong and not give in to temptation.

How do you like the Pilates? I've been wanting to drop into a class at my gym, but haven't yet. Is there cardio in it?
