You look even better with a face

That's made me snort laugh!!!
Good eye, Mal.....full of all kinds of bits and baubles. Thanks skyler, you're too kind.

Okay....I've been doing some serious thinking lately and thought I would put it down in writing. I guess this stems from observing the behavoir of other people that I probably never paid much attention to before.

Let me preface this by saying that in the household in which I was raised etiquette and manners were very important. Table manners especially.

Lately I've been watching how other people eat. And I've come to the determination that it's not only WHAT we eat but HOW we eat that is important. Think about it, every one of us has sat on the couch in front of the TV and stuffed our face. Food spilling down our shirts, crumbs getting on the floor. And you know what, if we eat like pigs and stuff ourselves, well what do we expect? You know the old adage you are what you eat, well I think it should be appended with you are HOW you eat.

Since I've been on this weight loss journey I've been paying special attention to my table manners as well. I was raised to be ladylike and there is no excuse to forget one's manners. Also, as I've lost weight and gained more confidence in myself I FEEL more ladylike too. I sit up straight in my chair while I'm eating. I keep my elbows off the table. I eat slowly. I raise the fork up to my mouth. I take my time and savor my meal.

I've been watching other people eat lately....head down to the plate shoveling in one forkful after another when they haven't even swallowed the first. Vaccuming their food up in just seconds. No wonder we have weight problems!!!

I think not only do we need to educate ourselves about what foods to eat and in what portions...but HOW to eat. If we practiced eating like ladies and gentleman even when we are eating alone I think it would be of enormous benefit to us on this journey.

Just my little morning rant, and not meant to offend anyone.
Hope you all have a wonderful day!!!!

I absolutely agree - after reading the book French Women Don't Get Fat, that's one of the things that the author made a big issue out of. When you eat it should be something special, not shovelling something in over the sink, or stuffing yor face while watching tv... There are days, where i could set a land speed record for eating... your body doens't know it's full when you eat so fast...so you eat more.

So now, dinner has become dinner, and living alone it's a little weird, but i'm getting used to it, Ih ave dinner at my lovely dining room table, sometimes i light candles, I have nice placemats that i use, and have a knife and a fork and nice glasses... it's a treat for myself... and to slow down, I put the fork down between each bite and take a sip of water... It's slowed me down considerably but I had to ask myself - why am i rushing - to get back to the television? I was beign stupid...

It's a great reminder, thanks Miz Scarlett...

Scarlett, you take such lovely pics! I can't wait for the day that I can say "hello! A camera! Snap me!" :D LOL

I agree with you on the eating. I also started treating each meal as an "occassion" instead of "eating time". It DOES slow you down and gives you time to actually enjoy what you are eating. I put my water in a wine glass (I don't drink anymore so gotta put 'em to good use :D ) and have pretty green plates for myself (the "guys" of the house thinks its silly  ). Now I'm gonna think of you each time I sit down in my chair :D hehehehe

Have a great day! :D

Your picture is sooo pretty :) Thank you for being such a great teammate. I hope we can all be on the same team again for the next challenge. It was a lot of fun.

Wow. What beautiful pics Scarlett. You look amazing in those. Obviously your new bod came from hard work and dedication and the reward is well worth it. Awesome. :D

The stars are shining for you today!!! You are so gorgeous!

I never thought about HOW I ate food. Now you've got me thinking! I'm going to try to be more aware also, and slow down. I have a feeling I'm one of the shovelers. :D

The one word that springs to mind when I see your photos is 'elegant' ;)

I agree with you on the eating front. I did slow down when I started on this website, but I have ended up speeding up again now  Thanks for the reminder, Scarlett, I am going to try to get back into good habits ;)

Holy smokes Scarlett, you are heating up these boards you're looking so good! Next thing we know, you'll be at your goal weight, and be a total camera hog ;)

Don't forget about us when you get all hot :D

hi guys and thanks for all the LOVE!!!! You guys are wonderful!!!!

And all you folks out there using pretty plates and napkins and candles.....you just keep it up even if you live alone, or if you live with other people that give you strange looks. We no longer eat....we DINE!!!!

On to business...today's calories consumed....1245 but today was an office day so no treadmill.

My schedule is going to be a little backwards this week because we have more colleagues in town. Taking them out for dinner tomorrow night, then all day Thursday will be a day on the road, but I think I will only have to eat lunch out. So that's two restaurant meals in the next two days. But I already have a plan. Tomorrow dinner will be a salad with grilled chicken. And Thursday lunch I will get a chicken sandwich minus the bun, and see if they will substitute either the veggie medley or a fruit plate for the fries. Thursday is going to be a difficult day for the water as well since we'll be on the road. Not so much that it will be hard to drink because I can take bottled water with me, but the logistics of having a bathroom close at hand could be a problem based on where we'll be. We'll see how it goes. But I don't want to be bloated come Friday morning. Because that's the new challenge that I am SUPER EXCITED ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, if I can perform the same in this challenge as the last I could conceivably shed five more pounds by August 11th. The thought makes me very happy.

oooh, I forgot to add to my earlier post...I went shopping today on my lunch hour and bought 2 shirts and 1 skirt in a size....**gasp****....medium.

Now what the heck is going on with the fashion industry??? I know damn well that the last time I weighed what I weigh now I wore a large. How the hell do I fit in a medium now? I think it's a conspiracy....I think the fashion industry is in league with the fast food companies. They just keep making the sizes bigger so that people won't realize they're gaining weight so that they will continue to eat at the fast food places. It could happen.

Hey Hey now. You just made a super positive statement in the first paragraph happy about fitting into a medium and in your second paragraph you took that positivity away. For shame for shame. Be totally thrilled that you fit into a medium. Who cares what size you wore before your wearing a medium now! Shake it hot stuff!

Hey Scarlett,

You are very beautiful inside and out! You are one hot mama! Thank you so much for you message in my diary today. You look fabulous and you deserve to hon!

Hope you are having a great week!
